I had the same issue when I just started out in the DCS F-16 and it took me a while to figure out why. I wish there was a video that actually mentioned it back then 😅 Glad I was able to help!
Brilliant videos thank you so much. Please try to remember when you say "lock the target" etc. to always mention what button you're using for us noobies to note. Again, great tuition thanka a mill :)
Hey, I just saw one of your vids, so I came over to your page and watched a couple and I now think you have the BEST tutorial DCS vids i have seen so I subscribed for sure. Thanks for your great vids!!
Brilliant videos! After watching a whole lot of different tutorials, your videos are finally what i've been looking for. Very educational, thorough and easy to listen to. I hope this channel continues to grow!
Needing to bore sight them to the TGP sounds like a REAL headache. Should be a ground crew option or just considered to have been completed on arming. I love the detail of DCS,but sometimes they take it too far. Next we will need to adjust our tire pressure.
I think it's fine that we need to do it. Maybe there should be a special option in the settings for "Mavericks pre aligned" but I don't think it doesn't make sense or is taken too far. I think that with enough repetition it becomes very easy and quick too. But I can understand not liking it haha. Hopefully an option like I mentioned will be added one day!
That's so awesome to hear! Thank you so much for watching it and commenting :D I'm super glad to hear it helped you and feel welcome to reach out to me with whatever you might need :) Would also help a lot if you share this with anyone you know who might want to learn the F-16 in DCS ;) Thanks again!
@@MamboDCS Oh trust me I’ll be sharing this to anyone IK who buys the DCS F-16 or even anyone I want to convince to get it. You made it so simple and easy to follow along!
Congrats for your growing channel! There is a reason for this, you provide clear and precise directions that help Viper pilots to utilize their weapon of choice. I am wondering if you pressed the Cage/Uncage button it that would allow the seeker head of the Maverick to be able to see the target without forcing you to drop down in order for it to see it - or not?
Thank you so much for the kind words! If you're far enough from the target the Maverick should be able to dive onto the target just fine even without you pointing down but the closer you go the more G's that Maverick will have to face to turn downwards and there's a point where it can be too much for it so you need to help it by pointing downwards a bit yourself ;)
Great video! Still need to get used to zoom in on the TGP after putting it on narrow. I always run out of time/get too close to the target before I get a decent track on it. Will try the 10-15 miles out and looking to reassign some controls so I can use an axis for the zoom!
Thank you and thank you for watching! Going 15 miles out of the target should help but if you need more time don't be afraid to go 20 miles out! As you practice it more you can shorten it :) If you need any help I'm available on my Discord and happy to help!
Hi James :) Yeah, sorry :/ I've just become busier and burnt myself out a bit... I don't think I'm done with RU-vid but I'm not sure when I'll make a comeback. I'm still on my Discord as usual if you want to communicate with me :) Sorry for being gone 😅
@MamboDCS Thanks for the response. I understand it's a lot of work doing these videos. I don't quite understand why, but the way you explain the system and processes in the F16 just made sense to me. I was literally fixing to give up on it. I would read the manual and do the lessons it just never clicked. Until I found your videos. I am grateful for the help.
@jamesmcd71 thanks man, I appreciate it. I try my best to explain things clearly and concisely and I'm glad it helped you! Will definitely try to continue soon enough!
I'm glad it helped! For most weapons, and especially with MAVs I suggest 10-15 miles before turning back in. This is even more important when you're just starting out in the F-16 or with a new type of weapons.
I'm trying to learn the Mavrick and I have all kinda problems I finally did manage to lock on with the H(this is the first video I've seen that mentions you need to soi and tms up manually with the H model) so I didn't know that. But after the first hit. The mav refused to be slaved to the tpod. I locked on with the tpod and the mav was looking into the sky. No matter how many times I pressed the pre on it. The mav was completely unwilling to get slaved to the tpod.
I personally don't like to use the auto hand off. I'll still use the pre tgp setting and manually lock with the agm. I can point track a moving target and then wait to get closer that way or if the boresight is off at all, I just slew it a little.
