Now's the perfect time to buy those efficiency upgrades you keep putting off. It will slow down your upgrade pace for a while, but will make those major and ultimate upgrades down the road much easier - think of seasons 2 and 3 - this is a career mode, after all.
I think that’s how your development should go (for the Sauber at least) very quickly at the beginning then slow down either half way through or to season 2. That’s why you had 2 major upgrades immediately
Maybe in real F1, yeah, but he's clearly a better driver than any AI, so the difficulty comes in limiting the car. IDK about you but I think its more entertaining to watch him fighting most of the race.
Maldonado, Ericsson and Inoue crashed? - Nah no need for safety car Oh a leaf landed on the track? - Send out the safety car, the ambulance, the crane and a Domino's Pizza delivery motorbike!!
It's going too quickly, it's unrealistic to see them fighting at the front by season 1. Look at Aarava's career for example, him and Magnussen would have got a 1-2 if not for the safety car coming out at the wrong time. Ben won't stop the development, he'll slow it down so he can stretch the career more for more seasons.
Ok don't do upgrades. But do the department efficiency or wind tunnel ones. Just keep on spending the resource points on them. That way you are not developing the car right now but making it future proof. That's realistic and smarter too.
He thinks it's too fast but when a change to the regulations comes and he finds himself without upgrades because he has too many of them to adopt them, he will learn.
To me it just seems like you have gotten lucky with parts not failing and the other teams being perhaps a bit slow on development. I have been watching Matt212 play, and he has gotten quite unlucky and is still fighting at the bottom. And the regulation changes could throw a big spanner in the works, so please dont slow down development
Keep doing all practice programs, but keep it in bank, and do performance upgrades every 2-3 races also, if you think what you’re targeting 2-3 races ahead of time can be achievable by just saving RP in 2 races, then do durability upgrades or spend on the quality control and the cost efficiency part of all three performance branches of the development tree. idk just a though
Just keep the car feeling great, if you are comfortable with it then that is good. You should remember that rule changes happen this season so you may be thrown around in the dev chart. You could always just rush this car up to top of the field and then go back down with a team like williams and raise them up as well. See how even you can make the field over the course of your career mode.
Is it just me or does anyone else love seeing ben win, do you should do all the practice sessions and upgrade the car as quick as possible so your faster
One thing you can do that will help Sauber in the long run is to keep investing in the quality control and efficiency upgrades. You basically blew them off completely in F1 2017 (with a McLaren-Honda no less!), and if you think development is too fast, this is a better alternative to skipping practice programs or just banking them for races on end.
Don't skip the programmes Ben! You could just stick the R&D points into department efficiency and quality control in order to future proof the car in further seasons. That way you can "slow down" the direct performance enhancing upgrade pace but still put the points to good use!
Cheese and funky rice, Ben, it wasn't SIROTKIN that was holding you up on lap 9, it was STROLL! I mean, the name is right above the car!! Gonna start calling you Aarava from now on lmao. Still, love this series! Keep at it, Aar...I mean, Ben 😂🏎💨
I'm playing a Sauber in my career and I've piled on the aero upgrades and it's so damn stable at speed. A fantastically confidence inspiring car to drive
Quick in sector 1 because corner cutting gives no penalty. Dont stop practice, there is a point when you have to "rebuy" the Upgrades when the Regulationchanges will come. To slow down you can get some of the durability. It will help you too but you dont see progress to quickly
Very happy to hear you're using the new McLaren wheel, I hope you enjoy it. I was fortunate enough to have snuck in a preorder back in November, been loving it the last few months. Thanks for the enjoyable content as well. Much better start this race, too. And don't forget; "P" button :)
Safety car definitely doesn’t come out enough on this game - seems to amaze me when you can have massive crashes and it’s only a yellow but the smallest thing can bring one out. Also not sure if I’d stop the development but work on efficiency and wear.
The fanatec pedals run off load cells instead of petentiometers, so it measures pressure instead of distance like the thrust master kit, hence why it'd feel different, but they need fine-tuning and calibrating each startup for me. Good kit and good vids tho 👍
Ben keep your practice sessions going and keep those upgrades right up as you will soon have to pay for a lot of them again when a "regulation change" comes into effect. That stalls your R&D and slows down your upgrades significantly..
Remember that the new regulation change rules can either cost you points to try and hang on to your upgrades, or just make you lose progress. So you may need more points than it seems to keep progressing over multiple seasons.
Would you be open to the idea of doing a review of the wheel? Would be interesting to hear some more in-depth thoughts from you as well as some pros and cons compared to what you've been using until now
So you finally got to Fanatec? Very high quality, a little bit expensive, but therefore, everlasting. You cannot find better gear in this cost-category.
I think your upgrade speed is just so quick because there will be rule changes for next season throwing you back down the order, so you may want to see how that turns out after the first season before slowing down your upgrades on purpose.
Remember, due to regulations some of your upgrades might not be usable in the next season - codemasters kinda traded upgrading speed with upgrade path strategy.
I've thought the same about F1 2018 regarding how easy it is to upgrade the car; compared to F1 2017 this year they seem to be chucking resource points at you like there's no tomorrow...I've gotten McLaren to just behind Red Bull in barely over half a season
Since you won't be qualifying P1, why not qualify on harder compound tires? That way you get the over cut and have a better chance of a podium... I could be wrong, but it makes sense to me.
Keep up with the practice programs please, it is much more enjoyable the way how R&D shaping the grid.. So nice effort for all those episodes and thank you..
I did the Canadian GP and when Gasly went out for something, the SC came in and messed with my 6s lead. In Belgium, somebody spun after the straight after eau rouge and about 3 cars got terminal damage, and not even VSC. It's kinda random
Keep up the upgrade pace because once youre best of the rest you have a gap to catch the top 3 teams. If your worried about being too fast too soon do efficienty upgrades now. Plus rules changes could shake it all up anyway
Great series! How do you like the CSL Elite vs the TS-PC? They seem pretty even from what I've seen. I can see wanting to upgrade to the CSL LC pedals though (which I assume you did). That Mclaren rim looks pretty sweet too, and cheaper than the formula rim which is nice.
Hey ben, seen the new equipment on Twitter. Did they include the load cell for the brake pedal? Didnt see it in the pictures. Glad you're liking the fanatec gear and looking forward to your review
Just got this game and it seems the cars are all automatic transmissions. What the heck happened to manual cars and is there an option to change to an all manual trans.? Getting tired of shifting only to find out that instead of the gear I selected it was either one lower or one gear higher. The positive side of this was some fairly interesting rides through the infields.
I had a safety car at China in the rain and the safety car was way to fast down the straights then when we would approach a turn, all the cars just slammed on their brakes then after the corner, the safety car would go way to fast. So for a couple laps, I had to make sure I kept up in the straights but come to almost a complete stop at every turn.
Hey Ben are you using the load cell brake add-on or the regular brake? Even the regular brake is far beyond Thrustmasters T3PA pedals, but the load cell is on another level still. If you don't have it, you should definitely consider getting it!
