Good engineering is as much about not over-engineering things, as it is engineering things. Remember the Kimi "is it on though? Is it on?!" saga... very amusing for the fans watching but an engineering fail that simply can't happen with the system in this video 🙂

You should get with camelback hydration. They have a bite valve. Unless you bite down on it you can't get water. Might help.

Is there a consumer version of this? My mouth gets dry when I'm on the track and I'd really like to implement this myself. I suppose I could jerry rig this with a waterbottle and a piece of surgical tubing but I'm wondering if there'a a product out there.

I wanna know if the pipe is always in the drivers mouth or do they press a button for it to move forwards or backwards? Because then how are they talking in the radio? Suck to get water in is pretty straightforward.. But Wondering how the pipe gets to the drivers mouth when he needs to drink (never seen them physically move it)

Probably get it in your mouth with your tung. Thats how I do it when wearing a gas mask. But I Imagine they can use their hand aswell because the helmet is open at the bottom.

there appears to be no regulation pertaining to the fluid inside the bag, as long as said fluid dosent exceed 1500ml in capacity

Some have run tea while others run water or an electrolyte mix similar to Gatorade. Other than that, they can run pretty much whatever they want.

My only curiosity from this technique is, does the tube sit to the side of the drivers mouth then having to reach for it with lip muscles, or does the tube sit inside the drivers mouth (which sounds a bit uncomfortable)?

I have used similar before. Grab pipe with hand, hold in mouth with teeth. Few sips and push it away. Can't keep it in your mouth as will also be impossible to talk on the radio
