A custom F1 universe on F1 Challenge 99-02 continues here with the 1988 Mexican Grand Prix. The fourth episode of "Streamline".
Here we are with round 4 of the 1988 season. Streamline have struggled through the previous two races and we desperately need to at least record a finish here today. Piquet still leads the Championship but with McLaren bringing an upgrade here, it will be tough to look past a McLaren victory here in Mexico.

I can't ask enough times for Roberto Pupo Moreno, the legend, the supersub in all his glory. He won points in an AGS, he qualified an Andrea Moda, he won 2nd place in a Benetton alongside Piquet...and is a very nice guy, by the way.

I don't know if it's just me but this series is so brilliant, i can't imagine all the effort to get things set up and run correctly this series and this channel deserves so much more love. Keep it up James:)

This is quickly becoming my favourite f1 series. Especially with the AI results determining the storyline (injuries, bad performance etc). So I'm wondering will it be a complete rewrite of history? Could Prost leave McLaren early? Piquet to a better team? Lotus resurgence from the brink of collapse? 👀

Yep, anything can happen! The only thing I won't allow is driver deaths as that would just feel a bit strange

I think Alesi and Herbert are the best options for a seat at Streamline in 1989 and for test driver maybe Hakkinen and reserve Andrea De Cesaris just putting in my options

I have found 4 drivers that might be interesting as a test/reserve driver -Mike Thackwell He has done a few races in F1 already. And he has won multiple races in formula 3000 and other classes in recent years. And -Marco Apicella He has taken a few points in Formula 3000. And has taken multiple wins in Formula Three And -Pascal Fabre Last season he drove for AGS and he managed a few top tens. And -Huub Rothengatter Eventhough he isnt showing it at tyrrell this season, he has shown in the past in both Formula One and Formula Two that he does have the pace.

Next to Nokia as a suggestion I have Puma. I don't think that clothes companies are looking for the best seat on the grid, so they would be a good suggestion. Then I thought about Atari. I think Atari was still good on the market in this era of gaming.

Herbert is still an option In my mind. If he wants to come to Streamline, I am thinking about a 1 or 2 year(s) contract for the beginning.

Johnny Herbert might be a good driver for the future, if the team could get him. For later this season, reliable old Andrea De Cesaris might be availalble to race and you never know, he might have contacts at Marlboro for a good sponcer... Emanuele Pirro could be a good choice of test/reserve drive after he leaves McLaren, unless he has eyes on a race seat himself. Other test suggestions could be young Alan McNish, Eddie Irvine or Damon Hill in F3000. Would Mike Thackwell reconsider retiring from mortorsport this year to be a test/reserve driver? He was really talented!

@JamesEarly Probably nearly 19 in F3 around 1988, but did do testing for McLaren when they had Honda engines. So test driver I meant. Please consider Andrea Marlboro De Cesaris for second seat! ;)

Great job from Alliot to get another top 10 the Body upgrade is looking good, Yannick might be forcing the car too much on the corners (we are looking into it). The team is hoping for points soon and we are looking to do some upgrades on the Wings.

Bad luck again at race, waiting for points! About reserve/test driver: Alesi, De Angelis (who dies 2 years before), M Schumacher and later become first driver, Gachot or JJ Letho.

It was a good Race with a poor ending. I would say Nokia is a really good suggestion for a sponsor deal to the end of the season. This race has shown the real potential of the team at a race pace.

Not very happy with how our drivers at Benetton are fighting against eachother while they are in position to score some good points for the team, so we will def have to scream in their ears. Aside from that little bit of drama i think the upgrades have definetly helped us in the later stages of the race, some slight problems that arent very concerning so far, but we will keep looking for ways to improve

I think Nannini did have quite a bit of body damage from running wide at the final corner a bunch of times, definitely a lot of pace in the car though!

Unlucky for us. We'll make up for it next race. Some life at Lotus again: On the grid: RvF: Okay Nelson, the Williams and the Ferrari are absolutely beatable. Be easy on Berger or he might moan the Press full again. Start: RvF: Sorry Nelson. That's the electronics gone. NP: What a f****n sh**box! Post race: RvF: Must be some kind of curse on the Brazilian drivers this weekend. We'll make up for it on the next one. Mansell's blind. He clearly can't see something of a size of an F1 car moving towards the pitlane.
