I miss TableTop so very much. This show helped usher in my love of the modern board gaming hobby. Back in 2017 I reconnected with a childhood friend, and one of the things he asked me is "Do you like board games?" My response was, "What? Like Monopoly and Risk?" He replied, "Let me show you something". We played Blood Rage, and my entertainment/hobby time hasn't been the same since.
It's panda time! Catch the extended edition of Takenoko with guests Rosanna Pansino ***** and Drew Roy: bit.ly/1n7Lno2 The panda's diet is almost exclusively bamboo. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? The G&S office chooses cupcakes. ^_^
The lunch menu from "Zeezicht" In Breda? They have the most amazing bread there. Wouldnt be able to choose between eating that bread with salmon or with carpaccio for the rest of my life though. -_-
Hey Wil! I highly doubt you'll read this message but your show has inspired me so much and sorta of sparked this flame where I have an urge to play board games with my Friends, sadly I am not of a very wealth family and also I am from a third world country, but there are always alternatives and so I have created my own games. Every friday night my friends and I play games that I have created. I show them these videos and they are pumped as I am just to play! Thanks Wil for the amazing RU-vid series.
Iron Tarkus So good to see someone not complain about their situation, but take the initiative to actually create what you need. Major props to you man, keep it up and keep the group going. Never know, maybe a few of us will be playing a future release from ya!
If you look around on boardgamegeek.com you can find free print and play games others have made and you can easily recreate them in your own way and use the rulebook as a reference.
I just bought this for my girlfriend for her birthday. She loved it. Thank you Wil Wheaton for introducing this to us. You put 2 new Takenoko players into the world. On a side note... Thank you Harley for making bacon even more epic! I recommend both Table Top and Epic Meal Time to everybody!
After watching this, I went and picked up Takenoko from Barnes & Noble. My boyfriend and I love playing it, it's a really fun, feel-good game for even just two players!
I was absolutely bamboozled by the amount of fun I had playing this game. Get it... Bamboozled...? *Chuckles* But seriously, both my wife and my nephews love playing this game, so I really appreciate the extended version being released. It reminds me why I bought it in the first place. Also, 11/10 to Harley for playing the long game without revealing his strategy until it was too late for them.
That was awesome seeing one of my favorite youtubers Ro and one of my favorite characters/actors from one of my favorite shows Hal Mason/Drew Roy! Loved this haha
28:33 i love it that you kept stuff like this in the video, it makes it more real, next to the fun times playing games. EDIT: 1:08:58 I also enjoy people not expecting Wil's other persona voice popping up and reacting to that xD Yes, after multiple watchings of these table tops, i'm commenting on them when i feel like it, i noteced i didn't do that all the time with every video on my innitial viewing.
This game looked so awesome i wanted to play it but $50 bucks was too expensive so i made one myself. I don't now what was more fun, making it or playing it. Thanks Will for this
I'm only about 45 minutes into this episode but if this entire game finishes without someone saying "Here's [player name] with the weather," before they roll, or someone singing Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash when they roll a flame I will be crushed.
As always enjoyed and appreciated your video, However, I am surprised no one pointed out a rule violation. On page 5 of the instructions it says "The sides of the special 'pond tile' can not accommodate irrigation channels" This error did not affect the outcome of the game but there could be a shortage of irrigation channels due to 6 being used illegally.
Just pointing this out. Drew took two cards at 50:00 minutes. He can only take each action once unless he has windy weather. but then he wouldn't get the third action.
Muck006 The only way to take two of the same actions is to have the wind power on the die roll, if he took two cards, that was the end of that turn for him. However he then took a third turn (on Wil's say so) and therefore took an extra turn as well. He rolled a "?" so he either should have considered his "?" die roll a wind and taken two cards, or considered it a Sun and take three moves, but that would not have allowed him to take two cards. Free actions in this game are placing an improvement tile (No Panda/Fertalizer/Watershed), placing as many irrigation sticks as you choose (as long as you have them already), and playing a card for points.
You guys should play The Game of Thrones Board Game. I would really enjoy watching that. Could probably be something for you to discuss with HBO marketing.
I've heard great things about your table top program from my fellow gamers. We have weekly board/card game nights at our local Games by James. There is a game I've been looking at getting and wanted to know if you could do a review on. It is called 7 wonders. As an additional suggestion one of my go to games is citadel. Considering the game is easy to learn and fairly inexpensive (since you mentioned your buget) you may want to give it a try on one of your videos.
I like how they bleep it when Harley said he's "Scared shitless" but then when he asks Ro where she read the article he totally just goes "were you also taking a big ol' shit?" without censors.
