F-14s vs MiG-28s - May 1986, a Danger Zone in the Indian Ocean (April Fools 2022)

13th May 1986 - the USS Enterprise is rushed to the Indian Ocean to provide air support to the rescue of a communications relay ship that is adrift in enemy territorial waters. F-14 Tomcats are scrambled to face the deadly new enemy fighter, the MiG-28. Very few have seen it close before, and faulty intelligence ill-prepares the pilots for a showdown in the danger zone.

Fun fact: the pilot of Voodoo 3 is still flying today. He’s the last US Navy pilot in service with multiple air to air kills to his name.
@scarecrow108productions7
@scarecrow108productions7 2 года назад
And rumors heard that he also became a test pilot for SkunkWorks' newest top secret hypersonic reconnaissance aircraft program. But due to the NDA signed by the pilot of Voodoo 3, OPSEC Protocols must be preserved at an all time high. No further info was disclosed about the program. However, we now hear that there were rumors of Chinese Intelligence Satellites orbiting over NAS China Lake and presumably photographed the aircraft.

I’ve heard he’s even turned down several promotions just so he can stay as an instructor at the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center. Which is crazy because the pilot of Voodoo 1 managed to make it all the way to Admiral.

AIM-54 Phoenix missile including 2x Sidewinders. It would be highly unusual for you know... the WHOLE REASON for the Tomcats existence to not be executed in such a manner... Unusual how Navy fucked that up. It's almost like it wasn't written by USN at all. *sarcasm*

Not only did it demonstrate low observability characteristics when 5th gen fighters were just a dream, but they were able to go toe-to-toe in a fight with the USN's premiere fleet interceptor at the time.
