Another point is like F1 22, the Force Feedback strength was greatly reduced compared to games prior. Also along those lines, when resuming from a flashback or pause the force feedback is absent for a few seconds

Its simply because all games build on the same foundation. And when the bug is in this code it will be again in the new game. Same you have in FIFA just in a 2 years cicle because 2 different studios create the game. So a bug you had 2 years ago will show up probaly again after 1 year without it…

Same happened last year. This engine is a mess and they can't get a hold of it. Codemasters should just start over but of course EA won't allow that cause that would mean skipping at least one year release.

F1 2020 is still a standout. If easily class '23 as the best game since 2020 but it's bugs seem to be wider and while not always game breaking, just annoying. Honestly, comparing F1 2020 to '23 the only thing I'd still love 2020 for is Vietnam and the classic cars, '23 does almost everything else better. So hopefully will be worth getting after 1.04/1.05 somewhere.

I bought it. I would not buy it if not the handling changes. Just alone those worth the money for me. I can't tell you how frustrating it was to race properly on F1 22 with a pad. Though I still yet to start the game, so if it isn't that much better than I will refund without any question. Edit: I tried the game out a little in Time Trial to get the feel of it. It's light years better handling wiser than last year's game. It also has a little bit of a learning curve to the new handling. The first time you drive will fell odd. Couple of other things: The podium pass is worthless if you aren't planning to play F1 World. 90% of the rewards are to F1 World. One negative thing I'm experiencing is that nighttime killing my PC. At daylight, I can run the game comfortably with high settings at a stable 75 FPS (That's what my monitor can do). But at night? 40 FPS or lower, even at Ultra Low settings.

The tedium did me in with F1 World. The concept is so strong, and the idea of a slow, RPG like progression over time with an F1 car is so appealing, I wouldnt even mind the strange difficulty curve. But it almost immediately devolves into a half collect-a-thon, half recycling simulator that requires every single operation to be done manually. I felt like all my 15 minutes of racing was buying me in F1 World was 15 minutes of chores to do before the next race.

He literally has better stats in every category than Hakkinen, a 2 time WDC who competed with the driver the game considers (stat wise) the greatest of all time. E.G. It's the brake balance that's the game changer for me. You need to be on top of it as the tyres age otherwise you'll snatch the rears. Personally I'm not bothered with Braking Wind, errr I mean Point, or any of the other contrived game modes - I just play the Grand Prix mode. FFB wise I preferred F1 22, 23 just feels... heavy and there was more info in 22, but you could argue that it gives weight to the cars making a bit more realistic. That said there's not that much in it. All in all I'm enjoying it. That said there's a ton bugs to be removed. Edited to add that: Red Flags being unusable is a big Red Flag - I'll get my coat.

I have a different opinion, but it is different because i do not play carreer mode at all, no braking point. I only play online and league racing. Things that are better: - Handling, however, they need to make more challenging on rain. Now it is just too easy. Maybe get the visibility worse or someting to let the experience better. Brake bias are nice but they need to punish more when you lock the rears. Otherwise people will use this to improve lap time by drifting (i.e Monaco - turn 6, Canada turn 10) - time trial leaderboard: That is awesome that they included all platforms; - contact model: When you make contact to another car in the last game, the cance of spinning was really high. Now it is improved, however when you clip somone on the rear, the car spins immediatelly which is not nice. Yesterday on PSGL social race, it looks like this happened with Jarno/Bari - Online stability: I must say that this improved a lot. Last game was just horrible and we can see that they made a step forward on this area. BUgs/ things to be changed : - Lost of FFB on fanatec wheel. - They dont allow play time trial on rain - Car disapeering during online races - Streaming using twitch on xbox not working Overall, for those who play online and not againist Ai, it is a good game. But i agree that the issues raised on this video are pretty hard to accept. Specially Ai difficulty, which makes the experience pretty boring even for non esport players. I'll wait for the patches. Lets hope the bug fixes does not ruin the online experience as it happened last game.

I am enjoying F1 23 quite a bit at the moment. With the changes of the handling model combined with changes they have also made to the controller, F1 23 as an extremely fun driving experience. (Unlike F1 23) I do agree with the majority of the “bad” points you made. F1 Worldnhas potential imo just needs some tweaking and ironing out, it’s clearly going to be the future of these games let’s be real. For me the game is worth it purely for the much better driving experience. Bought every codies F1 game too haven’t enjoyed playing the F1 game this much since F1 2020. The bugs need fixing ASAP though It is rather embarrassing from EA/Codemasters to make a big deal about Red Flags returning just for them to be broken from launch. Despite this, I’m really enjoying the game and having fun which is the main thing.

