In this video I spend a couple days at the off grid cabin in a snowstorm . I build a sturdy table for the porch , cook some food on the wood stove , and go snow shoeing in the woods
Dang that little table should be bomb proof. Dogs are snow are fun to watch. My boarder collie and I live in Florida. He saw snow for the first time in South Dakota. He just sat there looking up at it falling. I wished I could know what he was thinking.
I love people that are real kind to dogs ! I live my outdoor life with people and dogs such as these great individuals !!!!!! Always wanted to live in a cabin during the winter months !!
Ive really enjoyed watching this episode, it transported me back to the days of my youth when I spent some winters in a really cosy cabin, just me and my dog. Skip was a Border Collie, and the most placid and well behaved dog, until it snowed, he just loved going crazy in the deep snow.
Bonjour de France et merci du partage. Je suis tombé par hasard sur votre chaîne, c’est juste magnifique. Un vrai paradis au milieu de la forêt, en pleine nature. Formidable. Que l’Eternel vous garde. Merci encore. 🙏😉
This was the perfect thing for me to watch. My husband and I got burned out in the Carr Fire in 2018...a 240 sq ft off grid cabin in the woods in the Trinity Alps we had been living in for 4 years. We lost it all. I had been missing it lately, (really badly missing it_ and this brought back all the good memories of that time in our lives! Thank you!
Beautiful video, i love the harmony between you, your girl and two great dogs. I wish i could have the same experience with my grl and dogs. Many thanks for sharing
Experiencing a snowstorm at an off-grid cabin must be both challenging and incredibly beautiful. This video captures the raw power of nature and the peaceful isolation of cabin life during such intense weather. It's a reminder of the resilience required to live off-grid and the stunning landscapes that surround us.
WOW! How beautiful everything looks with a magical blanket of snow. Love to watch snow falling - inside a cozy cabin with a fire crackling! Thanks for sharing this "wonderland" video, God bless.......
Wow,....beautiful. Fun. The dogs look like they're having a ball. Beautiful cabin, good food,...a beautiful woman,.... 2 hilarious dogs. I'm jealous. I want some of those biscuits.
Wow, this was awesome. I love when you drop a video. I can’t explain what it does to/for me. I’m sitting on the couch right now in Centeal California watching and just want to say that your videos inspire me to get me some land and try to build myself. I didn’t have a pops to teach me how to swing a hammer and pretty much everything I’m learning related to construction is from RU-vid but I gotta try. It’s all better than living in the city. Thanks and I smashed that 👍🏽
Thank you !! thats awesome ! closest I've came to experiencing living in the city is working out of town and having to stay in them . I will say it is much more peaceful out in the sticks. make yourself a good plan and get some cash saved up you can do it !! Thanks again !!
First time viewer n new subscriber. I loved your video. Awesome cabin and your doggies made me laugh several times. I love the little brown guy. They r adorable. Will be waiting for next video.
hey thanks for subscribing welcome to the channel !! Those two are so much fun to have with us. is funny if you go back to my older videos charley the bigger dog was maybe a year old and he was the crazy one now maples the younger goofy dog .
Wow , this video show showed up on my recommended videos and the algorithms were right on, EXCELLENT Video instant subscriber. Can't wait to check out older videos and sew ne ones
Really cute, well-kept cabin. I love the snow. Haven't seen any here in North Carolina for several years, so I miss what we used to get in Maryland when I was young. ❄️☃️
Hi, , heat in the loft......use sheer curtains, double the length of the room to hold the heat out of the loft. A window in summer is nice for fresh air, winter icing may effect the cosure of the window. Also, you have electric lights, a small fan to blow the heat back down will make a very big difference. Love the snow fall, magical and dreamy, peace of mind. Wood heat is very peaceful and relaxing.
You all got a little more snow than we did. But it was nice I miss seeing the snow. We don't get much down here. But I do have my wood burner going. It is chilly at night. And that fire makes it so nice and cooking off of it nice slow tender meal I sure hope you enjoyed yourself with your lady and dogs, You all take care God bless 11:10
Nice video , very pretty with the fresh snow. I live in a Northern Sate , I'm about 35 miles south of the Canadian border. Its been a terrible winter, crazy ups and downs in the temps. We have had a good amount of snow but then it warms up and rains , floods and then does it all over again. At this point I am glad that the days are getting longer and I am looking forward to Spring! Thanks for taking us along. 👍
There's something about fresh snow that makes dogs go bananas! Every dog I've ever had went crazy over it. Always a challenge to get them to come in and warm up!
HANGING A SIMPLE SHEET IN THE LOFT AS A BARRIER/PRIVACY DOOR MIGHT HELP YOU REGULATE THE HEAT BETTER. KEEPING IT HALF OPEN MIGHT DO THE TRICK....GREAT VIDEO THANKS FOR SHARING.
