Heh, gives me vibes of Double Dare host Marc Summers being a crippling germaphobe yet the crew loved sliming him knowing it would give him panic attacks.
@@cuckoobrain7999 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W5q5wZWPhyw.html So I was kind of wrong, it was OCD, and the Double Dark producers basically told Marc he had to get messy (after 65 episodes where Marc avoided it as best he could)
I like the image of Amy Sedaris sitting in a vocal booth saying something like "ugh this blows" in a vaguely annoyed voice and then giving her most enthusiastic take.
Always referring to her as Character Actress Margot Martindale is a running joke that has become part of my life. Its rare, but gold for any Bojack fans.
I convinced my friends to all see cocaine bear because of margo Martindales role. After hearing she was in it they all agreed of course. She did amazing if anyone was wondering (totally unbiased)
My favorite running jokes: 1. God damn it Randy! 2. The crossover episode coming full circle 3. Character actress Margo Martindale being so genuinely well known and loved
@@zulqarnain9955 "Hollywoo Stars and Celebrities: What Do They Know? Do They Know Things? Let's Find Out" is a good show but I really like "Talking Hollywoo Stars and Celebrities: What Do They Know? Do They Know Things? Let's Find Out with Chris Hardwick"
All the things we know about Erica : 1. Lost a foot 2:57 2. Was in the burn ward 3:34 3. Can’t be in a place filled with children 3:57 4. Has a random tooth ? 5:51 5. Is not allowed to vote in national elections 6:23 6. Has one good eye 7:59 7. Sometimes has the right number of ears 10:45 8. Occasionally shows up to parties with a child sized coffin 12:53 9. Can’t talk to two people at once because of a split brain procedure 14:01
Well did you know that Character Actress Margo Martindale made massive mountains of money after murdering Erica entering an Entertainers Event, ran by Randy where she rapidly ransacked Randy’s rent reserves
fun fact: I thought character actress margot martindale was a fully fictional person made up for bojack horseman. when I was in a huge bojack phase I started randomly asking all of my friends “are you character actress margot martindale?” and I said it multiple times to a friend of mine. she finally asked me why the fuck I was doing that and I explained that character actress margot martindale is a character from my favorite show. that friend was an actor. that friend had worked with character actress margot martindale and had to explain to me that character actress margot martindale is in fact a real person and was not created for bojack horseman.
@@murilosampaio1264 Well some things you don’t really think about, like I didn’t know she was a real person too cause I didn’t really think about it too much to assume otherwise.
I started watching this show the week it premiered. It felt like it was a "new" show all the way to the end. Now, it feels like it only ended a few months ago. Every time I seriously consider how much time has actually passed, and how much my life has actually changed, I start getting anxious.
My favourite was when characters would butcher various sayings. 'Fool me once, shame on me, but teach a man to fool me, and I shall be fooled for the rest of my life'
Kinda wish the running gags where shown together and done in groups. The Ericas, then tongue twisters, then Diane's ringtones, crossover mentions, signs etc.
I like how most running gags have some sort of resolution to them. They are never left undeveloped. The honeydew, Mr. Peanutbutter's signs, and even Randy get some sort of big payoff. Character actress Margot Martindale was just a very wild story. Even the elaborate tongue twisters had a very emotionally significant conclusion with Princess Caroline
And the B in the hollywoob sign is made by the same guys who kept getting all of the Mr Peanutbutter's signs wrong. This video actually made me realize that.
and the gag of bojack getting recognised (at inconveniant times) comes to an end to when he is erased from the show and therefore won't be recognised for the show anymore
@@froggygirl999 Based on the rhymes of "albino rhyno gyno" you're expecting that she says "wino," the term for wine afficionados. But instead she says "wine addict," ruining the rhyme-o.
@Willow Jordan Personally it reminds me of a certain Bo Burnham lyric that builds up to a certain rhyme and subverts it. Ofc I can't remember it now that I try to think of it, but I be damned if it doesn't get me every time. Edit: I think it was Left Brain/ Right Brain. Something like expecting "rhyme" but I think he went with "form"?
I love how the running background gag of every sign mr peanut butter orders never gets addressed until it’s a mistake that is arguably his fault, at which point he finally says that maybe he’ll reconsider another sign company.
One of my favourite gags is just mr. Peanutbutter being a dog (he is afraid of thunder, can't walk through a door wearing a orizontally large costume, doesn't even try to open unlocked close doors, gets excited about bones...
And the one time they make a mistake that could arguably be considered _his_ fault is the time he finally decides to threaten them with the _possibility_ of hiring a different sign company.
