How do we reconcile the similarities between mythology and the Bible? Many ancient civilizations had their own version of the Bible's flood story, some of which seem to predate the Bible. Sumerians, Babylonians, the Greeks, the Aztecs and many other civilizations had their own flood myths. In addition, the Sumerians had the Adapa myth, a story similar to the fall of Adam and Eve in the Bible. The Epic of Gilgamesh spoke of half-divine giants similar to Goliath and the Nephilim. The Tower of Babel has a Babylonian parallel in the building of Marduk's temple, and both the Sumerian cuneiform tablets and the Old Testament speak of a Divine Council of gods or angels. Does the discovery of these other stories disprove the Bible as an inspired message from God? It turns out that's not necessarily the case; the claim that the Bible stole from other myths was popularized by one man's misinterpretation of the evidence. Today's Bible scholars understand exactly why the Bible contains links to other mythological stories and why the discovery of similar older stories doesn't actually take away from the Bible's credibility. The only problem is... most people haven't heard about it. But this video shares it all!
