God Bless you Vin Scully, you are Dodger baseball. I listened since the 60's and when we went to a game we always took a radio to listen to his stories. A walking encyclopedia of baseball, well deserved of any honor he gets. I miss his calling the game, and one weekend he was hurting when his partner, Don Drysdale passed away from a heart attack in Montreal. He had a tough time calling that game that day, but you could tell he had his emotions on his sleeve.

Life made Los Angeles home in late 2004, and until 2007 each summer night offered the chance to watch a beautiful west coast sunset and hear the voice of Mr. Scully. Listening to him made the beer taste better, life had no worries or cares, and he is one of the most gracious and humble men on this earth. Thank God that You Tube gives us the chance to relive some of those wonderful summer nights from the videos of Mr. Scully that are on here. I TRULY miss him on the Dodgers broadcasts.

His humility knows no bounds. To me that is the essence of the man. Bravo Mr. S. And to be clear, if anyone ever deserved this award, it was you. You have brought great joy to millions since 1950. Think about that. Truly, who else can honestly make that claim? Of course you deserved it. Whether a baseball announcer, scientist or movie star... Your talent and humility were the combination that leaves us all with a soft spot in our hearts for such a rare and deserving man. May you live 300 years if that is your desire.

Vin Scully could have gotten the award 30 years earlier, while already an accomplished sportscaster. Well deserved.

"Don't be afraid to dream" is good advice, but today's world is hard for some dreams to live in.

"Grateful for God's grace." Yeah, he could help a little 7-year-old girl who's getting violently raped, or a single mother and her four children in a third world country who are struggling to survive, but no, he's more concerned with allowing other people to broadcast a game. You can have all the humility in the world, but that doesn't mean you can't have disgusting beliefs at the same time.

It's easy to throw rocks, but even the seemingly charmed Scully has had tragedy in his life. He lost his first wife to an accidental overdose in 1972 and was left to raise 3 children alone. In the 80's his son died in a helicopter crash. If you don't believe in a god(s)/God, more power to you. Mr. Scully is grateful for the blessings on his career, and for those of us who grew up as an extended part of our families in Los Angeles, we're blessed by his longevity and joy.

@@davidnoticiero6728 That still doesn't excuse an all-powerful being deciding to not use his power to stop a little child from being raped, and instead just sit back and watch it, and then punish the rapist afterwards.

What have you done to help? Vin has donated to charities, and has worked for them for free. He’s given his time and effort, what about you Mr. Critical?

Nobody even knows where you're coming from and why even mention these things??? What does any of that have to do with this interview and Vin Scully??? Sometimes, it's better to keep your negative thoughts to yourself!!!
