I always thought the true story wasn't about the hero you played as, but Theresa. Its interesting because you follow her through a bit of the first game, and then the next two games thinking she's all wise and knows what she's doing. When in reality she didn't and paid the price for it. Fable teaches you that revenge isn't going to work out in the end. Three heros dead and downcredited by Albion all starting because something horrible happened to them. It doesn't matter how good your hero is, their whole journey is based off of revenge. It never works.
Still can't believe Theresa's gone. She was the one character I respected the most. If you think of it, the 'Fable' series is really her story. My best friend and I played 'The Journey' and when Theresa reached the Spire we were thinking 'She made it!' Of course, what happened after left us speechless.
There's conflicting stories about what happened to her brother. It's said he died of old age at the Homestead behind the Oakfield Demon Door and possibly buried at the Guild. However it's also stated he could yet still be alive.

Theresa was shown crying after the events of Fable 2. I think that indicates that all those innocent people remained dead because of her actions. It also indicates that the Hero of Bowerstone, after killing Lucien, chose to bring his sister Rose back instead of resurrecting the others who died because of Lucien and ultimately Theresa's actions.
Something I've always wondered was whether or not she actually 'loved' Sparrow in fable 2. Like, was practically adopting the child and raising it as if it was your own (assumably as we never particularly find that out) all just for her plan to acquire the spire or did she feel genuine remorse for Sparrow and feel as if that was her actual child? Quite sad to think about how Sparrow had their full trust in Theresa and never found out her true intentions really.
It's very possible she felt genuine affection for Sparrow. There are several moments in the game that hint at this. She refers to Sparrow as 'my friend' after the return from the Spire. It's said that if you perform enough expresdions near her, she'll say 'You remind me of someone I once knew long ago.' which may hint that Sparrow reminds her of her brother. When Sparrow is shot on Hero Hill you hear her say 'Death is not your destiny today, Little Sparrow.' This could imply that she never left Sparrow even at that lowest of moments. And even if the player chooses a different Hero Title for Sparrow, Theresa still refers to him/her as 'Little Sparrow', even after Sparrow has grown up. This could be a sign of affection on her part, still seeing the Hero as Little Sparrow even into adulthood.
Up for debate. She was behind lucien going crazy. She may have not killed his family but, she pushed him to build the spire. Remember she is a seer, she knew what would happen to sparrows sister.
It saddens me to see her finally go. I've been playing Fable my entire life. I played fable 1 when i was 5, and now im 17. It didn't hit me until I thought about how long this story has gone on with her in it... Its like saying by to an old friend Tbh. its a shame they have to ruin this franchise all the time. Legends looks like garbage. They need to make Fable 4.

I would love a fable 4, though they better take there time with it, I do love fable 3 but it's too short, i once completed the whole game in 6hrs, apparently it was rushed into production and you can tell, about half way through it does seem to sudden get shorter, I'd settle for just releasing a dozen new mission on dlc for fable 3, be awesome
NeedleMouse Productions Yeah agreed., I agree with almost all the criticisms of Fable 3 all though I still love it because its fable. lol I 100% agree with everything Angry joe says in his "32 reasons fable 3 sucks" Video and I still love it. But they clearly rushed it. They should have kept more of the fable 1 and 2 stuff. That fairy tale, robin hood vibe. It was so cool. And I do like journey but tbh its kind of lame when you think about how they could have made it controller compatible. They need to make Fable 4, and make it good. This series has so much potential but they keep stepping all over it. The main thing I hated about Fable 3 is how lame the weapons were. They were pretty much ALL the exact same thing. With slightly different features and often not even that. Just a different name usually. Also what i REALLY hated about fable 3 is how noticeably dumbed down it all was. It seems like every game they make it simpler and simpler and dumber and dumber logic and plot wise. All though its still great despite this. Thats what makes Fable great. Even with all its short comings.. its such a amazing idea that you can't help but have hope for it.
OtomostheCrazy definitely. They really under developed that start arc. He was around for like a fraction of the first game and than just kind of vaguely hinted at him from then on. Apparently Lionhead studios is done. But this means there is a chance that somebody else may pick it up if we are lucky. Strangely this means there is more of a chance of Fable 4 existing now than when Lionhead owned it because they were saying that they were not going to make it. I'm glad they are done for. they destroyed this story enough.

