I grew up in Los Angeles and was 11 years old when this happened. We lived about 15 miles from the crime scene. I was terrified. I remember Susan Atkins yelling to a television reporter, "We're coming for your children next". I could go on and on. So tragic. On a side note, Thank you Sara Sidner for covering this terrible story. I just love you.

I have two problems with this video: There was no mention of Steven Parent, the young man who had spent the evening visiting the Tate's groundskeeper and was the first of the murder victims. He was in his car and pleaded with Tex Watson and said he wouldn't say anything. Then they shot him anyway. This program never said a word about this poor young man.. Then there was the part where Sharon Tate's father having to clean up his slaughtered daughter's blood. How could anyone expect him to do that?

Who woulda believed 15 yrs ago that people would support Donald Trumps vile regressive, degenerate bullshit ? Manson himself, his followers & the political climate in the locality are all books in their own right. If you wanna keep it simple, life can be a bitch n sometimes its stranger than fiction. If yer Christian then thank God you can see where they went wrong n its not a path for you coz in the right set of circumstances at the right time almost any human being is capable of being a complete monster.

Could someone please explain to me why there are those who will sympathise, justify, and make excuses for Leslie Van Houten, saying shit like "She should be paroled...." and "She only stabbed a dead woman....." (like THAT makes it OK ????)- But at the same time, bash people like Barbra Hoyt and Catherine Share, WHO KNEW MANSON BETTER THAN ANYONE, and call them liars and accuse them of trying to profit or get attention? Van houten, Atkins and Krenwinkle kill = Sympathy and excuses. Hoyt, Share (and I'm sure others) turn their lives around, and when asked tell the truth = Condemnation. Go figure...

+Joseph Rivett Honestly, I've noticed for a long time Leslie, more than anyone gets sympathy. John Waters even befriended her in prison. You know why I think that is honestly? Because she was a very pretty female. Bugliosi talked about male jurors staring at her in the courtroom. I honestly think that's the core of it. Look at whats her face, Amanda Knox, she had a fan club. Same w/ Jodi Arias. It's sickening as hell, but it happens a lot.

@Mytube777
@Mytube777 9 лет назад
+lisa bradford "she" and Pattys daughter? You mean Patti and her ex husband, Don Fords daughter. Alisa was just a stalker who stalked her way into Pattis life by renting the death house on Cielo dr where she met Bill Nelson, whom was the ultimate stalker. Anyway Bill introduced Alisa to a detective whom had a bunch of Tate family pics that he lifted from the crime scene and then Alisa stole those pics from detective and then used them to get her foot in the door with Patti who was divorced with kids and not in the best financial condition hence Patti offering to take care of her. Poor Patti had no choice but to get chummy with Statman. Patti was straight and most likely had to....... with Statman for financial security. That is my hypothesis .

My thoughts exactly!! Alisa Statman is, and always has been - a stalking, scandalous snake!! And I'm not trying to be disrespectful; that's just the truth! If people don't understand what I'm talking about, research and do a little digging on Alisa Statman. Debra Tate is a GREAT place to start for 1st hand knowledge & info regarding Alisa Statman because Alisa manipulated Paul & Patti Tate & stole all these photos, recordings, belongings, etc from the Tate family to benefit herself. She's a piece of work. When I just saw her in the beginning of this documentary, I thought - oh, heck no!! I stopped this video like 2min. in to comment about Alisa "Scandalous" Statman. She's not their "friend" - she's a foe .. and she's certainly NOT family to the Tate's. Just had to add my 2cents .. now I'll continue to watch this. ✌
@Mytube777
@Mytube777 8 лет назад
Well unfortunately I believe when Patti died her kids got real close to Patti and then Patti was there for them, so that is why she is considered "family". Patti was in need of money so her "GF" Alisa got her in to do extra work. Like for instance Patti Tate was a bailiff on "Night Court" (I think thats the name of the show- I saw it on youtube ) anyway, since she got her those gigs it meant that Patti was eligible for health insurance from The Motion Picture Guild. You have to work so many hours to get it. Even though I do NOT like her I am thankful that she cared for the kids and took care of them after her death. She had no biz writing a book IMO thats for sure...

Never in life must we forget the evil that showed it's face during the horrific crimes. Each person involved is culpable. Manson and his minions each deserve to die behind bars. Had it not been for a fluke in the California judicial system all of these animals would already be long gone, via the gas chamber. Death sentences appropriately given. It's a shame we have had to feed, clothe, and house these sorry excuses of twisted DNA for this long. They ALL should be just a memory of evil instead of a living breathing reminder. fact of the matter is those Kids then didn't decide to go out one day and kill innocent people. Manson knew what he was doing and knew from all those years of getting into trouble how to do it. He said throughout numerous interviews that he admits to nothing and sees nothing going on around him. So if someone is being beaten and he's asked. He wont' say a word. Those followers had tremendous character flaws or they would never have been influenced by the likes of that degenerate. I think it would be different and a lot less bad stuff would happen, why did we decide to destroy the Earth? I think if Charlie wants to be free that California should let him out now and pay him whatever he's owed. A $1000.00 dollars a day, for every day he's served. California is falling off the fault-bankrupt-might as well join Mexico, Washington and Oregon want to join Canada.

