If anything it's good to see Zac Efron flex his range as an actor while putting his HSM days behind him. Good analysis, Sam.

Good stuff. I watched the docu series when it came out, but haven't watched this film yet. To be honest, I didn't really want to because the docu series told me everything I needed to know. Good to know, though, that I'm not missing anything.

Excellent review. I was initially excited when Efron was cast, but the film seemed to get a general "it's okay" reaction and I just never got around to watching it.

Don't know if it was Berlinger's full decision to tell the story in flashback, but it's interesting you mention it considering his sequel to the Blair Witch Project was messed up in editing in a similar way. That time by the studio's decision 🤨

I remember being rather excited when this movie was coming out because I had just watched the doc. Then, much like other films I don't see when they first come out I'm told it isn't that great and I eventually skip it. I'm happy for this review being able to go a bit more in-depth with that broad statement

Quite honestly, I found the film fascinating. I didn’t know much about Bundy, but I knew he was extremely charming and guilty of killing over a dozen women, including a young teenager. I went in with that knowledge, and yet, there were instances where my mind was thinking “he didn’t do it, give the guy a break”. Which would be exactly what most people back then thought in real life. It’s kind of scary to think that even knowing he was guilty, we can buy someone’s innocence when he acts that way and with such conviction, it makes you believe how so many were rooting for him despite being guilty.
