In pursuit of a simpler existence, we have started a new adventure. Off Grid life in Northern Canada sometimes proves to be challenging, but always worth it. Featuring our lake front cabins totally off grid, here in Northern BC. And our new home that we purchased sight unseen, to move to the property and pursue living full time off the grid, where the temperatures reach -40.
We will be sharing parts of our daily life, adventures, challenges and experiences with reviving and honoring these gorgeous cabins, and making a go at fully off grid life. In a place where nobody else lives this way.
Check us out for videos about all things off grid in the north... with a sprinkle of other awesome things we get up to!
Hey getting closer to being a deck :) Ya crazy weather cool slow growing Frost on some bedding plants that were out around my parts , I got lucky Just watered everything really good walked away & went fishing :) The fishing was good ! Neighbor half mile away said he had -2c one night & -0 the next but i only had one tomato plant that is hurt but not dead, I don't ever remember in my life frost on fathers day weekend,
Interesting, I am not as certain about the weather history here, but there seems to be a big variation between each road or area for sure. Where did you go fishin'? Can't wait to see your adventure unfold! Thanks for tuning in :)
Deck is going to be nice. Can't wait for the finished product. Garden doing as good as any. Mine needs some heat. I'm sure all of western Canada could use some heat. We had 2 frost warnings this week. Thanks for the video
Friggen frost! We are hoping to start slamming screws in tomorrow, but there’s some rain in the forecast starting Sunday. So we will see how that goes I guess
Last year we had no garden. So we are happy to have one this year. Chris is a gardener at heart. I’m just learning. Fun little fact, when we met Chris was 24 and lived alone with his kitty and a beautiful garden 🪴 Love at first sight haha
Great view having coffee soon to be on the new deck! A really beautiful spot.I watched one of your older videos and was just wondering if you cut up the world's most dangerous woodsplitter for scrap metal or used the metal for another better safer tool?I sure hope so as we all need to keep them hands for future jobs!
Ahhhh I regret to tell you the world’s most dangerous woodsplitter is still intact! It’s definitely a game of weighing its awesome efficiency against the risk lol Thanks for coming along, and caring. We appreciate you.
Yes a big risk!Years ago I bought a gas woodsplitter from Home Depot on credit and probably still paying for it somewhere! Lol But worth every penny!Other than a piece of firewood dropping and landing on the top of my foot and cracking the bone it's been great!..lol
@@CaribooCool-91 oh no! I’m literally the worst for wearing protective footwear haha Chris is better than I am for sure. We have a little electric one, but it’s so slow compared to the danger chopper 😂
All good. I now wear the fiberglass toe protector boots but I really need those top lace boot protectors to protect the top of the foot and better soles for winter and still have an affordable boot. But geez I still want to be able to move doing each job and get out there !..lol Great videos!
Thanks! We are happy to have you along to share with. I love when we can capture some authentic conversations like that opening chat haha. Makes for great memories to look back on.
A big deck/porch can literally double your living space. We are clearly outdoor people, so this is going to add a lot of value to our lives. I don’t know if we will screen any of it. But in the future we do plan to cover part of it for sure.
@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid The eagles live near by, there's one family we think. Bald eagles are pretty rare in our area, being so far north and not close to the coast
Your garden looks great, much better than ours here in WI. Deck is going to be sweet! Any plans to enclose part of it to keep the bugs out? I was thinking of doing that to ours, at least for some of it. Nothing better than morning coffee on the deck...
Why do you think your garden is slow? I am pretty sure for us it's the cold weather. This year is a lot colder than it has been the last few years for sure. I am not sure if we will enclose part of it, but we definitely have plans to cover part of it, maybe not this summer though, Have to wait and see what the budget and time allow for 🙂
