Hello, fellow riders ! In this video I show you how to install the extended windscreen manufactured by PUIG on the Honda CB500X. I also compare the noise levels between the stock winscreen on its own, the stock windscreen with the clip-on extension, and the new extended winscreen.

I like the look of this windshield. The rain protection for your trunk should be better, wind won’t be hitting your middle and buffeting on your helmet has a chance of being less. You are absolutely right about that metal bracket being distracting and possibly dangerous. It looks as if earplugs would be required with either windshield but the new windshield is better with or without.

I fitted one of these screens to my 2018 CB500X in August and it is the best screen that I have ever had.

How's the turbolence at 100 km/h speed? Better or much better than the stock one?

@@maxipuc74 Hi Marco. The bike was delivered to me by van and I did not ride it with the old screen on. I can't answer your question but the turbulence is very low for me at 100Km/h with this screen.

Swap the pliers for a wrench to minimize install marks on the fittings otherwise great video!

An excellent presentation! I have 2021 model. Superb motorcycle. Always wear full face helmet. With stock screen I experience zero buffeting but always get annoying wind noise which increases with speed. Tried a clip on extension - zero positive effect plus obscured clear vision - especially bad off road where you need to see the immediate foreground to find your line. Am extremely sceptical about anything (including this Puig) that will effectively reduce wind noise - so instead wear custom made ear plugs. A real drag having to insert and remove them all the time, but they make for much more comfortable riding - especially over 60 km/hour and long distance cruising.

I found that the noise levels were a bit lower with this screen, though not completely gone. Changing from a motocross helmet to my current "ADV" helmet really helped with the buffeting. I still have the visor that sometimes catches the wind, but I like the looks of it and I actually use it when the sun is in my face in the middle of the morning/afternoon :)

I fitted one recently along with the leg wind deflector that fit onto the lower fairing and all buffeting has been irradiated completely ….. it has made a huge difference.

Very informative and well done video, thank you! I have just purchased a new 2022 500X and I love the bike but the wind turbulence with the original screen is terrible. I am going to try the Puig windshield based on your review.

Hi, thanks for the video. I know it does not look that cool, but I use a full-face helmet without a sun shield and I have no issues with buffeting. Btw, I am 1,76m tall.

On an old ST1300 I bought a windshield that was advertised as eliminating most wind noise and it was very quiet. I rode with it around town for a couple of weeks and too a long trip to Fort Davis from Shreveport without seeing the fatigue I did with the stocker. From Fort Davis I went to Roswell, NM where I went to High school and then up to Parsons, Kansas where I lived during the Korean War and from there down the Oklahoma side of the OK/Ar border to Shreveport. I have to say the wind noise, rain protection and big truck buffeting were much better. The big problem was it looked like a satellite dish on the front of my bike and it cut mileage from 42 down to 39-40. Not terrible with the seven gallon tank but noticeable.

Your comparison with the satellite dish killed me :) I agree that it does reduce the buffeting by a substantial amount, but it also adds some drag and reduces the fuel economy of the bike... But I'd rather feel less fatigue when I'm riding, as I'm sure you do as well !

Do the fittings need repainting after being scratched by those pliers 😩 you could fit the whole lot to the back of the screen and then slot the screen into the Mount then tighten the fittings with a correct sized spanner 😊but all in all a useful review. Thanks.

I did not notice any significant change on the rain, as most of it was already deflected onto the helmet with the stock windscreen. I guess I get a little less rain on my visor with the extended windscreen. The modification that really made a difference for rain, however, is the addition of handguards. I suggest you look into that If you don't have any on your bike yet 😉

When it rains my helmet gets a little wet, but nothing insurmountable.

Bonjour, je viens d'installer cette bulle sur mon CB 500x, et votre vidéo m'a bien aide pour le choix et le montage. Merci. Par contre je constate une tenue de cap altérée vers 110 km/h. Avez-vous le même problème ? J'ai monte la bulle en position basse et j'ai des valises et un topcase.

Bonjour, Il m'arrive parfois d'avoir à lutter contre le vent à des vitesses plus élevées, de 110 km/h et plus. Je n'ai sinon pas constaté de changement de comportement significatif a cause de la bulle par temps calme, bien qu'elle soit montée en position haute sur ma moto. En revanche je n'ai ni top-case ni valises sur le côté. Je vous conseille de faire des tests sans les rangements supplémentaires pour voir si le problème vient de là ou de la bulle.

The stock windshield can be adjusted in two different positions. I had put it into the high position to get more wind protection, because out of the factory it comes in the lowest position available.

I'm 1.75 m tall. The windscreen performs very well, it protects me adequately at both low and high speeds. I still recommend it after having used it for a few hundred kilometers, it's sooo much better than the ugly extension that I had previously ;)

I only tried it on the 2020 model, so I would not be able to say for sure, but it might not be compatible. Maybe some people on CB500X forums have tried and can give you more info on that ?