I believe manson went with his evil crew and tied the couple up and walked out and told the others to finished it by killing them then sits in the car with linda then takes off on his evil crew and they have to hitch hike. Manson was the full orcastration in all the murders linda did not kill but was at the Scene of them all and saw everything that went down and new manson well he told her to go kill some actor at a motel slit his through but she could not kill. Manson is a munipulater and has to get innocent people high on drugs to kill for him and do his dirty work as well they all got there punishment and manson is not innocent he deserves life in prison he is a nutcase needs mental help stating he is Jesus Christ really.

While I appreciated some of the footage that I hadn't seen before, I was so annoyed by Jeff Gunn, I could barely stand it. His smug face makes me want to punch it. Manson is one of the most evil people who ever lived? There are banal people walking the earth right now who are more evil, who have killed more people, destroyed more lives than Manson ever could. Manson is a sad, pathetic psychopath who conned a group of wounded people into thinking he was god. The whole thing is unspeakable tragic, but he's not the face of evil.

I'm with you. I just watched the Dateline special that claimed it was going to have new information about Manson's childhood. Gunn disputes Manson's mother was a prostitute, but gives no evidence to support this. Gunn also claims Manson was raised in a "loving " home. While his aunt was supposedly very sweet, it couldn't counteract his grandfather's mental verbal abuse, or the abuse he received in various reform schools/boys homes. I can't stand people like Gunn who think being contrary is the same as being interesting and insightful.

If Charles Manson did not order the killings, he did absolutely nothing to help himself but give interview after interview saying things and acting out to shock and frightened people all over the world. Like he loved being that crazy evil guru so many people believed he was. He was not as crazy as he pretended to be. The bizarre behavior and the way they laughed about the victims and at their families is something that innocent people would not do.

I agree to this extent, it is a rather superficial and almost trivial production over a topic that's been beat into the ground ad nauseam. The Fat Man adds nothing other than "attempting" to pump up the salacious and graphically violent elements of the crime by simply repeating (and vacuously so) all the well worn stereotypes of Manson's personality defects, and frankly doesn't even do that very will. This appears to be little more than a rather sad attempt to sell a book. With regard to Manson. I would strongly disagree on a few points. Manson's involvement in these crimes makes him at least as culpable if not more so than his evil minions (and they are all of that, and each deserves to die in prison). However, with regard to the Tate and LaBianca murders, Manson simply got others to do what he didn't want to dirty his own hands doing. Without his demented leadership, its highly doubtful any of the others would have ever engaged in these despicable activities. For the most part, they would have likely become nothing more than petty criminals and societal driftwood. Plus, I think there is more than ample compelling and credible evidence that Manson himself participated in various lower profile murders where he himself was the (or among the) perpetrator/s. Another point is Manson's supposedly abysmal childhood. Admittedly his mother was a total loser and a decidedly unsuitable role model, but this aspect of his childhood often times becomes the entire focus of his early life to the exclusion of everything else. In reality, Manson spent a substantial number of his early years living with loving and caring relatives (his mother's), who by all accounts attempted to provide him with a good home, perhaps even better than most. He apparently rejected all of their efforts intractably hell bent to go down the road of delinquency and rebellion. Because of this he found himself in various homes and reform schools where he continued a pattern of adamantly resisting all efforts to lead a lawful and productive life. Of course in time, this self chosen path in life resulted in stays at progressively more violent institutions where some bad things did indeed happened to him. But whose fault is that? Everyone ultimately decides for himself what life he is going to lead, and must accept the consequences of that decision, rather than perpetually foisting fault for every undesirable outcome on a mother, society, or whoever else happens to be the convenient whipping boy Du Jour. Manson ultimately got the life he deserved, unfortunately far too many totally innocent people had to pay a grave price along the winding and twisted path of his sorry existence.

U know the most pathetic yet funniest thing about all this ordeal and I'm sure Manson still laughs his ass off about it is that he got what he wanted done. He didn't care that he was gonna be locked up for life. Yes it's a horrible thing that his Mom dumped him at her sisters house I guess back in the mid 30's and i guess he never knew his Dad either. But that's no excuse to pull all the crap he did throughout his life. I don't even know why he 'ordered' those people to be slaughtered. Manson once said to Dianne Sawyer I'm a rebel woman. Hey Newsflash, were all rebels buthead. Almost all his pics from about his midteen yrs he always had a crazy smile or smerk on his face. He wouldn't play it straight in life. He refused to be a productive person in life. He was bent on wreaking havoc to the rest of society. He managed to find vulnerable people to drug them up, brainwash them to be his murdering human robots. To me Manson only proved to be a pathetic loser. I lost my Dad at 13 and my Mom dumped me at age 16 for no good reason. I didn't take it out on society. Race wars, Helter Skelter, all that BS is just another excuse to cause havoc in society. Just like serial killers It's all about them getting there kicks off of bullying/powering women while raping them cuz being a real man is too damned hard for them. They get there kicks off the womans fears, screams. Psychos, maniacs? Psychologically maybe. To me just right out losers. They all deserved to be executed and set on fire and dumped into the ocean.