+ChocolateAntFarm That's one way to figure out which lines were cut from the original episode and which weren't. Or y'know, at least were the editors had to be more precise. :D
"Deep dark secrets", Will? You mean like the stuff you did in that roadside motel in the fourth season of Criminal Minds? I don't think the panda really should be hearing that story... (Also, such a shame the network scrapped the idea of having your character be a returning killer, it would've been interesting seeing how Floyd would reinvent his MO after barely escaping the BAU...)
01:12:36 - Pretty sure that was an incorrect move, they mention that "adjacent, irrigated" tiles grow when the farmer moves to a tile, but 1 of the green tiles he puts a bamboo on is not irrigated, only the "tip" of the water is touching it, I thought the water had to be on on one of the tiles sides for it to be considered irrigated, no? If not, then they are right, if so, then bamboo shouldn't have grown there!
Hey Glowyrm. If you look at wide shot camera angle at 01:12:50 there is an irrigation tile between the tiles but from the shot they used from Rosanna's angle it is covered by the bamboo on the left most tile.
Card counting in itself isn't remotely illegal. It takes a lot of practice and a fair grasp on mathematics to be able to count cards, also it takes no fancy equipment or anything. You don't mark cards or anything, you use your brain. The bad things happen when someone uses it to make the casino lose a lot of money by setting up a whole thing with signals and such. If you just work on your own making those guesses with your BRAIN to make safe bets it really shouldn't be a problem if you're not working over a casino. You are just using the tools provided anyway.
Brittany James Not illegal, but will get the casino to ban you because it's their private property and they have that option. The reason people used teams and signals was to conceal the fact that they were varying their bets according to the count--if a single player used that variety of bets, they'd be spotted and banned from blackjack that much faster. The team couldn't actually do more than a single player could--they just disguised it. Also, the counting is just pretty basic arithmetic. You just want to get good enough at it to not look like you're concentrating on it.
I think the whiners out here all have to be 15 years old or younger, and don't understand the concept of RERUNS. That's where your favorite show gives you SOMETHING while they create the new content. I guess they'd rather G&S just give them NOTHING while they're working to make the new productions happen. What a bunch of cry babies.
Yep, they're the same morons that made Extended Flog episodes of Co-Optitude go away. Because they'd rather have nothing instead of an extended cut when a new episode isn't available. Stupid humans...
generationutena Dude, 8 months later and I'm STILL pissed about people's idiotic reaction to extended Co-Optitudes. There was a period where Ryon couldn't get to LA from Texas to film so they put together an extended cut of one of the gaming segments from The Flog. The initial response was from the whiniest morons I've ever seen, bitching about it not being a new episode. The result; Felicia immediately put a pin in any future Extended Flog episodes of Co-Optitude. Gunstar Heroes, Battletech, barely tapped veins of comedy gold, now gone forever because of a bunch of knee-jerk, over-entitled fucktards. Sigh...okay I'm done. For what it's worth to whomever, I've tried to get Felicia to reconsider her position on that. I've sent messages through Twitter, Facebook, direct e-mails to Geek&Sundry, direct messages to people she talks to on a daily basis. I guess that boat's sailed... And been scuttled. And yeah, it still bothers me that on the wrong day, a vocal minority spewing nothing but mindless negativity, can be so crushing that they staunch future content. I was really looking forward to seeing those...
generationutena I have all the faith in the world in Felicia Day and her staff at Geek&Sundry. As well, their community houses some of the most amazing people I've ever met on the internet. As mentioned, I think they just hit at a particularly busy or trying time for Felicia and the negativity was just not worth dealing with. I don't blame her for avoiding it, personally. I'm going to take the liberty of summoning TorontoGal80. She may have stuff to add (or just may want to read.). For my part, I don't actually know the criteria they follow for extended Tabletop episodes. There are a great number I would like to see; Elder Sign, Fortune and Glory and Dragon Age for starters. Perhaps some are funnier than others. Perhaps there's a production time/cost factor to consider. I know Wil or Felicia once said there are 22 episodes, 22 Gag reels and 8 other weeks ostensibly to be filled in with Extended episodes. I've been dropping messages in the comments sections of certain favourable Season 3 episodes suggesting to G&S which episodes I'd like to see extended, and I've encouraged others to do the same. You never know. :)
Yes apparently he's really good but he didn't want to dominate the game, he would much rather see the other 3 players play and enjoy the game and become fans.
That's a game that would *have* to be an Extended version just to start with, because as much as I love it, even with just 4 players it takes a loooong time.
as much as i like the episode, it's so quiet i have to max my volume to hear anything, on youtube, my computer and speakers, anyone else having this problem?
psinjo I had no problem... youtube volume at around 50% and laptop speakers at the same. If you're on a laptop you might need new audio drivers. Updated mine not long ago and got a nice boost in volume