A friend of mine got given a wheel and mentioned to me the game was releasing. I wasn't too on top of it. For various reasons I'd not played 21 and 22 and i used a controller. I had to map that differently and turn on all assists as I just cant coordinate triggers and bumpers and all that. I've only just recently upgraded to win10 after a graphics card upgrade, I replaced my standard 1050 with a 4060ti and installed 2021, after playing through 2020 again. I was part way through the first round when my friend mentioned he got his brother's old wheel and 23 was releasing. Motivated by recent PC upgrades, I thought why not and looked for my own wheel. Picked up a brand new G29 and started 2021 again. My friend was already playing his early access 23 and we were sharing experiences of getting used to a wheel and what assists we were using. I couldnt afford 23 and didn't know when i'd be able to so my friend just goes and buys it for me. So for me, racing with a wheel for the first time in about 20 years, and the new cars, new tracks, there's more than enough to make me love the new game. I basically have to learn all t eh tracks again and learn how to drive again, so before each career mode round I go into the time trial of that track and get comfy with it. There's a massive difference between time trial and the my team car. Setups that felt good in TT likely wont work on your my team car. I struggle with setups a lot too. I dont know the nuances of setting up, what each track requires. I just spend ages tweaking it until I get something I can drive, trial and error. I'm absolutely pleased (in a good way) to hear that you are struggling with the quali programs. Luckily we dont get them every round. I was gutted as I forced myself to skip it first time I got it, but i feel a lot better about that now. I've found I tend to start the first season on 90, and bump it up to 94 for second season, I'm quite bad relatively. I thought with a wheel I'd go straight to 94. But it was just a bit too high. one thing that really, really annoyed me is you cant change the AI level in this case, you have to wait for the next round, so if you set it too high you basically have to junk round one. I ended up starting a new team just to change the difficulty. I dont understand why its locked out. Back in 2020 you had access to it on the pause options on the loading screens. Bad luck if you set it too high now. Overall I'm really enjoying the challenge of learning how to drive with a wheel and had a blast on Jeddah for the first time a few days ago, learning the track in time trial and taking it to career. Great observations, I'm one of "those people" as you put it, I'm not fast and compared to you I'm standing still :-) I'm on XBox One S using a PAD, auto gears and racing line. (I need all the help I can get tbh at my age), and I rarely go multiplayer and prefer solo. I also play F1 21 & 22. You've helped me rethink "F1 World". The game throws so many parts, contracts and crew at you it becomes difficult to figure out a strategy. Based on your feedback I dismantled everything from the garage to put me back at 100 tech-level. From this point I've been moving forward through 'Series' challenges making sure I don't overpower the car. I'm at tech-level 194 and taking on events at 250 level (beating AI on tech-levels in 270's). As you've observed the human player has an advantage out of the box, but I'm actually enjoying it very much now that I've got rid of all the OP parts and mods. Starting at the back of the grid to get to 10th/5th is good fun. Equally not happy that the Practice Session "Qualification" run is still bugged, it's even worse in Driver Career F2 as you can't even put the recommended tyres on the car. Overall, I'm actually very happy buying the Campions Edition (so far).

Here’s one for you: there’s an F1 event called the Community Grand Prix. The week before a real world race you can set a quali lap for that track (This week is Canada). When you quali, it warns you you’ll be locked with assists you use for a community race that weekend. I thought sure that makes sense, you should use the same settings you qualified in for the race. But it actually locks you in to those assists from all F1 World activities, including single player. So while I’m 10+ seconds ahead of the AI doing a Series I can’t even practice driving with no ABS or TC 🤣

I’m pretty new to f1 and have never touched a game before, so I’m not using a full racing setup like half the people here most likely, but I got it on ea play on my pc and I’ve been really enjoying it. Building up your team in career mode has been really enjoyable too imo. Again, I’ve never played a F1 game before so it could just be that stars in eyes honeymoon phase but I have played for over 20 hours as of now. I will say I’m struggling to fine tune the AI, I’m either winning races by 20 seconds or unable to crack the top 10. Will likely take some more driving and fiddling to get it perfect.

The problem of Braking point is that most of the times the player has to gain like 64 positions in 3 laps, and of course the IA has to go 3-4 seconds slower than the player in order to make it possible to recover so many position in such few laps. They should have given the player more laps to gain the desired amout of position, i.e. instead of giving 6 laps to gain 5 positions and making the IA go 3 seconds slower they could have given the player 30 laps of time with the IA only 0.5 seconds slower

Much like my other favourite annual sports franchise NHL, it simply wasn't worth forking out the money every year for incremental updates. Hey Alex! Great conversation this morning about the after-sprint race tire glitch and red flag glitch. It's amazing to me that the tire glitch still exists after all this time. Another thing that I thought was interesting was, since the beginning of my two-player career, my friend who is in a Ferrari, only got offered medium to hard strategy for the race, while I in a Mercedes was offered a medium soft for every race. Could this fall under the mixed strategy that you mentioned and if so does it make sense to do this to the actual player, rather than just the AI?