she's done so much that cause pain, suffering, and death to so many people but in the end after playing all the fable games its still hard to say goodbye to her
I always had suspicions about Theresa being the actual person behind all what happened in Fable 2. But I never wanted to believe them because she was like a mother to my hero. I always wondered what she did in the spire after I completed the main quest. Now I know but I still can't hate her. She ruined lives for a greater good. And she showed grief by realising it. I will miss her.
makes you wonder though.. are you alive/immortal because of theresea? No other heroes are naturally immortal other then theresea (excluding striking her with the sword of aeons) and scythe (probably william black/ first hero) scythe is a whole other can of worms and sold his soul to the sword of aeons so it'd make sense he's immortal but what about theresea? its hinted at that she became his pupil and that she learned immortality from him (also hinted that rose/sister from 2nd game meets him if you decide to save her at the end of the game, you get a letter and she mentions someone who sounds exactly like scythe) so gameplay mechanics aside.. was theresea keeping you alive to make sure her plans for the spire would succeed? So everytime you got downed she'd revive you like when Lucian first shoots you and she says its not your time yet but leaves your sister to die (likely to help make you want vengeance)
I know, I took a huge turn when she told the hero "But the Spire is mine, begone." I was like girl, you literally raised this child, no farewell?! No parting words of l o v e? You gave Hammer a better goodbye than the Sparrow 😂
well you did become a king / queen so it wasn't really goodbye she became an adviser/seer for your family. Logan even mentions this in fable 3 and makes it sound like she's been helping the family for awhile (likely to continue her agenda)

I think it's worth noting that canonically her brother did NOT have blond/white hair in the final fight. He may have made the right choices in the end, but they both obviously had a fair bit of darkness in them.
White hair isn’t to do with good or evil, you have white hair in the end because your character is old. So regardless of choices he would have had white hair.
Corn Holio No, if your character is morally good and below the age of 40 he can have blonde hair, white hair happens when he hits 50 and grey when he hits 40
I love the first one, really like the 2nd, the third was in decline of so much potential. I hope one day they go back to the old style and channel some of the original ideas that made the old Fables so mesmerizing in a new adventure.

Even with Lionhead studios shutting down, there still is a possibility that they could fund a new studio or let someone else have it, it probably wouldn't be the same but it would be something.
I still love Theresa. She is one of my favorite video game characters. Her intentions where good but she was blinded (pun intended) by her pain and anger to rid the world of evil. I am surprised by someone as keen as her, she would've realized that good and evil balance each other out.

Well hero of oakvale got the strongest genes of the old blood even stronger than Theresa, so if we should go by logic by all rights he should still be alive. If not, the ending where he wears the jack of blade mask he'd become 100% guaranteed immortal. Only people mistakes him being controlled by JoB when in reality he only gains control momentary, as if you read the logbook after the ending it says Hero of Oakvale gains control both of JoB and his powers. So although it's not confirmed it's highly likely that Hero of Oakvale is immortal, or at the very least a ridiculous high life span like Sycthe.
I feel as though I should write a really good proposal for a separate game, for Theresa. I would really love to play as her and go through the challenges that she's had to face. I think fans like me would enjoy it. But if it's nothing like the first two games I would be highly pissed at them for fucking it up. If they even considered my request

