I'm no reviewer, but I wanted to share my my experience after the first 50 miles on my Exway Flex. It's hands the the perfect board except one huge problem! The battery doesn't allow you to ride the board at it's fullest capabilities!
I 100% love my backfire zealot. If you’re looking to get a reliable board with amazing specs I would highly recommend it. It doesn’t have an app yet but it really doesn’t matter imo. Just thought I would recommend it in case someone hasn’t looked into it yet. Good to compare as many boards at this price point as you can.
Thanks dude! I was skeptical about this eBoard brand because it's hard to find an accurate review. Everyone says it's the greatest blahzay, blahzay and since they've severed their ties with there US distributors - it really made me wonder how they would handle warrantee issues. Please keep us posted as to how Exway decides to resolve this or not.
Makes me wonder, how tricky can it be for Exway to come up with an even better feature...are you ready? Slow the board down gently when stuff overheats.
Was just getting ready to order. Saw your vid and a few posts on here…decided to hold off. I hope Exway addressed your issue. May have saved me some frustration. Sorry to hear about your problems. Exway! Take care of this guy…if you haven’t.
Oh man, that really sucks! Does it overheat in any mode or just in the highest mode? Hopefully you can get it resolved. What would you next choice of board if you end up return the Exway?
So far I did not run into this issue, but I'm hardly pushing it to full speed. I guess this board was not designed to go full speed all the time. Instead of limiting the board to a more sustainable lower top speed they probably decided to give it more flexibility in form of speed bursts when needed. After all it is only a 12S2P battery. Given the same load / current it will heat up a lot faster than a 3P battery. The overheating warning should be there to keep the battery from rapid degradation due to heat or even thermal runaway (=fireworks) if completely unchecked. It could be changed in firmware, but would probably shorten the lifespan of the battery. There are always compromises, unfortunately we can't have it all. Maybe Exway could start offering a 12S3P batter pack, but that would take more space and could limit flex or ground clearance. And I agree, the "emergency break" should be handled better.
sounds like the backfire zealot might be a better choice for you if you like to ride at top speed fr extended time. Ive had the Flex for about 3 months. Im a newbie but I am starting to see where this board has it shortcomings. All around it is a great board and it is a good board maybe for cruisers and those new to eskate. But as I get further into the hobby and watching so many reviews I can see where I am likely to tire of this board and want something with a bit more maneuverability and can take hard use.
learning English, so some problems ... hello, I'm Gustavo, I live in a city that is on an island in Brazil and I also practice motoboard, I have an electric model that walked very well, it went over 60 km / h I did a lot of modifications to walk faster, but I always found problems with batteries, now we are building a model a combustion, it won't be that fast, but it will ride whenever it has gasoline ... I hope the tip helps, motorboarding is an incredible and very pleasant activity ...
Hands off the exway products (!): The goods were delivered with a defective battery, the board abruptly stops running and can no longer be braked (this is life-threatening). Currently I argue with the support in endless chats. I would have no claim to intact replacement, since I have driven the board. This is NOT the case, as the battery after the first charge showed the above defects. Save yourself time and nerves, go to another manufacturer. Exways smart battery really helps protect battery and prolong the battery life, maybe too much though. This issue could be solved by exway by adding a extra parallel or limiting the boards top speed to more sustainable levels. That being said, I dont ever cruise at top speed because the margin for error for unforeseen circumstances becomes so small ex. Person steps out into your path 15 feet away
Well, at least you seem optimistic about the whole thing. I'm ready to take sledge hammer to mine and never ride it again because it throws me off every 10 minutes without warning even though i'm babying it; I barely even go 20km/h now because I don't want to die on the thing.
Waiting on mine to arrive. I also like to ride fast and push the boards limits. Hopefully I do not have the same problem or they have a software update ASAP. Only being able to use 50% of a battery is unacceptable.
I have had mine for 10 days now. I have put 70 miles on the board I tend to cruise around 16 to 22 miles an hour. I have not had any issues with the battery overheating or anything. Keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way.
I have the same issues I live in AZ and can’t get thru 50 percent of the battery without the board overheating!!! Soooooo dumb never had a board do this before
Was it during the day?and what was the weather like? I'm also in AZ and it's starting to get cooler here in Phoenix so I hope I don't have that same issue
My problem with the flex is worse than yours. My battery does similar issues with almost a full battery. I can't go over 15-20 km/h. It keeps giving me a bms error. If I don't let go of the throttle when the remote vibrates with bms error, the wheels can lock up, just like you described. This has happened to me twice but at slow speeds, fortunately. I was thrown off the board. Their customer service is terrible. they take days to reply to my emails. They sent me a replacement batter and it's doing the exact same thing. I am giving them basically one more week - either they fix it or give me a refund - or I contact an attorney specializing in class action lawsuits. I am sure there are hundreds (at minimum) of customers right now having this problem or similar.
I have my exway flex for three month now, for the last 3 rides in a row the board at around 36-30 % cuts out he power and give me a bms error and go to 0% and disconnect with remote. I sent an email to exway and waiting for their reply.
