Here in the far north of Canada our 60 yr cabin is a VERY old building. Isn’t that something? I travelled to Europe as a teenager. The old buildings were amazing.

Georgia! That’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to go! I’d love to have a peach 🍑 from a tree. We can’t grow stone fruit where we live, it’s just to cold, the trees don’t survive the winter. Is peach pie really a thing? I’ve heard about it, and it sounds WONDERFULLY delicious.

Hello neighbor! Thank you for your kind words. -40 is pretty extreme, we almost always get one or two spells of -40 each winter. But it’s not forty below all winter, thankfully lol. This coming weekend is supposed to be right around freezing and we are so excited for some “mild” weather. Hoping to get out on the snow mobiles. Really? That’s interesting! It seems the winters have been milder here in northern Canada in the last decade. None the less, we always get our week of -40 it seems. The sunshine makes it bearable. It’s generally very sunny where we live ❄️☀️

That’s a high elevation! We sit at about 2400’ here. That’s a nice big wood stove size! I love my cast iron. Cast iron pizza is one of our favourite treats! Mountain life must be amazing!

@@OffGridWithChrisandKristie Mountain life is temperamental, we live close to the end of a village but not far enough for me, sort of the Jeremiah Johnson and Grizzly Adams sort, we have ranch property up at 10,000 would prefer there, but tenuous with family, certainly prefer the company of the Deer, Ducks,Elk and a Golden eagle who roosts in the vicinity, couple of years ago my 4 year old at the time, we watched a period dinner prepared in 1820, good ol cast iron and a hearth, with tri pods and swing arms, she was amazed at how versatile that kind of kitchen cooking can do, I still have a Robert shaw gas stove, and a 40's Gibson refrigerator that still works 80 years later, 4 generations. I teach my kid what works, cause in the woods or sticks as it wer, things have to work, btw she loved the snowmobile 🤣

@@OffGridWithChrisandKristie No, I hate the hot weather, it’s dreadful. I remember being a child in Adelaide South Australia and spending Christmas day looking at Christmas storybooks about snowmen, sleighs and people singing carols wrapped in fleece clothing while Santa landed on the rooftops. I thought how lucky they were as I sweated in the heat as my mum cooked roast turkey and plum pudding adding even more heat to the non-air-conditioned house. We would get 40° or 42° over January or February but Adelaide now gets 46° and northern South Australia gets high 40’s. My wife thinks I am bonkers during the summer as my RU-vid suggestions usually involve Siberian people from Yakutsk visiting log cabins, chopping wood, making fires and cooking stews (or videos like yours) after I have sat in the lounge with the A/C on. So you could say that I have a fascination with the cold. When I retire, I want to have a white Christmas in Helsinki or the like and my number one destination for my bucket list before I die is to visit the big “A” - That’s Antarctica, not America or Asia. (no offense to these destinations). I am not sure if I could cope with the Eastern plateau that dropped to -94°C in the 1980s but I would give it a go.
