The problem with controller in CM F1 games is that there are built-in controller filters & dampers that cannot be disabled, and those things cause input lag and make it very difficult to perform quick small corrections. Ideally they should include the option to disable all controller filters & dampers, enable raw input, and fine tune from there. In older F1 games such as F1 2012/2013 you could do that by enabling an option called "steering wheel override", that made the controls much more responsive and easier to drive.
I used to own a Fanatec CSL Elite and after doing some practice I wanted to do a quick lap on my pad after quickly connecting it felt weird like I was turning super responsively I’m guessing the game figured I was still using the wheel so my controller dampers were disabled
You must be the only person, it seems, on the internet that has even acknowledged this absurd problem. The last 3 titles have seen this get significantly worse - we're way past the point of giving some assistance to people who can't balance their fat, greasy thumbs on a stick. It blows my mind that it doesn't bother anyone else enough to even start a discussion, let alone make some noise towards the developers.
You've nailed it. I Downloaded F1 22 after taking a break from the franchise since 2013... I've noticed that there are filters that can't be changed in comparison to say Assetto corsa. The speed sensitivity is terrible. Like my driver won't turn into a corner unless I'm literally at the correct speed. Very bad implementation by codies that! Feels super sluggish.
You are the first person that I see talking about this on internet, now I don´t feel alone, haahahha. That filter thing for this year game is what killed the game for me, can´t make fast left to right turns with the controller unles I anticipate way to early the move, it´s very frustrating.
I do agree. Games like Assetto Corsa have a quite comprehensive steering set-up where you can get a pretty good balance and preform manoeuvres such as small corrections at low speed and also have decent stability at high speed! This just proves that F1 is not reaaally a sim IMO.
Yeah in 20 and 21 i always kept tc in medium just to have a bit of sliding but still dont need to grind, in this game, i need to do a lot of throttle controlling even with medium tcs
Same issue, and I used to play 105 AI on past F1 games. Struggling at 95 now, cannot even keep the same gear I used to on most turns because it spins out like hell
finally codemasters added wheel rotation degree function for PC that means we don't need to set up steering saturation for gamepads anymore just change from 360 to 270 and done!
Honestly, there is big difference for racing games between Dualsense controller that you used for thumbnail of video and Xbox controller that you apparently used ingame. And that difference is gyro or motion controls. With Xbox controller you are simply stuck with thumbstick steering that can only be enhanced by making thumbstick longer/taller. Which isn’t really that effective. With PS4/PS5 controllers however, you can use tools such as Steam Input to map gyro to left thumbstick and use it for steering, which makes a big difference in precision while steering. Essentialy making small steering wheel out of a controller. Thats something that shouldn’t be overlooked in sim racing community imo, because it is easy to setup and relatively cheap way to get better driving experience without having to commit to buying a wheel. sure, you are still missing on that force feedback, but still miles better than that damn thumbstick.
In Gran Turismo Sport, we have Motion Sensor Function, basically you hold the controller like a steering wheel and use it as so, I wish they could put it in F1 and other racing games
you can use the gyroscope of the controller for the steering inputs, that will leave the lift stick for other inputs and give you the similar feeling to the steering wheel
Yeah that feature is present in the game but in my opinion ERS management is a crucial part of race strategy so I certainly wouldn't leave that to chance
Noticed right away the feel on the corners the minute I implemented the changes you suggested. A lot more precise and I got to get used to these as I was forcing myself to get used to the default settings as I like the feedback I’m getting. (Currently in Saudi in Career Mode) Thanks for the info.
The problem is the steering is not linear at all, the center of the stick feels sticky, like it wants to keep you straight, and then theres a “break” where all of the sudden the car starts turning more. Is it realistic ? Maybe, i dont know, never had my ass in an F1 car. But i just feel like the game would feel better if the stick was directly linear with how much steering you apply.
I’m playing f1 23 for the first time, took me 3 races before the game let me change my camera, and the turning radius on controller is so bad it’s like turning the titanic around a hairpin
I have a controller that does not have pressure sensitive buttons. So while pressing accelerate, the meter just goes to full and my cars spins around and I cannot play without TC and ABS. Anyone got an idea how to play without them?