In a way, yes. After Jack of Blades, she still wanted answers on why such an evil thing happened to her and her family so she came across the libraries of Samarkand and there she learned about the 1st Spire and the power it could have. This is why she influenced Lucien to rebuild it because he too wanted to build the Spire after learning the knowledge Theresa gave him as well as wanting to bring back his wife and child who died. As she said though, he became evil himself so this goes to show that the death of Rose had to happen in order for Sparrow to get rid of Lucien so Theresa could have control again on the Spires reconstruction and ownership. However, only AFTER it was rebuilt did she learn the truth of how the Corruption came to Albion before during the 1st Spire because if you remember in Fable 2 on the See The Future DLC, she told Sparrow that the Spire had a gift for her - to see all possible futures and glimpses into the past. I assume had she known the 2nd Spire would bring back the Corruption she wouldn't have wanted it rebuilt. Lesson to learn here... just don't build Spires because apparently that rips the fabric between the world of Albion and the Void lol. Crazy to think how 1 character from a series/story of a game had such a major impact on the settings and heroes we played. I def would not call her evil. She is good, but corrupt, not pure. Proof is seeing what twisted shit she was responsible for yet had her good reasons at the same time. My verdict though on this ending is she vanished the Corruption back into the Void, passed her powers onto Gabriel, and the power of that wish was so great, it too exploded the Spire in which she most likely died since she said her time is over. BUT, some part of me wants to think she lives on elsewhere.
I've played Fable all my life, and I never knew that Theresa ended up dying after Fable II. That explains why she always appeared as kind of an apparition and never a physical person in a real body in Fable III.
Yeah she was just super powerful in the will aspect, after 3 she lost her ties to prophecy and some if not all of her will power due to getting hit by the corruptor i think that's why she couldn't have called on the hero of fable 3 to save her ass

I feel bad for her too, but I did have the heart to kill her. Somewhere, in her broken mind, I think that there should have been at least a little part of her who could have tried at least to put a good word for Twinblade, the guy who raised her, or that even, after learning everything she could from Twinblade, would want to kill all criminals of the gang that adopted her.

Ok the Spire being destroyed by 3 heroes using will energy is an ok concept. But the Corruptor and the void is a direct reference to the Dark Tower series which the tower is somewhat based on. But what I don’t get it, what was her wish. To give her power and knowledge of the spite to Gabriel at the cost of his sight? This way someone pure of heart, a hero not born but made and knowing not to restore the spire is her wish. To make up for manipulating events that ultimately brought evil into the world?
Geronimo there won't be a Fable if it wasn't for Molyneux. Like it or not, he is very passionate about video games and he is a extremely creative individual but his biggest flaw is his mouth, which tends to be bigger than his budget.
The most iconic character in Fable is Theresa. I really didn't like or approve of the Outcome in Fable:Journey. I really hope that Theresa returns in a future FABLE game by the new franchise owner: Playground studios. There's allot of high hopes riding on the new FABLE series. And hopefully Theresa's comeback will be part of what Playground Studios retains from the Original Series.
Wait, so i have never played fable journey. But i think its in a separate timeline, cause "the darkness" was already killed at the cost of x number of citizens and sir Walter. Theresa never stated the events in fable 3 but did for fable 2. So this leads me to believe it is in a different universe (a parallel universe)
The Crawler was one of the Corruptor's three lieutenants. When the last Archon of the Old Kingdom activated the Spire, it created a rift between Albion and the Void and the Corruptor sent the Crawler through this rift to attack Albion. The three ancient Heroes managed to seal the Crawler in the Shadelight Temple in Aurora, where it lay dormant until the Spire was reactivated at the end of 'Fable 2' when the Hero of Bowerstone made their wish. By the time of 'Fable 3' the Crawler had gathered enough strength to finally attack Albion.
The good choice was considered cannon, as in 'Fable 2' the mural of the Hero's victory depicts the Hero wearing the yellow(good choice) cape. It's also stated in the Wiki that it's believed no one would kill their own family member simply to claim a sword.

I would like to see a game between the first and second game. Theres were about 600 years between the two and so much must have happened from the destruction of the heros guild and such, I wanna see how the hero of oakvale's bloodline survived.

I mean, I love fable. But after the first one the story took a sharp nose dive into the toilet. Peter was so caught up in being "revolutionary" that he forgot to make sure the story was any good. Just my opinion.
Allen Hannigan fable 2 was nice not as great as fable 1 but it was pretty good i played the first 2 games and the first game has a stronger hero and more other heroes that can help you but the second game has a Dog

Theresa’s story kinda sounds like how the hero’s story was when his family was killed. The father was killed, the mother and daughter were taken and then the daughter was blind and was wondering off in the forest. I’m starting to think she’s the sister of the hero for some reason or it’s just me 🤔
It sounds like the hero's story because that's her telling her side of what happened after the attack started and she told the her brother to hide. And goes on from there and how after Fable 1 she manipulated everything that happened in Fable 2 and tried to help right her wrongs in Fable 3 and leading up to her death here

