Extended sax history (1969 - 2008) of A23H in short.
Music by: Alfred 23 Harth - sax con voce e respiro / "Just Music" (1971), LP "Plan Eden"(1986), "Parcours bleu a deux" (1990), sax con arco (2004), CD "NUN" (2006), CD "micro-saxo-phone" (2008).
My biggest sax influence during the mid 60ies came through Coltrane, Ayler and Dolphy besides what had happened in the scenes in Wiesbaden (Fluxus) and in Darmstadt (Ferienkurse). In 1969 for a jazz festival appearance with Panta Rei/Just Music in Ghent/Belgium I stuffed my tenor sax with different colored textiles to extend sounds by muting etc. In 1970 for a Frankfurt radio recording with Peter Brötzmann, Just Music a.o. I composed a first silent breath theme in opposition to Brötzmann's regular energy outbreaks (Brötzmann joined the theme). First insax voicing I had heard through Dewey Redman, and insax humming through Sanders. Willem Breuker inspired me using the sax's brass as percussion object in the 70ies. Since the mid 80ies I worked with a computer in the studio and then started electrifying the sax besides having used a harmonizer in the years before. In 1990-92 using electric sound pedal steering together in duo with Heinz Sauer (Parcours bleu a deux). Since about 2004 I implement bowing the sax's brass, and since about 2005 using contact mics on a sax connected to electronic devices.
