Obviously I’m not the guy in this video but I do have a lot of experience with installing audio equipment. The thing I notice the most when installing speakers on your vehicle when connecting them to a stock system is a much greater degree of clarity. Typically, you’re not going to get more out of the speakers depending on the rms requirements of the speakers you’re installing. More meaning, more bass or more midrange. Without an aftermarket amplifier, you’re not going to see much bass or midrange improvement because it requires more power to push those components of a speaker.

I totally agree. An amp is a future thought for me. Though the primary reason I decided to install these was the difference I noticed in installing the rear speakers. It may be placebo I admit, but I did feel like there was more clarity and bass response.

you should get the tall adhesive foam rings to seal these to the door panel. It helps bass a ton by not letting backwaves from the leaky door sneak past the 6x9 and out of the grill. Easy to go back and put some in. It is really worth the $15. Nice install video though, this will help my buddy with his F250 soon. Thanks

Good choice of speakers. I'm with you as loss of hearing is a pain. From other videos that I've watched, speakers don't do much for the B and O system as it's programmed by Ford to sound a certain way.

So I have a 2020 f150 stx will I need to get an amplifier in order to use these speakers? Or will I be able to just plug and play and will they sound better ?

I'm not sure about the amp. My truck had one built in. As far as sound, that is subjective. In my case, I thought they had greater clarity and thump.

I know this is an old video but I am upgrading as well right now and I have already hit issues. How were these JL speakers with the volume up? Did you ever notice these speakers clipping out or popping? I have the B&O in my 22' Lariat and I bought some decent Infinity Reference 6x9's and the audio was SOOOO much better. However, within the first few days, I eventually made it through the playlists to some thumping songs and the speakers I installed started clipping out at loud sound levels. I measured the power and I wasn't exceeding watts and the ohms match. But above Volume 20 the speakers began cutting out really bad every time the bass hit, with a loud pop. So now I'm looking for "better" speakers to try. I wasn't trying for increased quality of a multi-amp setup. Honestly, I just thought that the stock B&O sounded muddy, no matter the EQ settings and so I was looking for more crisp highs than the stock paper cones are capable of without having to run wire for component speakers. Thanks for the info!

I'll be honest, what you're describing sounds like what my original speakers were doing. Though I don't think I cranked the volume quite that high. I believe the factory amp has some attenuation of the signal at higher volumes to protect the speakers built into the logic. I wonder if that could be the case for he sound?

Thanks for the clear install vid. Were the OEM speakers 8ohms? What ohms were the JLs? Also I assume you had the B&O sound system in your platinum. What's your thoughts on those. I have a 23 on order with B&O unleashed but imagine they will eventually be replaced

The factory speakers measure at 4.4 ohms at the magnet so I imagine they are rated at 4ohms. The JL’s are rated at 4ohms as well. I have the B&O system. In all honesty it’s not bad. Pretty clear and decent low end. I was hoping for a little more low end out of these and feel like it’s there even if I don’t have a better amp, yet.

Does anybody know if the speakers will work in an 2022 f150

When I look at the Crutchfield website it looks like you would need to run a different speaker. They have lots of options though.

😊What difference in sound did you notice the most?

It feels as though there is more clarity. As in even though I can't hear very well some of the words are coming through better. I want to believe there is better bass response but that is far more subjective.
