Love your backyard transformation. That was a great idea to place the posts through the planters. Maybe you could have used big square wooden box planters. But one thing. You pulled out all those green weeds but yet you planted green plants. To add a splash of color use a variety of colorful perennials they look very nice. Enjoy your backyard with your family.

How does your shade sail hold up to high winds? I'm planning to put one over my travel trailer and it's really windy where I am. I was looking for something to do that wouldn't require cement in the ground. I was glad to find your video!
Nice work. Before laying down the landscape fabric and stones, I would have buried a perforated drain pipe and connected the downspout at the corner of your house. That would get rid of that ugly above ground trip hazard gutter pipe.
I noticed that at end of video, you had a post in planter NOT installed in ground. Did that not hold your sail up? I’m curious because wanted to install one post in planter and fill with cement. Without having to dig hole into ground. Wondering if that alone will hold the post up. For our triangular sail shade. I too live in the Windy City. 😉 Also, how deep should we fill cement up to? Or how deep should planter or hole be? Bc we bought a 1 1/2 foot planter for 4x4x10 post. Should I exchange for a deeper planter?
We tried that first and it failed!! I think maybe if you build a wooden Planter it might work better but the plastic one kept falling over! So we had to dig the holes
Every other shade sail video are ranchers / o e story. I am trying to attach one to my 2 story house like you have done. I saw you disconnected the siding but that’s all I could see Can you give me any more details on how you attached the sail to your house ?
So under the siding on ours was wooden studs and we were able to connect large heavy duty ring screws into the stud that we connected the shade with! they came in the kit that we bought the shade from amazon that is linked! let me know if you have any other questions! it has worked well for us!
How do you keep this stored in winter- leave it out? Yard box? Curious party here, considering it for the pool deck but I'm not sure if it'll hold up in winter weather, or if it'll be another thing to store.
Rebecca Noy we take it down and fold it up and store it in the garage. If it’s very very windy we also take it down because we had to have the company replace one from extreme wind and it ripped. Otherwise it holds up. It does have a 2 year warranty with amazon. I highly recommend it! Works great, only thing it has micro holes so rain doesn’t pool which means it won’t protect you from the rain lol
DrJLad we measured how high we wanted the hooks to be and pulled off the piece of siding that was in that spot, then found the studs. My husbands usually knocks loudly on the wall area to find the stud but I do know that the hardware store has stud finders that could be helpful too! Then we used a razor to cut small pieces out of the siding for the hooks to slide through when we put that piece of siding back up. Then sealed the holes over with silicone caulk! Hope this helps!!
RACHAEL MOSTER Good to know! I’ve had one of the sails sitting in my garage for a couple of years. I’ve been afraid to hang it up. The instructions said not to attach it to your house...(?) I couldn’t think of any other way to mount it. Thanks to you, I now know I can connect it to some boards set in concrete. I never would’ve thought of that! Thank you! One more question - Do you ever have a problem with water collecting in the center of it?
@@dosam_6146 It has micro holes in the weave so it doesn't hold water! Although we did have it slope slightly from the house incase it did, but we have never had that issue!
What's with those tiny wire side fences. No privacy from neighbors at all when sitting outside. Just curious as don't see anything like that here is Australia. All 6ft timber fences here.
Because we ended up cementing them a few feet into the ground we purchased 12ft 4x4s! They have been holding up great for the past year now 🥰 hope this helps!
