How to warm compress? Here I review how I like to do them.
Warm compresses work best by
Providing constant heat
Do them for at LEAST 10 minutes at a time
Repeat at least daily for dry eye symptoms or blepharitis
Repeat at least four times per day in cases of a stye or chalazion
PRO TIP: Gentle massage over the eyelids will help push melted oils out of the blocked Meibomian glands and allow them to produce new oils.
Wash Cloth Method
Pro:
- Inexpensive
Cons:
-Needs to be reheated frequently
-takes longer to finish
-Can be messy
-Waste of water
Sock with Dry Rice
Pro:
-fairly inexpensive
Cons:
-Need to repeat for each eye
-Potentially a cause for infection (I gave myself a stye once doing this)