Could be just me, but the racing is quite shocking at the moment as you are likely shafted by someone who's not even touching you or a simple touch leaves you glued to the other car(s) lol. Hopefully improved, but other than that, the new handling is lovely and career seems like fun with the AI improvements.

theres also other issues with red flags. after a red flag there is sometimes another red flag for no reason about 2 to 3 seconds after the restart and also during the red flag it says you can repair some damage (floor damage, sidepod damage etc) but when the race restarts you will still have the damage you had before the red flag. currently the only damage that is fixed is front wing damage.

Also I noticed they didn't update the sprint format, they could've at least made it so that the sprint does not define the grid for the race, but no sadly, and the most important, they should add the option to turn off sprint in career mode, just like grand prix you can choose among the options of standard (no sprint), authentic (sprint for determined tracks decided irl) or sprint and race weekend (sprint for every track)

I also found another bug within red flags: when restarting on the grid I jumped started. Now normally that would be a DT if that happened at the beginning of a race but for some reason doing this on a red flag restart all I got was a lap time invalidation. So in theory it just allowed me to make up god knows how many positions. I don’t get how they can advertise this huge selling feature (which was present 10 years ago and worked) and it is completely broken. Like you said if they haven’t learned from the abomination which was the launch of F1 22 I find it really hard to see anything change in the future. Personally, I have refunded the game but will leave it a week or so to see some things get ironed out hopefully. I do see huge potential in F1 23 and want it to succeed so will just have to wait and see. Also I have used wheels on every F1 game since 2016 but I am intrigued to use controller instead this year as it looks greatly improved .

It feels like from what I've seen F123 is not worth buying unless it's heavily on sale. No improvements to career mode, the obvious bugs at the start of the launch cycle and features like the new tracks and braking point 2 (oh my god, how I came to loathe story modes in sports games, they are always garbage, they can't even make a stable game, what made them think they're hollywood writers all of a sudden) could've just been a dlc for F122. The new handling could've also just been patched into F1 22, paying 80 € for those miniscule improvements that could've just been a patch is asinine.

I got the normal f1 23 on Wednesday rather than Friday so yes that’s good. One big problem with the game is that the ai speed on the straights is so broken. Even in just a normal race. It’s like their downforce amount in between corners changes. Like they are so fast and grippy on the corners and they can still power past you on the straight. Even if you have a lower downforce on your car they still beat you. Ik there are different factors for bad straightline speed like an exit from a corner or DRS and ERS. Yet when you run a higher downforce, you can hardly get near on the ai in the straights and the ai still are good in the corners. I do think they should add more ai mistakes and also make the ai have different set ups. I do think they need to add better damage physics. Like with front wings. You can only seem to break off the emplates or the entire wing. I also think they need to add damage to barriers. This could justify red flags even more. But this is probably one of the most promising games that EA have ever made

Don’t add downforce for cornering. Add a FR and RR balanced medium ti high toe for better cornering speeds. Lower downforce slightly to balance out the grip. And you should be up there with em. However I stopped playing all EA made games due to their lack of integrity for making a sim racing game fail, again. So I moved to Asseto and iRacing. Much cleaner people out here. It’s like heaven.

Great review. Given the number of issues the games ship with each year, you'd think that EA would just switch to a two-year development cycle with a low-cost expansion/roster update between major releases instead. That would then allow the developers more time to add new features and fix bugs. Of course, EA would never do that because... well... money... but really, unless you are a die-hard F1 fan, then there really is little reason to buy the game every year as they basically just re-release the same game with tweaks and updated rosters/rules/tracks etc. They remove something one year to reintroduce the next as "new this year", much like they do with the FIFA, Madden NFL and NHL franchises. I am currently playing F1 23 5 hour trial (down from the previous 10 hour trial) through the GamePass Ultimate subscription for my PC (and Xbox Series X) and think the game is fine but apart from improved lighting, haven't really noticed much in the way of changes in how the game looks, feels or plays personally. IRL drivers can just full throttle all the way without spinning out (burnouts), but it severely impacts their cornering speeds and stability as well as damaging the surface which can lead to blistering and less grip