I really don't like the way this game makes Theresa out to be a character who always had ulterior motives. I always thought of her as a watcher/guide, someone who would nudge and prod at times in order for fate to be fulfilled.
I would have to disagree, at the end of fable two she tells Sparrow "The world is yours to explore freely, but the spire is mine. Begone." And I always thought that was a really sketchy farewell for the child you practically raised their whole life. She gave Hammer a better farewell than that
Not gonna lie. This is disappointing. I never had a kinect and never played the Journey but I peripherally knew the story. I thought Theresa knew about the Corruptor and the Darkness before the events of Fable 2 and I thought she engineered the construction of the Spire in order to destroy it, which I always thought was cool and kinda savage because she set up tyrants and destroyed them all to gear up for a big battle but apparently no. She built the spire because she was short-sighted and naive and then had to sacrifice herself to undo her own mistake. Suddenly all of Fable 2 feels like a mistake and it was my favorite of the 3

Also.... holy crud was her mind perverse o.o She seemed a bit creepy in the games, especially Fable 2, and I always wondered about potential ill intent. But jeez, knowing now how sick she was, and what all she had caused, makes me wish I'd just taken the Sword of Aeons. Time to replay Fable 1 and make things right. Because that's how time travel works, right? But wait, that's a bad result either way. Why couldn't we kill her AND destroy they sword? XD

So does Theresa die? And then becomes reborn again? Then she dies again and comes back as your spirit guide in fable 3?
It actually does). Why didn't she share her knowledge about upcoming evil with the whole Albion, and not just with some brat arsehole of a king with pubes for hair and shit for brains (fable 3). Not to mention she quit on her brother in the battle with Jack the dragon "ah i will go places instead of assisting him, nevermind he saved my life twice at least...."

I never beat the game so i watched the game play, then i see her die and i cried like a baby for a second, after that i got up and threw away my copy of the game.
Wait, so Theresa killed Lucien’s wife and daughter so she could manipulate Lucien, which led to Lucien killing Rose, and then she used Sparrow to retake the spire from the power hungry Lucien (which she created). And after that, her rebuilding of the spire opened the rift that led to the darkness of Fable three which almost destroyed Albion again. HER MURDERS AND AMBITIONS ACCIDENTLY LEAD TO ALL THE EVIL PREVAILING IN ALBION! THE ENTIRE PLOT OF FABLE 2 AND 3 IS HER FAULT. So what gave her her sight and power. She had to have been influenced by a higher power to cause so much grief and havoc. This ruined her for me, and I love Fable.
I saw a comment above that theorizes that the HoO dragged JoB body to show all of albion that JoB is no more. That just seems pretty badass so I’m using that as my head canon now lol.

After Fable 1 she learned about the Spire and basically when Lucien's wife and daughter died she used this as an opportunity for him to re-build the Spire and then Rose's death was used to make Sparrow kill Lucien allowing her to gain control of the Spire
fable 2 kinda tells u it all started with her. and i can't see how rose and 'sparrow' even needed to be involved. everything u do in fable 2 amounts to nothing, until u kill lucian. but why do u need to do that? what do u have that theresa doesn't? u share the same bloodline, and she has had centuries to refine her power. what do u do that she couldn't? whats the deal with the music box, and what was the point of hero hill? im not good a picking up on stuff that isn't blatantly handed to me. as far as i can tell, ur presence in that story is a weak attempt to justify how u were inserted into it in the first place... which itself was unnecessary. thus making theresa an asshole. a cool character, but an asshole.
No, she went to Lucien to convince him to build the Spire. That was while he WASN'T completely insane, but as time went on he grew even more mad. So she found Rose and Sparrow... but Lucien did too. Theresa didn't know he was crazy enough to murder children, it's not really her fault. Lucien pulled the trigger.
How old is she? Because they said it's more than 100 years between 1st and 2nd. In canon is she actually dead? I've played 1 and didn't get to play 2 but I did watch my older brother play it.
Fable is 500 years before fable 2 then fable 3 is 50 years in the future from the second. And guessing fable the journey must be a few years in the future. So maybe like 600 to 700 years old
