Question for you both: is Formula One driving today too complicated with twenty and more buttons on the wheel, are you too much under effort, under pressure? What are your wishes for the future concerning the technical programme during the race? Less buttons, more? Or less and more communication with your engineers?

@Galacticdragon unlike other teams, George's (William's) steering wheel has no screen, like the ones on Vettel's championship winning cars (2010-2013 Red Bulls).
@Galacticdragon I think its cos there was an onboard where the car was telling George to cool the breaks or engine and the dash just said 'COOL' , probably that
I love that they are now allowed to show the complete steering wheel. I remember a couple of years ago they were talking about what the buttons do yet they couldn't show the back part.
oh now that would be the icing on the cake, if Alonso replaced Palmer after he retires (again). sadly that would mean having to put up with Palmer for a couple more years :(
If someone told me back in 2017 that in 2021 Jolyon Palmer is explaining the steering wheel from the Team he drove in 2017, which is now not a Renault anymore and now is the steering wheel of Fernando Alonso, I probably had called him crazy.
I'm of course really impressed by the level of detail in this explanation, but also with the amount of supporting imagery that's given. For every button there was an example on-board of a driver using said button. Nicely done!!
I didn’t think much of Jolyon back when he was with Renault in 2016 & 2017, but I really enjoy the way he explains and analyses content for the fans. Cheers.
I bought it 2 weeks ago it‘s pretty nifty, although not comparable to Direct Drive wheels, but for beginners its nice also you dont have to spend 2 grand on it
How far steering wheel technology has come. I wonder if Ayrton Senna was racing nowadays and having to learn all that equipment. He said he didn't even like the flappy paddles when they were introduced.
He'd probably detest every single bit of it at first, but I reckon the ability to tune the car per lap, per situation, per second would be something he'd easily maximise to an incredible degree for his benefit. He'd been highly involved in the setup process in the garage -- giving him that power IN THE COCKPIT will be the next level.
huge among of respect not only for F1 driver, but also for the team that prepare all the small thing for their team to success. they are best of the best in the world.
I can't even fiddle around with all those buttons in any of the F1 games without crashing. It's amazing to me the drivers are able to do it while driving all out, while wearing a helmet, and having sun glare in their face IRL.
i was leading a full lenght race in f1 video game and on the very lasts laps, team asked me to save fuel. i think i've lost 10 seconds updating my fuel setting and the race win. so much respect for the drivers.
F1 is such a fascinating arms race, and this is such a cool part of it because it's the primary interface (other than the pedals) that the driver has with all that tech. Great video. Hopefully it helps me keep up with at least a bit of what the drivers are doing.
The coordination and concentration needed during an entire race is nothing short of impressive - aside from just having the stones to drive the car as fast as they need to.
Something I noticed on many Formula 1 rims is that there is a rotary dial for adjusting "BBal" or "BRKBAL" while there are also button that say "BBal+" and "BBal-" or "BB+" and "BB-"

i mean after some time itll be basic for them, what amazes me is like doing all of these things while they are in bagarre at the start and\or theyre trying to overtake each other. I mean im looking to overtake you but simultaneously ive to adjust my brake balance or else i will not get the best braking possible.
I wanted to say that moving from a team to another will take some time to get used to the new steering wheel because of muscle memory but he mentioned at the end about Danny Ric
