At first glance they look like black housings headlights... but I see the flake in it at the end, good job buddy thanks for showing the process I plan to color match my stock headlights after I put my Spyder LED DRL headlights in
Good video. A couple tips though. Use Off oven cleaner to strip the chrome off the bezels. It’ll give you a longer lasting finish. Those headlights were sealed with butyl. You don’t have to remove it. You can just add more to it. Morimoto Retrorubber is a butyl made just for headlights. It’ll give you a better seal and make them easier to take apart in the future if you want to add anything else to the lights.
Thanks man I’ll definitely keep that in mind, my butyl stripping didn’t come in in time was just trying to have these done quickly temporarily. I’d like to build another set with projectors... and I just removed the butyl so it would seat better with the silicone... washed for the first time today and it’s rained here for 2 days headlights haven’t leaked yet.. but only time will tell. Appreciate the feedback!
I just bought my second set of these Amazon headlights and I keep having problems with the beam patterns. When I activate the high beam you can't even see them except it looks like it is shining down on the ground kinda
Pipes and boots are all holding up great, actually decided to redo the powdercoat color using a different clear coat at my powdercoat guy.. so stay tuned for the newish color! slightly darker bronzier color... stay tuned!
Good job! Looks great! How many hours did you spend doing this? I wonder if weight during cure is needed. In theory lens should not go tighter than what the actual clips clamping pressure is designed to hold when manufactured. As long as you have enough silicone that is. Great vids. You do a great job of making it simple to follow with out too much commentary. Keep it up!
If you don’t already know, instead of sanding the chrome spray them with $1 can of oven cleaner and let sit 5 minutes. 99% of chrome will be dissolved.
