In this video on the Hemi powered Model A Hot Rod build, I'm trying to figure out how it all fits together. I begin fabricating the rear body braces. I've seen better cars in the junk yard. It's almost time to start fabricating floor pans!
There's still plenty to do! Subscribe and click the notification bell so you don't miss a thing! Please leave a comment, and thanks for watching!!
Coming up soon on the 1928 Model A HEMI powered traditional Hot Rod project... Chassis fabrication, finishing the rear subrails, fitting oversize door pins, rebuilding door latches, squaring the trunk opening and fitting the trunk/rumble lid, rust repair on the trunk, doors, and quarter panels,
Thanks for watching me bring this old 1928 Ford Model A Special Coupe back to life!

Challenging little job . Great work !

Yes, it was challenging. What can often seem to be quick and easy to most people, can often end up being a lot of work for the guy doing it. The biggest challenge for me isn't doing the work, it's the time it takes to figure out what to do. I spend as much time scratching my head as I do working LOL.

Congratulations. That's the Model A I have always dreamed about. I lost a good deal on one. I kick myself every day

I looked at my first model A to buy when I was 18. I didn't buy it, and ended up not buying one for many years. I finally bought this one, and I'm really enjoying the build. If you still want one, they are still out there.

Ya --- seems like we have to Massage replacement panels --- even if nothing else has been modified -- fit is off a little here and there ---- length - width - holes ------ Sometimes we ARE better off making the piece ourselves. Your Eastwood Bead Roller should be pretty good -- Eastwood has some good products -- did you get the power feed for it --- will make life much better. --- Glad you have those old pieces even if almost rusted away --- templates to go by -----------Rodney

Hey, thanks Rodney for the comments! The bead roller should work out good. A lot of people brace them up to keep them from flexing, but I'm not sure what I will do with it currently. I don't have the power feed for it, but I do want to get it at some point. It will make life easier for sure. Having those old rusty pieces is definitely going to come in handy! Thanks for watching!

Cool, some progress again! Too bad that the raingutters were shortened for some reason. Sometimes its good to start from scratch and leave the repair panels alone. I hope that beadroller works fine, those can be a real pain in the butt too. Done that, been there etc.

The only reason I haven't put together the bead roller, is I know it has to be modified to work correctly. All the Chinese bead rollers need to be braced up to keep from flexing. It looks like I'm gonna have to just get it done. I'm to the point I need it now.

@@phillipshotrodgarage Yeah, i know. I beefed up mine yrs ago and i think it was one the biggest can of worms that i have opened in garage :D Well, it works, just need some upgrading. An another update i did, i replaced the crank with a huge steering wheel, that was from '50's bus. It helps a lot of operating the beadroller, when workig alone.
@phillipshotrodgarage

Man, the steering wheel idea is one I’ve been looking into also. Got to find one.

Looking good, Phillip... The pieces of the puzzle are coming together... even if you have to trim the pieces to fit... lol What gauge was the metal sheet ? And with that much, you should be able to fabricate some floorpans... Now you’ve just got to cut open the box on that new bead roller and let’s see that baby get assembled...lol I know that you’ve said many times that this body was in bad shape,, but when you can find a second,, check out Rat Rod Bob’s new Model A build... talk about ruff shape...man o man 😳 Later my friend....

The metal I have is 18 gauge. It is the same gauge as the aftermarket replacement braces. I should have enough metal in this one sheet to make all the floor pans, and finish up the rest of the body. I watch old Bob and Red. I'm excited to see him working on an old rat rod again, getting back to what made me follow him to begin with. His car is rough, but the scope of his project and mine are much different. I have to get everything perfect because I'm building what will be a slick car, and he is building a rat rod. The mount of time it takes is way different. I cant just throw some stitches and patches on and end up with the look I'm going for on this car. I would like to do something like what he is doing with my 32 chevy. I'm thinking a real quick, budget built rat rod out of that car would be real cool. I'm making those plans. I love to watch old Bob, I think some of what he does on those rat rods is pretty genius!

I think 90% of replacement panels need tweekin' of some sort. If you have nothing to go with, they are a great stating point. It's all just a great big puzzle !
@phillipshotrodgarage
@phillipshotrodgarage Год назад
You are 100% correct in that.

Good work... How about you roll in a matching (the parts shape) triangular inside....just step it (1 1/2) on the inside of both before you roll that rain gutter edge. Add a little flair to it while strengthening the gusset up. Just a thought.

Well, if I had that Mittler Brothers bead roller you have, I’d think like that too. 😂 haha.

Where did you buy the parts from?
@phillipshotrodgarage
@phillipshotrodgarage Год назад
I got these parts from Mikes A-fordable in Georgia. They are the closest Model A store to me. I have also bought from Snyder’s in the past and from Howell’s.

Why did you buy it if you don't know where it goes??
@phillipshotrodgarage
@phillipshotrodgarage Год назад
I used the word “how” it goes. I know "where" it all goes, but “how” it all goes is what I’m having to figure out. I'm just learning as I go. This is my first Model A, and with everything being disassembled, and nothing for reference other than photos online, I often don't know "how" everything goes.