After playing F1 2011-12,13,17,18, to F122 pretty much consider myself alright at it, however, F1 22 steering just don't feel like the others,my mate bought it & I couldn't wait for a try, however I don't know if he's played with settings but the over stee! the, over sensitive to usual Left analogue stick push slightly L & R steering just literally would sawing the wheel to get around an easy corner because of Over sensitivity,so I'll try this tomorrow, out of all the racing Sims I've played this just don't feel right,in fact my words were "This car isn't right WTF" I didn't do anything to setup because he was in race,I could just about bring it home 8th,interlagos where Im usually 2-4 second's a lap quicker in easy mode(track dependant),it cost me 2 second's More with that steering issue,I hope this sorts it, maybe he did something, I Only disabled braking assists etc as they were on, I've never used them 🤷🏻♀️, anyone have this issue let me know 👍
How can i adjust the steering in a joystick to go back to the center slower. I need this cz in long turn i keep adjusting the car which result in loosing time and going off the race line and it is also exausted. Thanks
Having issues with key binding the increase and decrease of fuel mix - by default it is grayed out in game, because it is unassigned. Did not have this problem in past F1 series.
Just got this game and I'm trying to get to use the controller to play with a friend online (I usually use a steering wheel). I've been practicing and notice that the driver doesn't move his hands as fast as I move the stick when taking a couple of fast corners. I know this is set like that to make the turning more smoothly but is there any way to change it? I've been moving steering linearity but can't get to a point that feels comfortable.
im looking for this solution rn coz i just got the game. i never used a steering wheel but im used to playing Assetto Corsa with the turning follows my joystick. if u happen to see this reply, hv u found the solution by any chance?
You just need to set up a new profile for the elite controllers button mapping that has the paddles act as the gear up and gear down button. Have one paddle as X and the other as A for up and down or change it to whatever you have set up in the F1 game. If that makes sense?
Do you have anything that can help me avoiding spinning when i come off cerbs or accelerate very slowly? i just can do a race in career mode without spinning 600 times and using a flashback or 10 in a single lap and im just lost at how to fix this
Can anyone who has the game on the *PlayStation 5* , confirm as to whether you can give/do voice commands with your team, via the headset/mic? This is a bit of a deal breaker for me, as I use them all the time on the previous games and I haven't bought F1 22 yet. So I just wanna find out, in advance. Thanks!
I can't seem to activate the DRS setting or the Overtake setting. I've tried updating in the settings, I set it, but in the race it doesn't work. Is there a previous setting i'm doing that is over riding this?
You had a dualsense on your thumbnail which is what brought me to your video. So was a bit disappointed when it was not. If you do have a dualsense You will notice very quickly that you don't have to change steering liniarity as the dualssense sticks is far superior to the Xbox sticks. That goes for the triggers aswell. Right stick trick is cool but only works well if you drive in 3rd person view. And to be honest sim racing should be done from the cockpit else you are not emerging yourself completely.
Maybe you having set ERS to auto? Look under the Driver Assists (not sure how it's called in English), at the bottom next to DRS. If you have that set to "auto" you can't control it by yourself. Hope that helps. EDIT: The setting is not set to "auto" but to "on" (the ERS-Help) - set it to "off", that should do the trick.
@@WinnerDee At the place where you can change all Driver Assists (Traction Control, ABS, Steering Assist etc.) - at the end you have DRS Help and ERS Help (and "help" here means, when turned on, fully automatic. DRS Helo for example just opens the wing for you as soon as you enter a DRS Zone, ERS Help just manages the battery for you). TL;DR: Find the place in the menu where you can change the Driving Assists and you will find the ERS Help thingy, I don't have the game in front of me so I can't give you a step-by-step guide, sorry. Good luck though!
Okay. So I was hella good in F1 2021… Bo assist what so ever. I stopped playing it around three months before this game dropped. Now I started playing f1 2022 immediately turned all assists off and I can’t drive for sh*t… Honestly why is it so freaking hard… From racing 110 AI to barely keeping it together…. I mean what’s going on
Same with me. Well, I only raced against 100 AI in 21 game but in 22 I can barely keep up with 94 AI. It feels like they are still racing with the previous year's cars. They have more grip, faster acceleration and way more top speed.
Anyone who can tell me how to find the limit of grip? I feel nothing in my controller which makes it hard to accelerate as quick as possible… Plz answer❤️
Here in the beginning I have short shifted or used a gear or 2 to much out of corners, to limit loss of traction. So in hairpins, I am in 3rd or even 4th gear, depending on my setup
@@limposwe I'm getting annoyed with traction because i lose so much time to the cars behind me and the cars in front of me absolutely blitz me and i don't know how to fix it
When I implement the changes to the Throttle and braking, my throttle then never makes it to 100 all the way. Dumb question but does that impact my ability to full throttle accelerate?
