This player makes this game look a lot easier than it really is. After 6 months and a destroyed controller, I finally beat this game about 17 years ago. I thank games like F-Zero GX for giving me cat reflexes today.
There is actually a Game Theory out there that suggests that F-Zero is like WWE, in that it is all fake story and action just for the purposes of entertainment in the 23rd century. This theory is corroborated by the Black Shadow cutscene you get after beating a Master Class GP with him. No one knows if it is actually true, but it would make this story mode make at least a little bit of sense.
MJP823 lol this is nothing. Playing this on normal and hard is a joke. Now playing it on very hard, finishing the cups on master difficulty and beating all the staff ghosts is what divided the gamers and the good gamers apart.
I don't know what's more absurd, Captain Falcon getting roped into a gambling scheme by a random old drunk and somehow a cape and a clown mask are enough for people not to recognize him, or Captain Falcon racing cyber zombie Satan and the three gods for his immortal soul?
*Faces off against the actual creators of the universe* "Come off it.. you think YOU can beat ME?! No way!" Hahaha, gets me every time. Cheesiest story and manliest video game character of all time.
That last level uses the same textures, background and music as another course of the game, Phantom Road. It was originally going to be an actual Rainbow Road course like in F-Zero X, but since the visual effects they used (bright colors rapidly changing) were too likely to cause seizures, they toned it down and changed it's name to Phantom Road.
Also, the same thing happened to me when I first beat chapter 7 on normal. After killing Black Shadow and Blood Falcon, I thought I had nothing to fear. But no, by the near end of the final lap, it looked like I was screwed. It looked like The Skull and Mighty Gazelle were gonna beat me. But no, I ended up finishing first by recklessly boosting. And from the looks of things, I too looked like I was in first place for one frame.
Glad to see people are still enjoying it even today. I bought this game at launch and I actually drew up a hand-drawn calendar to cross off the days until its release. Every day I'd wake up before school and cross another day off, haha. I was 13 at the time. Still one of my favourite games ever.
This season on F-Zero... Captain Falcon faces one of this toughest tests yet. If he survives, he must face a challenge tougher than that, green-lighting a Nintendo Switch enhanced version of this game with extra tracks, plus new improved versions of DD-1, DD-2 and Edit Cup league tracks. And also... See Princia prove that in future motorsport, you can have a hot belly dancer's body and still win. See Princia and her vehicle, Spark Moon (and Spark Moon Mark II in F-Zero GX/AX Switch (F-Zero GX/AX Kai in Japan) tough out the best tracks the F-Zero has to offer, and watch her give us a victory belly dance when she wins!
This game and many other old games proves how Practice makes the master. I remember repeating and repeating the second mission, fourth, fifth, sixth and last mission over and over again until I finally finished them. The feeling satisfaction of unlocking Deathborn was so good until I've heard about the AX pilots and I said fuck it lol. I want to play this game again but this time completing it.
Took me weeks/months to beat some of the stuff as a kid which I beat in about 5 hours now. Feelsgoodman. I'm going for all the stuff now as well. Couldn't beat two missions on very hard the last time.
I remember i was about 14 years old and at my grandmas house. I brought my gamecube with me to play F-Zero. My brother was watching me when finally beat the last 2 Story chapters. Tough game but hell of a fun.
Man, sega had some insane workstations for those cutscenes. PLUS, this game is imo the most impressive one graphically on the entirety of the gamecube‘s library.
Captain Falcon is in my opinion one of the best games and will always be for me. It was just such a different game than the others. TRUTH IS I NEED ONE ON THE SWITCH
Nintendo: "We don't want want to make a new F-Zero. There's nothing new we can do which'll mean no-one will like it and it'll be uninteresting." Also Nintendo: "Here's your annual Pokemon games!"
@@MasterJim2020 I wouldn't count on it. That producer also made the yakuza games. F zero was never a real money maker like the other nintendo franchises so it's safe to say he probably has other priorities. I wish I where wrong but that's how consumerism works.
