Description Episode 1: How to tech video on installing a Bell Tech 3.5" front and 4" rear lowering kit on a 2013 Ford F-150 2wd regular cab short bed. Thanks for watching and Please leave your positive comments below.
Great video very clear and shows many complications and how to deal with them. I really want to do this on my 2016 f150 fx4 4wd. I think at 72 years old and no access to a host I might have to have someone else do it for me. I wish I was close enough to you. Great job.
Haven't finished the whole video but I do know the process and I will say this is by far the most detailed and best shown As well as stressing safety I've seen on the process I'll be subbing and notifications on now
Thanks for the comments!!! I'd have a look on the Bell Tech web page, it's pretty user friendly! www.belltech.comSorry I haven't been uploading any videos...computer issues, I'll be back on it hopefully soon!!!
Nice work. I love to watch videos where the proper tools are used (torque wrenches, etc). As soon as I see adjustables and vice grips, I'm out. I suggest using never seize on all of the bushing hardware. The sleeves are notorious for rusting to the bolts.
Hey man great video ..just one question I lowered my 2010 f150 and I think I put the rear axle brackets backwards...I talking about the brackets the rear axle sits on..can you tell me what is the right way??? It has a longer side than the other..thanks
12:46 that tool is aka The Dentist. Listen if you paid 900 to drop your truck spend an extra 200 for upper bearing plates that way if you don't like your drop you can go back to factory
Hi, really like your video, showed me what I want to know exactly, but my question is, how is with hulling and towing, would the rear bottom down? I have a 2009 flare side STX 2WD, what are your recommendations to lower it ?
The rear could actually go down another couple inches and still not bottom out with a shorter bump stop. Trevor, the owner runs a machine shop and uses this truck to haul his materials, and its been working just fine. As far as dropping your 2009 I'm not a ford guy, I'd check on the Bell Tech web page to see what some options would be, their web site is very user friendly! www.belltech.comThanks for your comment!!!
Hello, I had a belltech flip kit installed on my 08 f150, and the drive shaft is tight. The mechanic suggest that I get an inch cut out of the drive shaft. Is this a common problem thanks
Candyshop customs, what would you think a shop would charge to do this install, and how much total time would you say it took you from start to finish, great vid and thanks for the info
Lol...well I wouldn't be the one bustin my hump to do it in 4 or 5 hours!!! Hope they'd do it right!!! If you wanted a more accurate number you could just look up and add all the separate labor times to do all the procedures...
You really only have to do this if you notice drive line vibration after lowering your truck, which would indicate incorrect pinon angle. Some trucks need this step others do not.
Sounds like your one of the few that wont have to cut your carrier bearing mount out. I would however, still have the pinion angle looked at just to ensure the pinion is happy in there. Sometimes even if you can feel vibration, if the angle is severe enough, you can have accelerated pinion wear. Just a thought.
The answer to your question lies in checking what the driveline angles are after lowering. general happy driveline angles are in the 3deg. range. I never checked the angles on Trevor's truck, no vibration but it took out the pinion seal, so he'll need to adjust his angles.
The belltech struts, like used in this video allow for 1” lift to 3” drop, depending on what spacers you use. And you use the factory spring so ride quality stays the same.
You would take out 1” worth of rings. 3”from the springs and 1” off the strut equals 4” of front drop. The Struts are good for 1” lift to 3” of drop, depending on how you stack/remove the rings.
I was wondering if anyone would know what kit is best for a f150 it is a 4x4 and I know people usually don’t drop these trucks but I want a 2/4 drop at least so not too low but any help ?
And look there we are subbed to mainly the same stuff fins garage scrapinpavement Check out my stuff just traded the Chevy for my own 2017 f150 2wd to match the wife's lol
Can use the lowering springs and compensate with with struts? Ex: Springs is 2" and lower 1.5" for strut for 3.5"? I tried this and the spring is hanging and doesn't touch bottom perch. So that mean I need the stock spring and the lowering springs are pointless and it's either one or the other?
A backyard mechanic could of done that faster without the lift. Alot of things he did made it harder. Work smarter not harder. You and your not tightening the bolts until weight you're wrong. Where you get your certification?