So I've owned and played all F1 games from F1 2018 to F1 '23. I bought this based off the handling, breaking point 2, Qatar and red flags. But below is a lengthy dive into my honest views of the game and whether you should get it or not. Always make your own opinions, mine is my own and is just shared to give those wondering or on the fence, some further insight; Breaking Point 2. The story is alright, not shit, not amazing, but all the characters feel real and you can get behind alot of them through the game. The difficulty is broken into ; Story, which a toddler could finish... Normal, which is the difficulty I played, where the A.I arent fast but brake super super early all the time. Hard which is about 50 A.I difficulty. The mode is good, but not great and lacks unique gameplay that they could have used and most of the second season while that's the peak of the story, also feels the most generic. F1 World. F1 World offers alot, it's primary issue is it feels like it holds your hand too much for too long. You spend alot of time being the fastest car by about 50-100 Tech Level and it's too easy for a while. However the mode has some great innovations to the game. It's a complete overhaul to Multiplayer in general and is the home of all forms of it. You aren't forced to run only the F1 World car but you can also get into F1 2023 and F2 2022 cars. Tech Level is a new measure of a "Gear System" in racing games. Different and unique. You can upgrade a bunch of parts and build some, but you can't really demote yourself with weaker parts unless you keep older stuff meaning you can overshoot some events and be too fast when you come back. Time Trial and Grand Prix modes were also moved into F1 World and we actually have the addition of Multiplayer Grand Prix mode. Career, Co-Op and MyTeam. Probably the biggest disappointment of the entire game, is the fact that neither of these 3 modes has had any development over F1 2021 and F1 '22. They aren't stale by any means, as we all know driver moves, semi custom calendars and the likes can really change from season to season, player to player and you will always have a unique experience. But it's a shame that none of the modes have had the love and attention they do deserve. New Features. F1 '23 is home to a slew of new things that you would have missed in F1 '22, F1 2021 and F1 2020. If you're an F1 2020 player, then you have little reason to want to move onto any of the 3 save for the tracks. F1 '23 has two new tracks with Losail International in Qatar, and Las Vegas as the 3rd U.S GP in the game. On top of these, F1 2021 tracks China and Portugal return for the third year running, and Frances, Paul Riccard remains even after 2022 was it's final contracted year. Away from the tracks, F1 2020 will still have the Classic F1 cars for those few who did enjoy and use them. 2021 removed them, and F1 '22 added Supercars which have returned in F1 '23 but no new additions and they aren't heavily promoted. As with the Supercars, the F1 Life features in F1 '22 have returned, yes that's right, you can customise your very own couches in F1 '23. They're in but they're not heavily pushed, they aren't marketed everywhere and pretty much everything from F1 '22s F1 Life is in without having to buy them, spend pitcoin etc. So if you liked that customisation, then lucky you. The handling. Yeah, as many RU-vidrs have noted, the handling is a shitload better, if you have '22, this alone is worth it. Those coming from F1 2020/2021, unless you want to get your hands on the new cars after all this time, handling is about equal to the F1 2020 game in terms of easiness and intuitiveness. The handling in F1 '23 however is much more realistic to life over the older games, except a few moments here and there such as the race launches. Red flags are finally back in F1 but yes, heavily bugged right now, but as this is a leading feature I absolutely expect this to be patched very soon. Damage model. Unfortunately the damage in '22 is the damage in '23 This to be fair and honest, is not the fault of Codemasters or EA and is a limitation of the license with the FOM. 35% Race Distance is here and offers more racing over the 11-16 laps of 25% and the 24-33 laps of the 50% This is about all I can think of. My own personal opinion is if you're happy staying on the more dated F1 2020 or 2021, stay there until more patches come through then pick F1 '23 up later in the year. If youre coming from F1 '22, don't hesitate, just get F1 '23 because the difference in the two is like comparing F1 2017 with F1 2020.

There is a major bug from f1 2021 and 22 on series x/s where if u quick resumed the game everything would reset. I lost many career saves and had to make car setup’s to many times and redo all my settings. If this is still there then this will be three years in a row

I want a demo before I commit, if the handling is vastly improved I'm somewhat tempted but no chance I'm sinking ~£60 into this like with F1 22 for it to be a hot mess.

Currently upgraded my oneX to seriesS, got 3months gamepass free so downloaded this to play and f1 manager, there's now 45 games on my gamepass to play later list plus the well over 100 digital games already purchased lol, happy days ahead MEGA BACKLOG lol I would love a retro season and cars etc, like late 90s early 00s roster and modern rules, be interesting see how the oldies but goodies play out that way

I pre-ordered it, I have enjoyed the game so far. I played F1 22 and got used to the dumb AI. The handling is a huge step up, if you have a little moment getting on the throttle you can actually save it.

The Handling and Breaking Point 2 are why I bought it. While it’s been a learning curve, I have not regretted it one bit.

maxing out on interviews is the same like being not in race in F1 manager. In the race, my GPU was perfectly fine, but when in menus, it went nuts.