First time seeing this I really enjoyed the spectacular scenery,it was breathtaking, and having a couple of loving dogs makes it much more fun to watch,I have subscribed so I will watch many more of your videos, from Newzealand.
I was lucky enough to never have to live without power, but my parents heated the house primarily with a wood stove< with that said...I want to go off grid< with that said, when I was a kid and our power would go off especially in the winter Mom always cooked on the wood stove, which I loved, for some reason the food seemed to taste better...anyway...you cooking those biscuits in that wire thing...reminded me how Mom would cook *Homemade Biscuits * Of course she made her dough...patted out the biscuits in her hands to size...she would lightly grease the Cast Iron skillet and lay the biscuits in the pan, place it onto of the stove using a spatula flipping them every so often. They were never as light and fluffy as when she made them in the electric stove, but still they tasted better to me. Anyway...your adventure to your cabin on during this snowy time sure reminded me of the good ole days when the power would go out< those memories is why I want to go off grid now that I'm older, just not old enough to retire yet :(.
Man that idea of frying biscuits in the cast iron pan sounds really tasty !! you could always add a wood stove to your current house and get some of that feeling now
@blackspruce1861 You're right I could...but mentally I can't< why you might ask? Well...about 4 yrs ago my house caught on fire *NOT due to a wood stove, but Electrical< worse experience and time of my life..Since then I have gotten rid of all my Oil Lamps, I use to have 2 of those Propane Open flame heaters that hung on the walls, I even had them taken out...there is something about a fire scares me to death now :(...and probably why I will never go completely off grid :O. Not sure if having power to run a Split level Heating and Cooling unit ONLY for heat would really be considered off grid though? Anyway..I have the Dream and Passion to go off Grid, just not sure my fear of Fire will let me.
It's beautiful around your cozy cabin & you , your wife the dogs tucked in while the storm blew, how awesome is that. Down where I am in Ontario we have had a mixed bag , snow, rain, sleat, warm weather, I see the dogs loved playing in the snow lol, so cute. Mmmm hot chocolate and whipping cream after a walk in the snow nice. Love your videos and content.
Thanks !! its always weird for me to think down in Ontario because I associate Ontario with over Lake Superior lol . I'm really happy you're enjoying it thanks again !!
We might have gotten 1 inches snow. combined so far. Too warm here in Indiana USA. Rain is what we have been getting. So I'm getting my winter feeling watching RU-vid videos of snow 😂🎉. Thanks for sharing this with me ☺️.
I’m jealous, Northwoods Wisconsin has no snow and all rain. My offgrid area I opened up is nothing but mud. I’m not even bothering to go up till hopefully it freezes hard again. Thanks for letting me enjoy the winter snow vicariously through your video.
Just got back from a weekend at my own place in the forest. Except it's in Queensland Australia and it was 36C/98F most days - not quite the same experience as yours, but always wonderful to be out in nature. Loved the video!
Awesome thanks for subscribing and welcome to the channel !! if you liked this one I have another winter cabin video from last year that shows using the outdoor kitchen you might really like that too ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aya9miBT8WY.html
I know about missing snow. I lived in Alaska and until recently we lived in Syracuse NY. However we moved to Long Island NY 2 years ago and we miss the snow terribly. Especially my three kids, who absolutely loved it. We had snow for the first time since moving here this past week. It was nice to see snow again, we're heading upstate later in February to try and do some skiing. Hopefully we have snow.
I would really like to check out up state New York one time looks like some really nice country and good rivers . I guess you're on the wrong side of the state for snow I remember seeing a couple different winters where buffalo got hammered with snow .
Seeing you snowshoeing out there really was refreshing. You really built a superb cabin. And I hear you about the window in the loft, we had the same issue with ours,( nice down below, roasting in the loft. Thank you for another excellent video. Jim @@blackspruce1861
Nice video again Ryan! I spent the first part of the winter in Pennsylvania, and then went back to New Zealand Jan 9th where it is summer. I spent last night at my off-grid cabin, and watched a full moon rise up over the pine trees. It was pretty awesome, lots of natural light and tons of stars out. But it was not a typical hot summer's night. It dropped down below 50 °F ( 10°C) which is certainly not like a PA winter, but it wasn't exactly that warm either. Still it was great to be away from it all at the cabin!
I have a little stove top oven. I found it at an auction. The bottom is a screen with a door on the front and a temp guage. Ive used it to make pies and bread at camp.
It's hilarious to watch but they make shoveling really hard she wants to grab it as you scoop and he wants to catch the snow as you throw lol . goofy dogs . I have quite a few videos from building the cabin here's a playlist you should be able to skip through them if you've seen some . or just go to my channel and choose which one you want ru-vid.com/group/PL15-CDUV7xq8G3MU-3yBgOBBvqumYlZEN
