Thank you! I have been having problems with my eye and it makes sense because I have been watching my phone at night with the effected eye religiously! I could not believe how amazing the eyes are and eye health is so important! Thank you for your excellence!

Hi Dr. Denton - I got the Bruder mask. Thank you so much for recommending it. However, it doesn't retain the heat long enough to keep on for more than 8 minutes or so despite having left it in the micro long enough to get hot at first. If it is no longer even warm after 10 minutes, how is it effective for another 5 minutes? Or do you recommend heating it up again for the additional time?

Got mine on Amazon. Works great.

Every time I hear a doctor recommending to use a warm compress for 10+ minutes it confuses me. I heat up my mask more than is recommended, and it still completely loses most of the heat well before it reaches the 10 minute point. Also, is the goal to try and secrete as much liquid from the eyes as possible? Because for me, rice in socks does that much more effectively than all the masks I have tested, but even when I'm drenching my face with oils from my eyes after doing the warm compress, I still experience extreme dryness and soreness throughout the day when looking at my computer monitor.

Hey, thanks for your comment! Here's a little more recent video I did on warm compresses: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pw_efQRzk0k.html In that video, I get more into the research around warm compresses and what we're looking for them to do. Essentially we're looking for the "meibum" to reach 40-45 deg Celsius. At that temp we can get it to flow and unclog the glands. I don't care much which method you use but it needs to get the glands to that level of heat and expressability. I've gotten away from recommending rice in a sock simply because the results vary so much. With the commercially available brands I know what outcome to expect (ex. a homemade warm compress could be made larger/smaller with thinner/thicker sock and could burn the patient). Lastly, I'd ask your doctor about other methods. I do tearcare in-office to unclog glands but there are other in-office treatments like iLux and Lipiflow. Hope that is helpful. I've made videos about a lot of these topics as well!

Hi Dr. Denton, and Happy New Year 2021! I am thoroughly enjoying your content. Thank you. I am a Licensed Esthetician. I was wondering, would it be a good idea to incorporate the Bruder Eye Hydrating Mask into my facial treatments? Of course, I would gift it to my clients after the initial use. After viewing your video, I thought is would be a great way to introduce this great product and enhance my client's experience while simultaneously promoting a healthy eye treatment along with skin care. What do you think?

Thank you so much! I love the idea of a Bruder mask during a facial! Especially if your client has a history of dry eye or Rosacea. Just make sure to do 10 minutes of heat and then if it is part of your treatment, gentle massage of the lids could even be helpful to free the oil. I love the idea! I have toyed with hiring an Esthetician and having an "eye spa" in my office. Great stuff!

Hi there! I have oily skin so should I wash my face with facewash before using this mask and use it on dry skin? I usually do my skincare routine after using this mask so my face cream doesn’t get on it

No, it'll help tear film but unfortunately not with floaters since they're internal to the eye. Do you have dry irritated eyes as well?
