F2L made EXTREMELY EASY (read description)
2:38: One Step to Pairing
3:18: Three Obstacles to Pairing
6:20: Three Mistakes in Pairing
4:39: Worst-Case Scenario
Cube: GAN Air
Setup: AT4040, MOTU 828k, Logic Pro X, Final Cut Pro, iPhone SE
•This video is NOT for:
-People who already know F2L and just want to brag
-People who still have trouble solving the Rubik's Cube
-Trolls and other people not seeking to learn
•This video IS for:
-People who are able to watch the whole video
-People who can already solve the Rubik's Cube using some sort of layer-by-layer method, entirely by memory, preferably in less than 2 minutes
(1) This tutorial is NOT about beginner's method. The video STARTS by explaining why beginner's method is redundant, after which I immediately explain F2L. Beginner's method is layer-by-layer (LBL). F2L is pairing edges with corners. The lateral algorithm is an algorithm used in LBL and F2L.
(2) This tutorial is SUPPOSED to be extremely basic and easy. You will get slower while you are learning F2L, but with enough practice you'll get faster than you'd ever get with LBL.
(3) This tutorial is THE FIRST IN A THREE-PART series on F2L. If you think this is too easy, then go ahead and watch my next two videos on F2L (links below).
(4) A big part of F2L is intuition and finding your own ways to get faster. If you find shortcuts, write them down and use them! I guarantee that watching my Essentials video (link below) will be a huge help if you are just starting out.
(5) Eventually, learning algorithms will be the best way to go for F2L. Once you feel you've reached that point, watch my Advanced F2L video (link below) to learn the easiest solutions to all of those cases that you've been scratching your head about!
(6) Keep on cubing!
•Three Essentials of F2L (must know!):
• ESSENTIALS of F2L (mus...
•Advanced F2L (all the hard cases!):
• Advanced F2L
Want easy access to all the BEST algorithms for solving?
I’ve got a list that I’ve been building for years that contains all the algorithms for:
-3x3x3 last layer (2-look and 4-look)
-Every F2L case
-3x3x2 last layer
-Megaminx last layer
-X-Cube
-Mixup Cube
-Blind-solving
-Parity/conversion for large cubes

This video is great.!Took me a few watches but it totally makes sense! Now just a matter of practicing. I've made some timestamps for myself and hopefully this will help others. Intro 2:38 - One Step to Pairing Three Obstacles to Pairing 3:20 - Either corner or edge not on top 3:43 - Corner white on top 4:04 - Edge flipped wrong Demo 4:39 - Demo with Three Obstacles ("Worst-Case Scenarios") Three Mistakes in Pairing 6:24 - Edge on wrong side of corner 6:55 - Edge pushed into middle layer 7:22 - Un-solving pairs accidentally (slots explained)

I like how simple this tutorial is. I personally am also a fan of "being able to do it" more than "doing it the best way", as a guideline for teaching, like you have presented it here. But I think you need a balance, because the simpler a concept becomes, the farther it strays from being the best way to do it in practice. At first I liked the simplicity of your method, but I think the lack of different techniques actually make this method slower than layer by layer, and requires a decent amount of relearning later on (such as ignoring RUR' inserts, and ignoring white-on-top for the corner). For ease of learning I think you did a really great job, but I don't really agree with the details of the method being taught.
@ChrisBandyJazz
@ChrisBandyJazz 6 лет назад
J Perm Thanks. I set the balance so that people could at least use F2L to complete a solve. This video is already 8 minutes long, so I didn’t want to start adding on more advanced stuff. If you watch my next video “Essentials,” then you can get some of the more intermediate techniques! A lot of people ignore that video, which is unfortunate for them.

Advice for beginners: Guys like 3 months ago I watched this but I understood nothing and my average was like 50 seconds or so at that time but after I started learning CFOP I learnt the algorithms but I didn't really know what they were doing. So how I learnt each F2L case is that I did the algorithm and followed where the pieces go and how they pair. Learning just the algorithm does help you but not that much. If you know what each algorithm does and how they pair it will be better (By the way I got so much faster in 2-3 months with cfop. Now I average around 17-22. My PB is 14) I strongly recommend you to learn cfop. Especially master the F2L step. Good Luck !

@ChrisBandyJazz

Messing around with an exposed slot is fine. Just never expose a solved slot. Only expose unsolved slots. Before you do any sort of exposing move (FF'BB'RR'LL'), turn U so that the unsolved slot is going to be the one that will be exposed.

I already know f2l and i feel like this video doesn't explain at all why and how f2l works, it also skips some of the other ways to insert pairs (like when the corner and the edge both have different colours on top that aren't white)

"i feel like this video doesn't explain at all why and how f2l works" This video isn't about "why and how f2l works". It's about how to do it. "it also skips some of the other ways to insert pairs" In this video, I give you all of the tools necessary to solve every F2L case. Give me any case and I will give you the part(s) in this video where it explains how to solve it. This isn't an algorithm video. If you want algorithms, check out my "Advanced F2L" video. "(like when the corner and the edge both have different colours on top that aren't white)" I do show how to do this. That is Obstacle #3 (go to 4:02). The lateral edges don't have white stickers. Let me know if you have any more questions!

I wish I woulda seen that before learning that on my own... It would take me a lot less time to solve the cube... nice vid, hope beginners will find it easily

Great Video. It really explained what the moves do instead of doing a bunch of memorization. Keep up the great work and I'll be sub 365 in no time.

Juan Garcia well I just figured it out! It doesnt matter of it is the last piece , because the edge piece in front of you will not move

I suggest watching J Perms f2l tutorial.It is only 8 minutes long and it is pretty useful.Also don’t get scared if you are slower with f2l rather than corners and then edges at first.With practice,your times will become much better :)

This video explains f2l very well, but I am kind of confused, if the paired edge and corner is... well paired, but it is on the left side, what should I do? Please help.
@ChrisBandyJazz
@ChrisBandyJazz 4 года назад
Insert it! Hold the cube so that the correct slot is on the bottom right, and the pair is on the top left (i.e. the edge is on the top of the front face and the corner is on the top-left of the front face). Then just open the slot (R), move the pair in (U'), and close the slot (R').