Favorite is the Randy bits. Tom chastising him for his failings but also being genuinely worried when Randy has a medical problem and is happy to have him back when he recovers.
my favorite Erica is the one at their wedding, and he just begins with, "so in the end, Erica had to lose a foot, but she got a friend" it Catches me off guard every time
another good one from the start of season 6 is bojack having to use the tie-the-bedsheets-together trick from horsing around during rehab like every other episode. “i never thought this would have so much practical application in my life, but…”
There are also some more subtle running gag,for example the fact that every time the media talks about Bojack under a bad light there's always the picture where he sneezes on Marisa Tomei at a Christmas party
@@arsalanafroz a wine-o is an alcholic who’s drink of choice is wine, and also fits the rhyming scheme, but instead of using the term “wine-o”, Princess Caroline uses the term “wine addict”, subverting our expectations and causing comedy to occur
I love how Bojack goes from hating honeydew to tolerating it at the end of the show. Truly the best moment of character development that makes this show the best that’s ever been made.
this show is filled with the most realistic and complex characters ive ever seen. they go through tremendous arcs challanging their deepest and darkest thoughts. in the end, it will all be worth it for the better people they become. just when you think the world hates you and you are at your lowest, you still have the power to change. and so, bojack horseman, in his final moments in the show,, manages to enjoy honeydew
you missed how everytime bojack talks about a project of his, he says „it’s not ibsen, but it‘s okay…“ or something similar. until the last episode, where he does the play in prison, hedda gabler, which actually is a play by ibsen! when he talks about the play at the wedding with princess carolyn, he instead says: „well, it‘s not strindberg, but we‘re having a good time“ :)
It makes me appreciate the other fruit even more. Like how an ugly girl can make an average girl feel more beautiful. (Even though that’s a terrible thing to say) lol
@jonathanmcculley3728 True. I think OP meant more along the lines of how in the show Bjoack doesn't open himself up to the idea of liking honeydew. He constantly complains about it, but when he actually tries it and opens himself up to it, he realizes that it's not actually so bad. Which is pretty symbolic of Bojacks growth during the show. It also represents his relationship with Mr Peanutbutter and even Tod in a way. It's always there even if it's not wanted, and Bojack doesn't like it but learns to appreciate it by the end of the series.
I have two favorite visual/regular gags: Todd's Halloween in January store and also the Todd fashion background characters wore after the fashion show episode, i know they're not as recurring as these but it was nice to see them on screen too :3
I have never been more invested in the wellbeing of an off-screen character than I was when Randy fainted on his keyboard. Truely a narrative masterpiece of a scene.
Isn’t it so weird how Mr Peanutbutter was the exact opposite of Bojack - optimistic, happy, friendly, good, not an addict, etc - but they both ended up alone. He’s even the one that picked up Bojack from jail in the end - cause he had nowhere else to be and no one else to be with 😭
The Margo Martindale joke has Stuck with me so hard, when I watched "The Watcher" every time her cbaraxter came on screen I'd go "Esteemed character actress Margo Martindale?"
"How would you enjoy joining Portnoy for a scorched soy porterhouse pork four-courser at Koi?" is the line that justifies the existence of Courtney Portnoy.
Honeydew melon alone tastes really amazing but when it mixes with other fruit it starts breaking down kind of like pineapples do mixed with other fruit, I can’t explain it but it tastes like butt when it’s mixed together. So it’s not that much of a stretch to hate the honeydew Mellon with mixed fruits. Also they add carbonation to stop the breakdown of mixed fruit and sadly that can make it tastes sour and again like a butt. Thanks for coming to my fruit talk.
The commitment to a gag is interesting, because the characters just accept it: PB's signs, the entire population of Hollywoo, maybe other examples. I wonder if there is any parallel to acceptance and resistance in the characters' development.
I love that Margot Martindale was the only actress who would appear as herself in the first season and so they repaid her by having her always be praised by everyone.
Princess Caroline (Amy Sedaris) really knocks those tongue twister monologues outta the park. Some of my favorite writing, where running gags are concerned. They are always SO GOOD, and fairly topical. I am impressed by the sheer difficulty/novelty of writing these build-ups. They can't be easy to craft just in a vacuum. Add to that necessary subjects and show topics, and I'm just: ✨️o.O✨️ Ppl talk about Rick & Morty as contemporary brilliance in adult animation. And sure, I like it. It's Fresh and clever. But Bojack was smart, deep, more than a little heavy, and brilliantly crafted.
