Bushnell Launch Pro - I no longer have it because I traded it for the GCQuad. I would still recommend this as the best portable launch monitor for most people.

If you are not in the US, the Launch Pro is not available for you so I would recommend the Foresight GC3. It is the same exact launch monitor with different branding.

As always good info. Thanks. I love my hybrid tee large full-hitting mat. Been using it for about 6 months.

Awesome! Did you add anything under it or is it directly on cement?

I have a 6 x 6 Ez tee hybrid plus mat that I use as a stand and hitting combo for almost 3 yrs and have no elbow pain at all. It lays directly on the concrete of my garage. The only time I experienced pain was when I was trying to hit down really hard. Like going over the top. At first it felt squishy when standing on it but now don’t even noticed it. I even placed my GC3 on it and never missed a reading. I ordered mine directly from Canada and had it sent to me here in California.

I didn't think about the squishiness affecting a launch monitor but good to know it doesn't!

I’ve been using a 1x3 strip cut into a mat and started to develop a bit of pain in my wrist (old injury as well). Putting a yoga mat underneath helps but may still look to upgrade. Your series comparing various has been a God-send. Good review, enjoying your content.

Glad it's helped. Nothing worse than causing an injury while you're just trying to practice...

I've gone through a number of different mats with my sim. It turned out that I was not being punished enough indoors for fat shots, which became very evident when I played outside. I switched to the EZ tee hybrid to address this problem and it worked very well. It really punishes fat shots, and it has made me hit the correct shot much much more. I personally think this is the very best indoor mat, if your goal is to get better outdoors

I think it's because it's actual strands of 1" turf rather than putting turf like a lot of mats use. It will catch the leading edge instead of just sliding across.

Great channel, incredible content. I have a similar setup as u and need to fit my ez hybride strip into my fiberbuild mat ( i have the mate with the extra mat for a lanch monitor. I can't find locally the 1/4" pvc sheet can i substitute it with a 1/4" piece of wood? Or, would it be too hard to hit on it? Thanks
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom Год назад
You could probably use wood and it wouldn’t make a difference. Some people put the EZ Tee directly on concrete. I would prefer something softer though. Maybe check an arts & crafts store or hardware store for some kind of rubber or foam that might work. I would recommend glueing it down because mine started to bunch up in the front after hitting for a while. Wish I could help more! Thanks for watching!

Just pulled the trigger on a 4x8 Player Preferred. After a couple of weeks of playing on an EZ Tee Hybrid hitting strip (directly on concrete) I agree about the grabby-ness and not as much forgiveness as I need in the garage sim. I don’t have an injury (yet) but I can feel that will happen if I don’t go with a more forgiving option. Hoping the player preferred is that solution. Would love to hear your thoughts directly comparing the EZ Tee to the Player Preferred
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom Год назад
I would say I felt the same about the EZ Tee Hybrid. It’s not like it was bad but I could feel a little something that would probably result in an injury down the road (making my existing injury worse to be more accurate). The Player Preferred is very different. It has shorter turf (maybe putting turf or a little longer) so nothing will feel grabby. Out of the box it feels like there’s no cushion underneath which is strange. Hitting on it feels fantastic and produces a really nice sound with your irons. It’s odd that there’s no squishy feeling about it anywhere but it seems to somehow absorb the vibration in the shaft. Be prepared to be a little skeptical when you open the box but somehow it feels much better than it looks. Hope you like it!

I just received my Fiberbuilt Player Preferred and holy cow! There’s no contest IMHO, especially if the mat is directly on a hard surface (concrete in the garage in my case). Hitting one after the other simulating a fat shot, the EZ Tee Hybrid has so much shock and is so grabby compared to the Player Preferred. I understand now why people say you get what you pay for in hitting mats. I haven’t tried the EZ Tee Hybrid on top of carpet padding (as it would be in a studio install) but I imagine it might be more forgiving. But the way it grabs is a deal breaker for me

Glad you're loving the Player Preferred! It's not necessarily soft but somehow there's no shock and shots feel fantastic on it.