I'd forgotten that this game has such great musical atmosphere! One of Nintendo's masterpieces. Bought it when it came out and I still try to beat it every now and then but it kicks my ass badly!
the nostalgic pain this brought me, good memories. the sound track is still awesome and gets me hyped to get my ass whooped. this game also has the most satisfying sound effect for selecting something when you press a
OMG I need to play this game again. I remember I used to get stressed out playing story mode trying to save Jodi but eventually I did. And the stupid bomb on the Blue Falcon, that drove me nuts. I had to take a break and a metaphorical Xanax (lol). But Playing the Grand Prix mode was so much fun. This game is awesome, the design is amazing, difficulty levels are challenging and so much fun. :-)
Dude you literally copied my mind. Lol! I felt the EXACT same way about jody and the timebomb. Screw Blood Falcon!! Anyways, this game was a masterpiece. So good till this day today. 👍
The only thing that made the mission with the bomb mounted on falcon’s car so stressful, is the absurd amount of distance to travel while maintaining a specific amount of speed.
When I first got it. I beat the main story and used an unlock everything cheat that bugged my game. (Couldn't play story mode, just watch the cutscenes) So I had to do everything legit and the only mission I never beat was stage one on very hard. Don't know how to swerve my car and get all the items at the last bit of the lap. It's so amazing how many skips and things you could manipulate by making the AI go nuts to get in front of you. A lot of the problem racers on tracks you could just outright break and make the mission a breeze. The one on one race? He's got a ton of health, but you can trash his car too. Probably the easiest race in story mode lol. But... no you're not beating the fire stingray, I have no idea if you can break that thing. Maybe that was a nod to how busted the car was in the past.
@@derekmaullo2865 Maybe not impossible. But hard and very hard aren't available from the start. Initially the first chapter on normal makes for an ideal warm up.
That is not how I imagined it when playing F-ZERO (SNES) and watched the booklet. But it looks good. Nintendo should make an "authentic" F-ZERO "(SNES)" remake for switch or newer consoles (in 2023)
I will be honest. I owned this on launch day & still own my copy today at 35 years old. I haven’t revisited the game in over a decade at least. When I first played it, I never finished the story mode. I remember it being very difficult. I may find that feeling different now that I am 35 years old now but I wanted to watch this video to see the whole Story mode out of curiosity. I never imagined how silly & campy these characters were. There were many moments that made me laugh out loud. I did not expect this. Perhaps this has a small something to do with why this franchise has been absent since this game’s launch?.. Who knows… You know, it’s also off putting to see this portrayed in this manner too.. I mean, the whole vibe of F-Zero (to me anyways) gave off this dark utopian future where futuristic nitro powered floating vehicles that you race were a way of life and all these characters we have known and loved through the F-Zero legacy had their own goals and ambitions for being the best and doing whatever they wanted to or with the world they lived in. Comparing that notion with what we are given with the anime’s plot were my two real impressions that the universe of F-Zero was way more dark and serious than well.. Black Shadow doing random happy dances and flailing about & Samurai Goro not being able to keep his arms at his side for more than 3 seconds lol! I felt like I was watching an episode of Mighty Morohin Power Rangers Season 1 lol! Nevertheless thanks for posting this. It may still be some time before I pick this up again with my original copy but now I know what to expect for my own eventual revisit lol!
This story would’ve been good if the main character was a custom character and they are training to get into the F-Zero Grand Prix, but they have to do some sort of tasks to not only progress the story, but earn lost of money for their racing machine and other unlockables.
It is intrinsically hilarious that when a trio of evil all-powerful entities transports him to a magical void plane, threatening to steal his soul, Captain Falcon's first reaction is "Come off it, you think YOU can beat ME?!"
I feel like this game feels hard but less difficult on Novice difficulty. I was expecting story mode to be long but oh well. Would it be the “it takes a few tries to clear the mission” thing, yes?
Maybe the player had prior experience. It was tough for me the first time around but beat most missions in 5 tries or less returning to the game (on normal).
I thought so too, but he comes from f zero on the snes (only in the manual) and his actual appearance in f zero x on the Nintendo 64 and they are all racing games.
You have the buy the next levels in the shop. Unfortunately you don't get enough credits by completing the level to unlock the next so you have to do some grand prix's.
