It’s not that ridiculous actually. He’s achieved everything at Club level. One of the few things that he can do to cement himself as the best manager in the history of football is to win international trophies. The teams he would likely take over are Spain, Argentina, Brazil and England. England have one of the best squads and have many players he has already worked with. His affinity to Spain might not be that strong based on his Catalan background. Argentina aren’t all that great now that Messi won’t play another World Cup. I have no clue how good Pep’s Portuguese is, plus he might not fancy all the trips to South America and would rather stay in Europe.

One very important factor you have to consider here is that footballers who represent club and country, spend much more time training and playing with their club teammates (and in their club manager's system) in comparison to how often they play and train with their compatriots. We're comparing close to 50 weeks vs. 10-15 weeks. A system as complex as Pep's, where only specific types of players can adapt well to, will not only require a consistent period of time to accustom to possession football, but also be able to throw their ego away and play unselfish. A manager like Pep is not only incredible on the pitch but equally off the pitch. That is why he is able to get his (club) players to respect him and follow his style to a tee. This is why I can't see Pep ever coaching any international team in fact, but if it were to happen, it would be Spain (who's philosophy and playing style is the closest to Pep's) Thanks for reading ⚽️
