All the years (and it's been decades, I won't say how many ;) ) and I never knew about the foot used for satin stitch. Thank you for this tip.

Great tutorial! I love this idea! I watch a lot of quilting tutorials and think to myself "well, that was nice or pretty or easy" but YOUR tutorials always make me think "yes! I'm going to do that!" They're such useful and creative projects that are quick and doable! Thanks for posting these videos for all of us!

This has to be one of my favorites that I've used more than any of the others. It was fun sending my special postcards to my grand-kids. I even sent one to the RETIRED POSTMASTER of a nearby town (friend of mine for Christmas.) I had used a material with cuddly puppies ready for Christmas fluffy border with white fleece. My words were a big laugh, saying "Now look at the crazy things that can go through the Post Office." She loved it and said the only way it would have gotten to her was because I used a 49 Cent stamp. (Which I saw on your video) Thanks bunches this was a blast for me. Please enter me in the drawing. I'm under a different name in Face Book, but I will get the email if you send it. Thank you.

I just subscribed and I am so happy I did...I am grateful that you know to put all your videos in playlists..so few you tubers do that...and it makes it hard for viewers to find specifics and youtubers miss out on views they would have if they just made playlists :-) I've learned so much from you already! Thanks so much for sharing! Please tell me would you be willing to do garment construction videos? Can you do sellable fabric items? And, can you do things most professional sewists know but generally unknown to sewists. Ive only studied it for a few months...but I want to learn and learn fast...again, you have made that possible by using play-lists! Blessings, E.

Your statement that the postcard be no larger than 4 x 6 confused me since I've sent out larger cards myself so I did some research. Postcards must a minimum of 3.5" x 5" can't be larger than 4" x 6" to get postcard postage pricing. Larger cards will get subject to letter postage pricing.

Just wondering if you have made a postcard using a pieced quilt block such as an Ohio Star? If so, please do a video to show how to put this together on a postcard.

I am wondering what is the name of that foot he uses to do the satin stitch? Is it simply called a satin stitch foot? It looks different than the one I have for my Singer. Mine doesn't have the little stop. Thank you! :)

Have you made one using a serger to close the edges?
@ManSewingVids

I haven't! I thought about it but more people have sewing machines than sergers, so that's why I chose the method I did. I bet it would work out great though!

Great tutorial. The only problem I have is the corners of the satin stitch. They don't look pretty! I used the foot 2A on my Bernina and went around twice. Any suggestions please?

This is so cool. Question. What kind of needle did you use for the symtex (sp?). And how much postage was on the one you received?
@CelticBearWoman
@CelticBearWoman 2 года назад
Timtex. That is very stiff, can be used for lampshades and jewelry boxes, etc. You can use other stifferener, as Rob mentioned: Peltex, or Wonder Under. I have used both of those very happily b/c I couldn't get Timtex.

So I'm assuming there are no postal regulations or policies that keep a card like this going through the mail??? I'm assuming due to thickness & weight and standard stamp would be needed instead of a postcard stamp....?
@ManSewingVids

I don't see how you did the writing side of the post card. The last clear instruction was the satin stich. Then to you talk about the writing side of the actual card. Do you hand draw it or what?
@ManSewingVids
@ManSewingVids 9 лет назад
You can hand draw it, you can find post card fabric that works perfect as well for the backing. Here's a link that will help! mansewing.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/postcard-template-1.pdf

Kiely Aitken you would use a fabric marker to write on it if you haven't already figured it out.