I have this hitting strip as well and have experimented with some gel underneath as well as using it on top of the Holy Grail/Divot Action. Mixed results so far. With the two sided velcro - Does that hold well? If so, what brand/type do you use? Thanks.
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom Год назад
The Velcro kept it from sliding forward and bunching up towards the front but it came right off the first time I tried to pull it apart. The adhesive on the Velcro didn’t stick to the bottom of the ez tee very well. It was just 1” wide so it might have done better with a wider strips. Not sure of the brand.

gonna test this one out. 2x4 is on sale 99 bucks right now. at this point i cant justify spending +500 on a mat

So i have kind of a random question to ask. For those videos where you used your Fiberbuilt studio mat setup and rotated in the strip you were testing for your video (I believe this would include the Holy Grail strip, Fiberbuilt Grass strip, Carl's Divot and EZ Tee Hybrid), it looks like you completely reconfigured the original rubber "tray" setup of your studio setup to align with a much narrower strip than the original setup with your full 8X4 configuration. In the original configuration, the player preferred "strip" appears to be much wider than some of these other strips and it's aligned more towards the middle, and in the videos mentioned above, those strips look about 6-8 inches narrower and you've got them right up against the edge of the rubber frame. It's not clear to my poorly spatial concept eyes how you would have reduced that original configuration and reconfigured the trays the way you did to accept the (what appears to be) much narrower 3rd party strips. Any chance you could explain how you manipulated that tray setup for the narrower strips? I'm asking because the setup you have in the reduced structure (looks to be about 5x4 now) would be perfect for what i'm trying to do with my first ever home practice setup and i was just wondering how to get from the full blown 8x4 to what you show in some of those test strip videos.

So for all those I was using my Fiberbuilt traditional grass 5x4 mat - fiberbuiltgolf.com/products/4-x-5-single-sided-traditional-stance-mat-system-nylon-grass I removed the grass hitting strip that's 12" wide and put it in all the other 12" wide hitting strips - holy grail, carl's, ez tee hybrid. The fiberbuilt player preferred was a whole separate mat and is the full 4x8 size. The 4x8 uses 2x2 rubber tiles that connect together to make the "tray" and my original grass mat that's 5x4 is a one piece tray (super heavy). So you had it all right but I was just using 2 separate mats! Hope that helps!

You placed this in your fiberbuilt mat. How does this compare to the Fiberbuilt turf? I currently have the fiberbuilt launch pad as i had ielbow issues with my old mat and they disappeared with the fiberbuilt launchpad..
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 11 месяцев назад
The ez tee turf is more dense and feels more realistic than the fiberbuilt grass. It’s only about 1” thick with nothing underneath it. For me I would have to add a layer of foam or something under it to absorb some impact on the shorter clubs that I hit down on more. I would be cautious with an existing elbow injury.

Where did you get the hitting box -- that holds the synthetic turf?

It’s the rubber base from the fiberbuilt traditional grass mat that I already had.

I bought one of these to compare to my modified HG mat and I have to say, I thought it was easily one of the worst hitting mats I've ever used. To me it feels exactly like a CCE mat, extremely grabby and difficult to hit down and through the ball. There's a bunch of people who love it over on the GSPro discord, which is what prompted me to try it, so there must be something positive about it, but I threw mine away almost immediately it was so bad. Maybe there's some major manufacturing variation going on?
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 11 месяцев назад
I felt the "grabby" feeling too, not every swing but enough to scare me out of using it long-term. I'm not sure I understand why it's as popular as it is either. I think a lot of people don't really hit down on the ball. It might be good with a layer of foam under it but I wasn't interested in experimenting.
@williamhumber5890
@williamhumber5890 11 месяцев назад
@@friendlygolferdotcom I affixed a 1/2" layer of squishy yoga mat foam to the bottom and it gives the mat a bit more give, but it doesn't help with the grabby feeling. On a side node I used 1" thick strips of the same foam to replace the ultra squishy foam on the bottom of my holy grail mat and it completely transforms it, gets rid of the hollow bouncy feeling and makes it feel like hitting off a slightly damp fairway.