I don't wish this on anyone... Exway said to disconnect and reconnect the "beattery" but this was an issue on even the pre- production models. I hope an update fixes it!
Alexander J hey I’m almost at 70 km and have been ripping my board around I have a decent length hill near my house not a very steep but over 1 km and I’ve been ripping 4th and not had any issue, although I’m not always riding full throttle in 4th kinda hard to tbh so board has been great so far. Will keep updating
@@Uzziskatez that's awesome! Wish mine was the same! I even had one of the motors cut out after it got below 20%. Have you experienced any battery sag?
@@raeino5434 I just found out that this is true. They won't allow me to return. And I just ate serious shit on this thing because of the brakes just engaging randomly when it overheats.

@@Type1Production Definitely, I think they grew to quick and spend to much on marketing + R&D instead of the things that matter since multiple people always end up having the same issues with their boards. I had a lot of issues with my x1 pro riot but thankfully its all worked itself out, only issue now is a motor which is rusted inside, unfortunately I'm a few days over the 6 month warranty. I sent an email to exway and waiting for their reply. my riding style is conservative never hit the top speed my average speed is around 20 kph or less sometimes 25 kph and my maximum speed 30 km in very little occasions, and I'm using the standard charger.
I had my board replaced and it's running fine now, however, I don't think I've reached any lower battery levels than around 40%. I might do it just to see if I have a problem. But I would say that you need to keep at it with their customer support. It's very slow, but eventually they respond. They'll probably replace your entire board, although they might send you a free battery first to try out. Have patients. Let us know how it turns out. I'd like to know if Exway is worth recommending to others. Their ability to resolve these issues and provide customer support is ultimately the deciding factor here.
@@adhobbies7691 They sent you a faulty battery, or there was/is something else faulty with the board, so they should have paid for the battery. That board is under warranty, never mind it never even properly worked for you from the start.
RAEINO u can send it back by mailing it back. i was gonna sent mine back cuz it couldnt carve much. BUT, i had sum riptides around and now its good. no battery issues until it gets to 25%. than a dramatic loss in power
RAEINO $150.. but i had buyers for 680-720... but they all fell through. and thenn i switched the bushings cuz i had some extras.. i now enjoy the board. look at my latest video

Hi, hope your battery is working more effeciently, so you have coolest runnings : ) I was actually going to buy my first e board ast the Meepo V3, and then decided to go for the Exway Flex, as it looks like such a sweet ride. I haven't had a skate board for over 30 years.. haha.. So I am looking to just go cruzey and crave, not too fast etc.. so hoping this battery issue won't be there. ( but really hope you manged to get it sorted ) My big debate is whether to go for the Hubs or Riot. The Riot seems much smoother for certain roughr surfaces, and better braking etc.. but also much more noisy, although could be a cool back to the future vibe : ) Just wondering if for you who was riding the Meepo Hubs for 2,500 miles, the belt drive was an issue at all on the Flex, or if you enjoy it.. I have an exway x1 pro riot, problems are not a rarity on it. I’m so disappointed, because the board it self is amazingly designed, the app is awesome, the technology is amazing, however, the execution is not good, like I thought it was when I bought the board.
I wish exway had better customer service about these issues. They have a terrible translator, aka, Google and are too cheap to return defective products. It's a shame!
The newest firmware update has solve this kind of issue. Delete the automatic breaking system and the overheated problem has been solve by up raise its value of temperature to warning.
I've had a love hate relationship with this board. It feels like a gamble every time I get on. I've been thrown off 3 times due to the brakes locking up. First time I got the overheating battery message. Now, when I get that message, I stop. But I've had the board lock up the brakes twice with no warning at over 15mph and thankfully only got road rash both times. I get bad battery sag below 30%
Also, I only get about 6-7 usable miles out of a charge and I've turned off turbo mode hoping it helps prevent the random locking of the brakes. I'd sell the board, but then I don't want to put someone else at risk.
@@karenzhang1020 I couldn't ride it for a few months because of the problems and a replacement battery was delayed due to covid impacts on batteries. I received the replacement battery last week and I've only had time for one ride so far. I plan to take it with me on vacation next week and I pray the new battery fixes the problem. If it does, I just hope the problem doesn't come back as I only had 300 miles and a few months on my first battery, and half of those miles I was experiencing the problems.
Thanks for the safety warning. I own a Flex too and have not ridden it enough to run into this issue but feel unsafe knowing that the brakes can lock up at and moment. Exway, if you're reading this, send us a firmware update fix, you are putting your customers in danger!
Basically there's no customer service they got an answer for everything but results are nothing except that they have your money My Flex just sit at home and I ride a cheaper board which is a ownboard W2 kit board I put together myself is much better than the flex I consider the flex a $700 boat anchor
Not one review has ever mentioned this... and realistically who rides all the time at full speed? Do you only ride on highways with cars and motorcycles? 😳
I'm sure they will have a firmware update. But it sounds like you are the only one with this issue. Alot of videos on this board out there that doesn't describe this issue
Mine broke and they sent a new battery so i immediately sold it. This board is complete shit tbh. All the smart bms features cause so many issues and honesty it so unreliable.Waiting 4 months to preorder. Don't buy it
