Thanks so much! When I first tried these, I was NOT impressed, but today I realized just how highly pigmented and vibrant they are compared to others

This was a great review and demonstration - so comprehensive and easy to understand. I really appreciate your time creating it, thank you. I learned a great deal - it really helped me understand how to use the pigments and the different effects created. Best wishes from the UK - Ren

Thank you Elizabeth ^.^ They are really fun. They won't replace my watercolors but they remind me of the Kuretake Zig clean watercolor markers and I always loved those. But as these are lightfast, they jump in front of all those other watercolor markers as I find it a shame when colors fade.

Thanks for this review. Nice video. I believe the recomendation to use celulose papers is related to the durability of the marker tip. Maybe cotton papers are a little more abrasive? I was between Molotow Sketchers and Faber Castell, but I truly appreciate that Faber's markers are lightfast (and they saying it outright). Also, it seems reasonable to assume that Faber's markers hold a lot more ink. The Molotow markers seem to be more convenient, but Faber's ones seem to hold more value on the long run (lightfastness and amount of ink per cartridge).

Very good review! These markers seem to be what the winsor and newton water colour markers promised to be…

I have found my set office very hard to get used to though I haven’t yet used them as a paint resource on plastic as a pallet. That might work well for me. I am very puzzled by the green gold colour! First the name seems strange but more worryingly, the brush tip gives a ice gold colour but the other tip constantly gives a burnt umber colour! … though both tips on the pen lol the same. Strange. Thanks for the presentation

I couldn't understand the type of paper you recommended. could you please write it for me?
@Acoloredmind
@Acoloredmind 5 лет назад
@Jane Johnson: Faber Castell recommends to use the Canson Montvalle watercolor paper or the Hahnemule Fine Art Britannia paper. But as I said in the video, if you have paper at home, try it out and if it gives you beautiful results just use what you have. If you see that the results are not so great, then try out another paper.

Hi Flutterby Mixed Media Art, I myself live in Belgium (Europe) so I have no idea where you would find the markers in the US. But I see there is a store locator on the site of Faber Castell so hopefully that is a help for you: www.fabercastell.com/pages/store-locator

Looks like there is a little picture on the barrel showing which tip is on each end. One shows brush and one shows bullet tip. You showed it when you showed the side of the pen.

Who better to review watercolours than you? These look wonderful & I learnt more from just watching your video. I'm not accomplished enough to justify💸, above my Arteza set. I have barely used them; I don't think watercolours like me very much🤷‍♀️😁. Tyfs, take care🐾🐾

inspiredcaroline24 FWIW, Watercolors are considered by many to be the most difficult of all the "wet media," including oil paints, acrylics, etc. Even if you don't think you're "good," if you like watercolors, keep playing 😉 - the practice will start to pay off before you know it!

If you look at the marker where the name of the colour is, you will see an ideogram of a brush on one end and a tip on the other, so that you can know which end is which.

Lijkt me heel leuk!

Are you sure that they are lightfast? I read the Blick description and it describes them as water based pigmented ink. Ink is almost always created from dye and is generally not water proof. Winsor Newton Markers are lightfast because hey are created from watercolour pigments, not dye.

Thanks Veerle, you convinced me not to buy these. I have seen nothing I cannot do with normal watercolours. The fact that they are permanent after being mixed with water puts me off even more... lol

I know all this Helen. I wouldn't use them like palette paint but I also wouldn't use them to cover large areas because I like the blotchy translucent effect you get with proper watercolours. I am not talking about the Prima Confections for instance because they are not true watercolours. If I want seamless blending i will use my Copic Markers.
@CorrieHerriman
@CorrieHerriman 5 лет назад
Helen, I hope they are everything you hope they are. BTW I did not make this video and did not test the markers. I just watched Veerle do all the hard work and decided they aren't for me.
@Acoloredmind
@Acoloredmind 5 лет назад
Hi Helen Standing, there is a big difference between a palette of watercolors and markers. I think I have taken a look at the markers in a way you should look at markers, not keeping a watercolor palette in mind even though I do prefer those to markers myself. I think the person who's doing the review will always look at a certain product in a certain way depending on what his background is. I did mention things in the video as the advantage of the brush nib to be used in coloring in larger areas or using them to write ( which can even be taken further but I will never use them to write...). I don't know of course if you had the sound as I know many people miss out on information because they turn off the sound. If there is anything you miss in the review, you can always let me know as I'm open for any suggestion as I do want to give as much info as possible in every review.

I love this video but I wanted to ask if I use my markers themselves to blend so will it affect the marker or it will be fine.

I can't give you a good answer to that question Chiara C, as I don't have the Winsor and Newton watercolour markers. Maybe I should just go and buy me some to have a play with them too :-)

@@Acoloredmind I am having the same decision to make. I was, initially, tempted by the Winsor Newtons, however, there were some bad reviews of the markers readily falling apart, when removing the caps, and also blending issues. You seemed to be answering my own questions about the Faber Castell markers just after I mouthed the questions. You may very well have made up my mind for me. Have you, incidentally, purchased any of the Winsor Newton watercolour markers since filming this review?

Can you write over it with a fineliner after it has dried?
@Acoloredmind
@Acoloredmind 5 лет назад
Hi W. van Gaal, you sure can write over it once they have dried. When you lay down the marker and you give it some time to dry you can go over it with a marker that reacts on water or a permanent marker and even with a white marker without picking up the color. Just make sure it has had enough time to dry, otherwise, your water reactive marker might start to bleed in the color from the marker itself and the white marker will pick up pigment. When you have blend the colour out using water and you have given it time to dry you can go over it with a water reactive marker, a permanent marker or a white marker without any trouble , bleeding or picking up color.

Welk papier beveelt Faber castell aan?
@Acoloredmind
@Acoloredmind 5 лет назад
