A bit of a mismash of a layout update this week.
Firstly, I’ve been working on a rake of bogie bolster wagons. To fit Kadee couplings I simply chopped or unscrewed the old tension lock couplings and glued the kadees underneath. I weathered the wagons using Humbrol brown and black weathering powders, sealing this with Halfords Matt Laquer and then scrapping this with a glass fibre pen to produce a faded effect. The fibre pens are available here:

I used the same technique on the brake van. Following this I weathered the underframes using the airbrush to simulate brake dust.
Next up, I fitted kadee couplings to a Bachmann V1/3 in LNER Apple green, following its move to the YDMR from the excellent Findhorn Light Railway. I also removed the moulded smokebox dart to fit a brass version, available here:

Next, I gave the engine a light weathering using an overall spray of black/grey. I then added some coal to the bunker and gave the wheels a clean.
Finally, I extended my storage yard by scraping up the old scene, panting the board and laying new track. This area was once a mill, then two useless short sidings. Now there is plenty of storage for new stock, with provision so add more points and sidings as and when I need to.
As always, thanks for watching!
