Bruh I read this yesterday and it resonated with me for some reason but I could't put my finger on it, then as I was falling asleep the phrase came back to me, and I remembered.
It’s unbelievable to me that Community can have so many running gags that I could miss multiple of them despite watching this show on repeat for years!
I love the look of defeat on Rob Corddry’s face at the end, which was in stark contrast to Joel McHale’s look of suppressed triumph when he asked, “Does anyone know any jokes?”
there's another instance of this from contemporary impressionists (S3E12) - when jeff runs on stage to steal the "most handsome young man" award, the audience throws paper balls at him
I love how in no instance does anybody have to crumple their paper before throwing a fully crumpled paper ball, as if they've all got dozens of paper balls ready to throw at all moments.
man... I really miss this show... witty, wholesome and actually pretty funny. And I couldn't quite explain it but the characters just feel so real and intimate to me. Like in other shows, even when they're great, like say Parks and Rec, I feel that I'm just accompanying those people's stories. But with Community I actually feel like I know them, like I'm getting to see what happened to my friends last week. I'm not even from an English speaking country so it's not like this series appeals to me in particular or anything. I'll stop here before I go into a rant, I'll just say they clearly had something special here.
Absolutely. Rick and Morty might have made Harmon famous in pop culture, but Community is by far his best work in my eyes. It's such a human show. It's not afraid of showing how people can be effing horrible, but instead of Rick and Morty where everything is horrible all the time, in Community we see how horrible people can learn from each other to become better. The characters feel real because they're picked from all walks of life, and given realistically flawed personalities that we see in the people around us. Community truly was steets ahead, and despite the fact that the last three seasons suffered for various reasons, the show as a whole holds up incredibly well.
I wonder if they reuse the paper balls. Like they just keep a basket of paper balls and everytime the script has a character being hated on they pull out the ol' basket