Hi Mambo, great tutorial, I keep coming back to refresh as yours is so well explained. Can I just ask what map are you using and what are the co ordinates of where you have your target tanks. Keep up the good work my friend 👍
I'm sorry but you left out the fuze arming delay sequence on the D model Maverick. Failure to accomplish this procedure will result in a Maverick false lock about 50 percent of the time..
That's the proper realistic way to do it. In DCS you can do it with MASTER ARM off and ground jettison off but in real life you need MASTER ARM in SIMULATE and ground jettison on. I do it just for the sake of realism even if it isn't modeled in the sim :)
Very good. Have learned a great deal through watching your videos on F-16. One question… On the TGP MFD I have Wide and Narrow view and in addition have finer zoom control using radar elevation control. However, on the Maverick MFD I have wide and narrow view but do NOT seem to have the same finer zoom control that I have on the TGP MFD. What am I missing? Do I need to bind separate controls to obtain fine grained zoom control on the Maverick MFD??? Cheers!
@@MamboDCS OK, many thanx for clearing that up for me. I thought I’d followed you guides step by step. All seemed to work on the ground, set up TGP, and boresighted Mavericks but, once in the air… All fell apart! Could not get Mavericks to sync with TGP in fact could not get Mavericks out of ‘Nav’ mode??? Will have another go shortly! Must be missing a key step somewhere!
Question regarding choosing tv or ir mavericks…does the maverick seeker need to have a high contrast image of whatever the tgp has passed on for lock? Let’s say it’s day time and I chose the G variant which I believe has an ir seeker…I lock on to something with the tgp which doesn’t have a heat signature…auto handoff doesn’t produce a lock even though I’m within the 7 miles….is this because it needs a high contrast object to lock on to?
If the background is as hot as the object, it can be pretty hard for the Maverick to lock onto it. I hope this answers your question 😅 Let me know if you need more help :)
Ahhh, ok, not available on Mavericks. Watch my video on JDAMs where I explain it :) The feature I use to do it is a little broken right now, only allowing 2 targets rather than 3, but it'll be fixed and work just fine hopefully soon ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s35YxyThNg4.html
Great video! I have the winning base 2 and f16 throttle. My radar cursus zoom has an annoying delay, it takes me a few spins to avtually zoom in. How can i fix this
Do you have to have preset waypoints in order to even use the TGP? I'm having the hardest time slewing it to point where I want it to and by the time I finally swing it around I've already overshot the target of interest. I wish there was a way to boresight the TGP. Most of the time it seems to do whatever it wants and is painfully slow to get to point where I need it QUICKLY.
You have the option to use SP (snow plow) which slaves the TGP to look forward and slightly down from the aircraft that might help you. Also, a good solution would be setting a Markpoint using the HUD or HMCS and then switching to the MKPT which will move the TGP to it :)
@@MamboDCS Is setting a Markpoint as simple as single button press, or do you have to go through the rigmarole of looking up and punching in coordinates on the fly? (no pun intended)
For some reason my Maverick D's never align correctly in AUTO handoff mode. I do the boresight alignment on the ground per the procedure, once I get in the air however I get the message that auto handoff is in progress....the maverick D's seeker changes position but it is not on the target. FYI when I am bore sighting on the ground I do select the target with TMS up and then select Boresight then deselect TMS down prior to concluding....
MAV PRE mode is currently broken. Hopefully it will be fixed soon! Until then there's nothing much we can do unfortunately :( You can use VIS or BORE modes as shown in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N-mLGHTqt2w.html
Is the master arm to simulate and ground jettison on how you’re supposed to officially do it? I can bore sight it with master arm on and no ground jettison on.
Yeah, the F-16 MAVs PRE mode is currently broken. Hopefully it will be fixed soon :) There's no real work around that I know of except for using VIS mode
Never been dumb enough to try 😂 But you can slave the TGP to the A-A radar so maybe that way you can try... Sounds like a little bit of a fun experiment to try ;)
Been a while since I took the Viper out of the hangar, but I recall we used to be able to load 10 Maverick. Did the 'USAF-realism-at-all-costs' get their way?
