most of them weren´t actually engine failures... The big part were just Gearbox issues.. Or even just electrical problems.. another good example that most people don´t know what they're talking about. Nice video anyway
Mostly yeah. The one which stands out for me is Verstappen's engine failure in China 2015. Still listed as gearbox or transmission despite Renault admitting it was the engine at fault.
One of the most evil sounding engine failures I've heard. Definitely not just a broken con rod or piston. That sounded like a big end or the crankshaft itself letting go.
2:14 Vettel at Austria 2014 was caused by McLaren! They create the standard ECUs and this had a weird malfunction that reset when he stopped (or if he had hit full brake). I guess ECU is engine related, though
Callum House The standard ECU has been in use by F1 since 2008. It was indeed designed by McLaren, but that is not going to be related to Vettel's gearbox problem that year. It was a freak moment when the car was stuck in neutral for about a minute and then got drive back again, similar to one of the circumstances that cost Hamilton the title in Brazil 2007.
Look I think Hamilton is a giant douche, a very fast and talented douche, but a douche non the less. And I quite Liked Nico, but Hamilton definitely had more failure and more impactfull failure.
If Nico didn't have his issues in 2014, he would have been champion by a margin. Most of his issues were during the race whereas Hamilton was mainly during qualifying which is way better than getting a terminal issue during the race.
