The manual is good…but while it tells you what certain switches do, it doesn’t do much to explain WHY you would want to do a thing and how to execute it. What I need is a “Chuck’s Guide” and I can’t guess why these developers don’t pay him to put their manuals together. I feel like there are a lot of things I don’t even know that I don’t know about the Phantom
It really is. I know there are a lot of pages but there isn’t a lot ON each page. One page for a picture of a switch and a description. I get though, that this was done to allow for the in-game manual “pop up” - which is VERY helpful. I just wish the manual would explain how certain features should be used and why you would want to use them (instead of just the switch to activate it).
that button is for uncaging sidewinder seekers just before firing. the Cage button is what enters cage mode, a 5 mile range radar setting which allows the WSO to lock something in your pipper, or the pilot to enter auto acquisition mode by then pressing the nose gear steering button to attempt an auto lock. Here I'm just entering cage mode, putting the pipper over a visual target, and firing a sparrow with no lock. The missile interlock switch must be in the "out" position, and the aspect knob in the back seat must be in the proper position - watch other flood mode tutorials about this
I’m calling it “boresight” but technically the WSO hasn’t selected the actual boresight switch position from his seat. Kinda an override from the pilot seat but this should be called “cage mode” as I understand
