My dad also served in WWII and Korea too in the US Navy. So I too am part of a military family. We truly can never thank our vets enough for their service and the sacrifices they made for our freedoms. Uh, oh…I may have to buy those Minki Kim labels. I do agree too, you can never have too many low volumes. I go for those too.

Thanks for that feedback!! My dad was also in the Navy. He served in the Pacific Theater in WW2 in Guadalcanal. What a story that is! The labels are so darling it's unreal. Minki is such a talented designer!

My dad served in WWII also. He told funny stories about things that happened when he served as a tank driving instructor, but didn't talk about what went on when he went to Germany. I ordered some fabric using your link to use for a Quilt a Long I'm going to be doing to make my daughter a quilt. I'll put up pics on my Instagram when it comes in.

I would love that!!! My dad wouldn't talk about any of it to us. I only learned about his contribution after speaking with a docent in a local military museum about it and mentioned some things I started looking into. I was absolutely blown away by what he did. John Wayne even did a movie about his battalion.

I have to share this...and thank you. MSQC has had some terrific sales lately, but I promised myself a "no fabric buy" time. Today's Daily Deal is their new rotary cutter - I have one and really like it. Could I justify a second one? Not as good a deal when you add in shipping. But then...saw today's sale on precuts - always have to look. I actually need a solid black jelly roll. And I found it on sale. Decided to buy 2, then added the daily deal which qualified me for "your" discount. Actually ended up getting the cutter for free! THANK YOU!! (I noticed they have increased their shopping cost. 😮 Oh well. I know you are grieving but hoping this brings a bit of a smile to your face. God bless you.

Oh I'm really happy you found some things you can use!! I haven't bought anything new from them in over a month. Not since this purchase. My life got turned upside down and I'm so behind on everything! Well, all the costs of everything continue going up and up, so I'm not surprised they had to increase the shipping rates. Wow ~ you are the only other person I know that had a dad who fought in all 3 wars, same as mine. He did have some health issues from it (Agent Orange), some mental as well, but lived to a ripe old age of 94, was still living on his own. What's funny is you and I have similar tastes ~ I've bought a bunch of the Flora #6 and also the American Beauty fabric, getting ready to make some quilts ~ YAY! I enjoy your videos and thanks for the discount!

How interesting!!! That's a lot in common. My dad died of leukemia when he was 83. He was strong as ever until the last 3 months and he went fast. It was such a hard thing to lose him like that. Those guys really went through it in their day. I'm so ready to sew!!

@@PattymacMakes I know, right? what I didn't mention was that my dad was in 4 of the 5 major divisions of the armed forces, all of them except the Marines, lol. (that's a whole other story), ha! Wow, leukemia, how sad! Mine had arthritis really bad in his joints & he always said it was from sleeping on the hard ground in fox holes during the wars, etc. On a quilting note, I have already cut out & started sewing pieces together w/my Flora fabric. I am using the Mexican Star quilt pattern from MSQ free patterns on their site. Can't wait to see what you make w/yours!

Great video, your pure happiness when opening the MSQC. Packages reminds me and gives me the same feeling on Christmas morning opening gifts. Thank you for the 20% off, I bought the liberty bundle that you have $72 with discount of20% need up costing me ~$57 and the American beauty charm pack (2) I always buy two charm packs, ~$9/pack.. I have to get the daily deal today great neutrals, cost -$104.. savings of $41!!! Than you so much.. the hothouse yellow fabric is out of stock but my local fabric shop , has it.. I cannot thank you enough for the great savings!!! Now I have to go to work to support my quilting but this made my Monday!! I haven't published it. It's just something I came up with and printed out. Eventually I would like to have a complete pattern, but I'm not great at pattern writing. I'm hoping I can hire it out and get them written for me because I have quite a few. I do want to have a quilt along in July for this one, so I'll get the fabric requirements ready for everyone next week. And thank you for liking my work!! I'm excited to see it done!

Congratulations from Southern California. I am a Missouri Star fan too. In fact, I have a bundle going now. Do you know if you can bundle through your link with discount? And, I must say, I have sent a few things to Missouri star for quilting and been very happy with the results. I mostly work on philanthropy and quilt my own with straight line stitching, usually a cross hatch, but there are those special quilts where professional quilting is a must!

Thank you!! I don't know exactly how it works with a bundle so but I assume if you use the link to go over each time it should apply. I haven't bought anything on bundle to test it. I'm really looking forward to sending some quilts out! I also do cross hatching, but it's so difficult to quilt a large project on my small domestic machine.

Thank you! I have two yards because I like to buy in 2 or 3 yard increments and use stuff in several projects. But the quilt won't take that much. I'll post a blog post towards the end of the week with fabric requirements. I don't have a formal written pattern and I'm taking care of two really sick people so I'm doing my best to keep things organized. I don't know how this quilt along is going to go, but I'll do my best and I'm looking forward to the distraction

I would love to purchase some yardage for an upcoming project that would work perfectly with my other fabrics. I didn’t see it listed with the other products you posted from MSQC. Thank you for asking! It's from Ruby Star Society and it's in the Verbena collection. I ordered it a couple months back from MSQC. The fabric print is called Petals and it's the golden rod colorway. Unfortunately I just checked and it's sold out on their site. Frequently the items I show wind up selling out so I don't know if that's the videos I'm posting or a coincidence. You can sign up to be on a list to be notified if it restocks, but I don't think Ruby Star restocks. I'm also an affiliate with Fat Quarter Shop and they have it in stock. shrsl.com/4ktoi. Unfortunately, they do not have discount links for FQS so it would be at full price. It is a beautiful print so if you really like it and need yardage that would be another way to obtain it. I hope that helps!

What is your recommendation for best showcasing a large/bold floral print in a quilt project?

I would have to see it to give a good opinion. Can you tell my the collection and colorway so I can see it? You can always use something like that as backing, too. And large blocks will allow you the space needed to really showcase what you have. I would love to know if you have something specific in mind! Thanks! Great question!

They used to have some nice selections and it was $7.50 a yard and the quilting cottons were $3.50 every day prices. Now it's trash and it's expensive. But I definitely prefer the better quality materials, for sure.

I love my JoAnns . It’s not just the fabric deals it’s the people I love. They are more than a store they are my friends, I do buy some items from MSQ and I think Jenny is a sweetheart. I don’t think bashing JoAnn is in good taste. That’s disappointing.

I think that's great if you have a store you really like. I didn't bash Joann. I said I can't get over there anymore due to my personal situation and that I would prefer to buy high quality product if it costs the same thing. My store is kind of a dump and all the long time people left eons ago. It was a mess with terrible selection the last couple times I went in. That's just a fact and not bashing anyone. Most people report similar experiences. We are allowed to express honest opinions here about issues that impact our community, and everyone will have a difference experience in their store. Mine have been disappointing for a long time. Before 2020 they had nice items at a good price. Those days are gone.

Our store is managed by a wonderful woman who gives its customers a beautiful and clean store with wonderful people working there. I’m so sorry about your Mom. I know that is hard on a person.
