For any pad users out there, I reassign my controller so that L1 and R1 are the down and upshifts (not x and o), feels far more natural and intuitive with the accelerator and brake on the triggers below
Aside from speed I’d say the biggest benefit is control and not having to think so much about what speed you are doing. For example, if you’re heading down a fast straight and you know the next corner is a 5th gear corner, if you brake and click down 3 times then you’ll pretty much automatically be at the right speed for the corner without trying to focus on your speedo and hit a specific number. It can also work for you in long corners where you know if you hold a gear then your speed is approximately correct whereas with auto gears you need to concentrate more to hold the correct speed
@@paolodevega899 sure! Go into settings, then to assists and scroll down to the “gearbox” setting (should be about the third or fourth setting from the bottom), you have 3 options, manual, Manual with suggested gear and automatic, you want the “manual with suggested gear” option. It’s not always ideal tho, for example, the final corner in Bahrein is better taken in fourth gear, but the game suggests third. It is however a good starting point to practice manual gears. Hope you can find it!
Can you do a how to do race starts? I just cant for the life of me get off the line without wheel spinning like crazy, or just spinning out and being really slow. Seems harder in this game versus 21.
Put your throttle at the Front of the H in KPH before you start and only go up to the back of the H for next few gears. So throttle at 15% then go up to 20%
@@cartertran270 thanks bro. That helped a-lot, and also his new video on race starts helped a-lot. Now im not getting passed or spinning unless i just blatantly screw up.
ditch the auto and the anti-lock brakes to start with. at first, you'll be slower by a couple seconds a lap, but once you get used to shifting and learn WHEN to shift it gets to be 2nd nature. if you've driven a manual shift car in real life for any length of time, you know what i mean. manual braking requires learning how MUCH to brake and when. this is also affected by downshifting, you can brake a little less when downshifting into a corner, retaining a higher overall speed. exiting corners in the right gear also helps. it takes time, i'm still 3 seconds a lap off the top in time trials, lolol
I use Automatic gears but i down shift manualy when i enter a turn and up shift for better traction and etc. I do want to learn fully manual, but i just think it's diffuclut to do on an controller
Since I've been using manual gears, I've started getting repetitive strain injury from flicking the levers , pains in the hands and arms. Goodness knows how the f1 drivers avoid it.
@@richarddemers2344 Thanks I shall take that in mind , I have all the F1 games but I like to play the old games now and again like F1 2016 I have it on the ps4 and the ps5 but I can't use the end break peddle on the logitech as the break , the game won't let me I have to use the clutch pedal as the break pedal , which means the foot angle is a bit uncomfortable, there does not seem a way you can set the left pedal as the break.
Can you please do a video on how to drive with no abs because I’ve tried and I have to put the ai down a lot to try beat them. Plus I lock up in every corner and my tire wear is so high compared with abs
Can anyone help me please !! I dont understand how to know to what gear you need to go. Like what if i am in 7 gear and i take a corner, how do i know to what gear i need to go?? I know there is a setting and it shows wich gear you need to go on but i want to know how you know to what gear you need to go and can see to what gear you need to go! Thankss!! 😊
thanks mate!! weird question, do you know any tricks to using the paddles on a wheel as gas and brake? i can't use my legs so use the paddles on the wheel.
Same. Cars handle very differently. Had to tinker a lot of the wheel and pedals settings to find some pace on top of all changes in aero, chassis tire pressure…
@@yannickmensen5654 very frustrating this year indeed. Cars are very hard to drive. ERS doesn’t hold well and durability after 2 races “even with the perk” is a disaster.
Hi I had a problem with automatic gear shifting because it doesnt gear up to 8th gear do you know any way to fix it. And its gear shifting later than before. Please help me thx so much.
@@danielkopp1331 either switch to manual gears or use auto gears and just shift up when you need to. That's what I did untill I started learning manual gears
@@richwatson1985 For me I just turned on all the assist, even braking assist so my brain could just focus on the shifting. Try that and then come back to me. :) It was the same with me when I started to learn driving without the racing line, it was a mess. I got so freaking tired of the sh** that I just gave up. But then one day I told myself, I won't quit this time and chose Red Bull ring and then I got it, now I can drive almost 50% of the tracks with no racing line and have decent lap times. It's just patience, that's all.
@@theindubitable yeah that’s a good idea mate. In time I’m pretty sure I’d get the hang of it. But I’m not to bothered about it anyway. End of the day it’s a video game. I’m enjoying it a lot with auto. Il stick with that :) thanks for the tips though.
@@richwatson1985 Yes, end of the day it's only a video game, but I promise you, when you can do you own up and downshifts the game will add another dimension and you will enjoy it more ;) thanks again and good luck bro
