I've been a solo detailer full time for a few years now going on four and I do very high level work but everything takes me SO LONG and it's always been one car a day... all day. Thanks so much I need more content like this because I have no life with the hours I work.
Dude, it's not just you. I can squeeze a headlight restoration in on an evening after my regular job but there's NO way I could do a full detail in the evening. Maybe I should be pushing external-only during the week. I know usually hammer those out in a couple of hours unless there's paint correction involved.
I learn so much from your videos. I watch them on a daily basis. I have been detailing for about two years and still have so much to learn I greatly appreciate but you teach and how you teach!
Very informative. Those 3 products you use come highly recommended from other detailers and they're simple but effective. I have been trying to find what I want to start using and I am going to keep it simple with those 3. Also, you make a good point when you say you're not necessarily "detailing" you're just maintaining. Keep up the great work!
Definitely a great way to maintain business. Really fast work, the customer gets their car back same day and its already protected. Like you said a thin layer on the surface wipes away easy. Plus ONR is very economical, you're get a ton for one product
I hated my compressor so much I sold it. For me personally I like to use a brush vac attachment for vents and small crevices. Whatever works for you and makes you comfortable. I mean isn't that the reason we work for ourselves? Lol
Wilson Auto Detailing!! Man it’s great to see you! I feel like lately you’ve been videos in your studio, it’s good to see you putting videos up with you doing details. I’ve been watching for about two years man so I remember when you would coach and teach on the job. I miss it man, have a great one! Happy new year
When you skipped the cup holders in the back it would've only taken like 5 seconds to wipe them out and get the dust out, what's the point of skipping that, yeah they've never been used but there's probably still dust there
I mean one thing I would of added is a non slick dressing to the floor mats. They looked pretty faded and and I feel just the small things like that add up especially if these customers are repeats
And If you have an extra person with you leave one of you on the inside & someone else on the wheels, when finished with wheels both switch to exterior foam wash, once done you hit the door jams, finish the interior & boom done in about an hour ish- for monthly maintenance details
If you were going to take the Rubber Floor Mats out, why did you roll them up to clean the borders of the carpet? Is it because last min, you decided to take them out for a better cleaning?
To each their own… but I completely agree. But everyone runs the business the way they want. I would be unhappy as a customer personally. He values profit and speed over proper maintenance. Especially when he says “won’t skimp over this part.” Makes it seems like he skimps over other stuff.
YES! I also do just what is required. no need to touch anything on a new well maintained expensive vehicle ...if you don't have to touch it, don't because touching it abrades the surface. clean it then protect it then only once in a while you'll need to wipe and clean again. my full detail inside and out takes exactly 1 hour on my clients with new cars. ..if it takes you longer.. you're cleaning things that don't need cleaning. wheels too.! I clean and coat them so I rarely have to use woolies and brushes.. maybe every third wash I'll go in with brushes. I simply pump spray wheel and tire cleaner on them all then power wash them off. done. fresh sealant and wax on the new paint so I only hand cash the bottom third of the car.. the top gets foamed and washed off..no scratches.. ever from driving and wiping. again...if you can clean anything without touching it or scrubbing... then don't. great video
I wouldn’t over worry about the difference between 90 and 95. At some level you are splitting hairs and may just adjust the dilution ratio something like 60:40 rather than 50:50
Seems to me like this model is not just useful for detailers but for the owners who like to clean their own cars. If you invest the time to properly detail the car the first time around then all you have to do is maintenance cleanings once a week.
Just got a daily driver/camping car detailed. I'm not skilled enough to apply a ceramic coating 00:50 so can you recommend other protectants to make INTERIOR maintenance easier?
@@jaxonchastain3105 not very cost effective that way , lets say you do two cars a day every day for a month . That's only 3k and your killing yourself lol
Curious, do you wash and reuse microfiber towels or just throw them out and use new one after each use? Also my sister has a cleaning business I work w/ her. With regular clients we see often we do a light clean or a deep clean. Depends what's necessary. Like you said, it's a business, and you have to prioritize things. It's hard skipping stuff though because I'm very thorough. But yeah, a maintenance clean it's a great business model! I'd rather be cleaning cars than houses. Did a nasty toilet today 🤣
Thanks Luke great video !!! When you do a maintenance detail do you just do the interior or both ? If both, do you do them on separate days or the same day ? THANK YOU !!!
Regardless if nothing has been in those cup holders there is still a small amount of dirt in there 😂 this gives me a open mind to start double checking work. Regardless of this ridiculous guys "advice" a simple wipe down with water is still better than nothing. I bet he still charged a good fee to do a half ass job.
I’m a huge fan of the system x interior spray coating. I’m doing a long term test now. A year later it’s doing really well. Apart from that, certain coatings can be used off label, mckees graphene coating, Avalon king, then with leather I would go for a specific leather ceramic coating.
I have one question. What do you do about the run off water? After a lot of research it looks like it is actually illegal in most states to let the water go into the storm drain after washing the car. Love your content btw
Run off water for car washes is illegal in very specific areas. When I did indoor luxury, I used rinseless washes(foam method) but you can look into water containment mats. I used an inflatable one(did not last that long).
Rarely in our mobile detailing is there an actual STORM DRAIN nearby a homes driveway. When there is one all you have to do is use a cheap pliable pig berm to cause runoff water to pool up and insert a cheap electric bilge pump that when it senses its submerged in water will suck the runoff water up and out the discharge port hose that we have staked down and run into nearby grass. Do the same thing for power washing concrete.
@@TheCalisthenicsHub super clean for interior. P&s interior is good. Exterior really anything, watch a couple exterior videos. Familiarize yourself with the ways to clean exterior (foam wash, rinsless, waterless, etc) and use what you think would work. Pan the organizer is good, this guy had a bunch of videos that are amazing. Look in the description as well
How can you call this detailing? You make it look nice, but you neglect the purpose of detailing… vacuum out the seams of the seats refresh the UV protection, clean the things that most people overlook… This is just an overpriced cleaning.
Mate you just exposed your self haha u less your charge very very very low your scamimg your customers they put car on for ot to get cleaned not wiped down and mad as if it has been cleaned weather ots been touched dat in or used doesn't matter it will get dirty threw time as another comment says dust travels and settles so yeah if customer is clear ypur skipping half the car fine but as a detailer ypu cannot potty ypur detailing a cars interior if your missing half of it due to you saying it's not profitable haha 😂 imagine a barber never cut the back of your hair and said well ypu can't see the back of it so it's not profitable for me to cut it lol 😂
Bad analogy, instead look at this this way. You go to the barber, get 2 inches cut off the top, and have them give you a fade. You go in a week later, and you pay the same price, only for them to freshen up the fade and not touch the top, why would they, when it has only grown 1/8th of an inch. Also with maintenance plans prices are lower to accommodate the easier job
