Hang out with me as I build a few hot rods in my home garage! I have a 40x60 garage with a few cars, and a few tools. All I need is a few friends to hang out as I make dreams come true! I'll also share friends' cars, tools, tech tips, car shows, and much more! Go ahead and subscribe now!
Don’t use a Harbor Freight blue moving blanket as a makeshift welding blanket, they are extremely flammable! Advice from a friend, I would never do that :). Nice car, mine looks identical and I also shaved the antenna when doing metal work.
The funny part about that is the shop is so cluttered right now that I can barely move. Haha. I’ll be cleaning it up again this week. New videos are coming soon!
I’m in the process of prepping my 86 torque boxes for welding. My car was under coated and I’m trying to figure out the best way to strip off the under coating in the seams of the torque boxes . I was going to use paint stripper and a wire brush to get up into the torque box seams to remove the old under coating for welding. Great video.
Thanks for watching. undercoating is worst case scenario. I would probably try a few different things. Paint stripper would probably work. Spray can brake clean, or carb cleaner might melt it, but sometime they leave behind a nasty residue that is pretty toxic when welding. I've already cleaned and fully welded mine since this video and installed reinforcements. I just used a variety of different wire brushes, different shapes and sizes, and scraped some of it by hand with screwdrivers and handheld wire brushes. I used some carbide burs as well. it doesn't have to be perfectly clean. you have to take your time welding anyway because the floor pan is thin, so you can weld a little, and then wire brush off what burns away ahead of you, and then keep welding. Stopping to clean ahead, and starting again seemed to work out well for me. Mine turned out great. I'll show that in a upcoming video. Not the next one, but the one after. I'm working on a few videos currently. Thanks for watching!
It has been a while, but I've got some videos I'm working on, and some footage I need to put together. I'll get some content up soon. I'll make a video soon and talk about everything I've been up to. Thanks for the comment.
In order to change the direction of rotation on a field wound motor, you need to either change the direction of current through the armature or the direction of current through the field. In this case you changed both so it turns in the same direction.
Howdie been watching ya got this a Lotta work pays off so in future we know ya got this great teacher the right way is always good from Canada SK 🇨🇦 later 😊mighty fine Sir again Mark it up
Looking for windshield and frame for a 28 29 tudor like you had on trailer for swap meeting any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Love watching and learning new things !!!!!
Hi Phillip. Nice repair and good tips about fitting panels before painting them. Pretty sweet little Mustang too. Hope everything is good with you. Good to see you back. -mike
The owner was waiting for me to get finished so he could pick it up the night I put it back together so I didn’t have much of a window of opportunity to get done. I told him when he brings it back for the brake repair I’ll take care of all the touch up for him.
Nicely done Phillip, tough matching paint especially once it’s been on the car for a while but looks like a pretty decent match! Great to see you back! Have an awesome rest of the week my friend!
I don’t know on that yet. I know everything from the new curved subrails forward will be mounted the same way it originally was on a stock model a frame, but I’m not sure what I’ll do at the rear until I get there
Mustangs came from the (FACTORY) with symmetrical port heads, headers, forged pistons, true dual exhaust, a bulletproof rear, and 4 link suspension basically, you have (NOTHING) to complain about! Try a F-BODY from 82-92.. Get back to me..
Hopefully what you showed me makes it easier for me to put mine on cuz I lined it up today and it was just like yours all needs a lot of work I'm going to do it like how you did it and watch your video a couple more times make it just like that it looks like a lot of work but it look like it was made wrong when I open box
Thanks for watching! I hope it helps. These aftermarket panels need a good bit of work to fit correctly. I sort of wish I had repaired my original ones. I think they would look better in the end. There is still some finish work left to do on these aftermarket ones, but they are pretty close. All the best to you on your project!
The best factory race car ever built more Fox body mustangs racing than any other car ever built just a shame the Chevy boys can't seem to find a car to put their junk in so they use our mustangs and turn it into a jackass when its a stallion from the factory
They sure do run well at the track don't they. There's not much else out there that can compete with a mustang with stock suspension. They are easy to make fast!
I’ve got a 91 that I just drove to work this morning. Got a couple short videos on it. They are fun cars. I’ve got 3.73 gears in mine. Sounds like they might have put 4.56 gearing in yours if it turning 4,200 rpm at 60 mph. At 60 mph with mine I’m at 2,200 rpm, in 5th gear. 70 mph I am exactly at 2,500 rpm Subbed so I can follow your progress 👍🏻
It wasn't turning 4200, The tach is goofy and needs to be fixed. That's something I'll be doing at some point. It was turning up pretty high though, and I suspected it had a 4 cyl T5 because of the rpm it was turning in overdrive. I pulled the transmission out today, and sure enough, it was a 4 cyl T5. I checked the rear ratio while I was under there and it's 4.10. Thanks for the sub... more videos are coming!
Well, i am here for the model A videos, but i am going to watch the mustang stuff too! I've never owned one, but i helped a friend of mine who has a bodyshop, to get some parts for is customers fox body convertible. The quarter window was a real pain in the butt to find, but i got it from ebay. I guess 60's Mustangs are a bit easier to mess with. Looking forward to see the next video!
Thanks for checking it out. These are fun little cars, and a lot easier to work on than the early Fords. But, the Model A project continues, and I’ve got some good content on it in the works! I’ll be back in a few days with another video!
@@phillipshotrodgarage yes, I just don’t like videos that have to do with people changing parts or up grade parts , I view that as waste of time but when you are doing an amazing job with the coupe.
So, you like the fabrication work? I like to watch that too. On this Mustang, I’m going to go through the paint and body process and paint it on the channel. That should be interesting to watch!
