Nobody ever talks about Devons military background, Even Devon doesn’t like bringing it up, he’s a former JTF2 operator, Canadian special forces. So when he asks Thor “what’s your roughest night” we can only imagine the shit Devon has seen. He’s a special forces combat veteran of one of the most elite parts of any military. He’s a dangerous man outside of all this entertainment. But he’s a very humble soul.
Everyone talks about it have you not seen the comment section. Roughest night comment is shit there is plenty of people around the world who have seen worse nights then Devon has. Training in combat even in hand to hand is not the same as training to fight in boxing where there are rules limitations and structure. The are not the same. Now does he have a Haymarket chance absolutely so does Thor it should be fun to watch or brutal as they struggle as to amateurs will.
@@carnivorepolice5-0 being in the military does not make you a better boxer. It does mean you suffered through some things and Devon has been in life or death situations. I don't think Thor has had a life or death situation. Maybe he has but the point was Thor was trying to intimidate Devon saying it was going to be bad and Devon turned it on him by being like ok what is bad you don't even know Thor. I think it was a great comment. Had nothing to do with boxing just good shit talk.
@@outlandonish3480 I was in the military, everyone in life has suffered through something you can not apply a scale to it. You do not know all of Thors or Devons nights. There is a language barrier to point in this interviews and it's obvious. I would love to see Devon answer in Icelandic and Thor just be able to talk.
@@mikimiyazaki You don't know what Thor has experienced in life. But I don't even think Thor said that to disrespect him in any way. His english vocabulary is limited so the right words don't pop up just like that.
Never knew much about Devon but i love him. You just know he's been in some tough nights. Might not be boxing and thor probably will win but, id want devon with me in almost any other combat situation
Yes, he is the man you want in your foxhole, has your 6, and fearless. 7 tours will do that in spec forces. Thor will have to ko him because crazy Devon will just keep coming even if he has to crawl across the canvas saying, " you didn't beat me yet, I'm still alive" thor thinks Devon will quit, I think that is highly unlikely
i've been following him for like 3 years. I'm the worse arm wrestler in the world and had ZERO interest in it, but he got me into it because he's awesome lol. Strong as shit, funny, and just a cool dude. Shame he can't straighten his arms and is getting on a bit, because he could have been handful!
@@antidoteforlife9460 Devon has the mental fortitude but in the world of boxing that is just not enough, especially at his age, his body is way behind his mental strength and he just doesnt have the boxing experience or cardio to be able to last barring a KO/liver hit win in 1st round.
Knowing you aren't 'coming back' and making peace with it... knowing you shared your last embrace with your one and exhale... knowing you scuffed up the hair of your beautiful children for the last time... the peace that overtakes you as you wait for your enemy to release you... your worst night becomes your best night... your last night... until you breathe again...
Its boxing. Its a sport. A tough sport. A potentially lethal sport as we’ve seen. But its still a sport. It takes time to get good at a sport. Real fight? Devon all the way. This? Thor will beat him. Thor needs to find his mean streak tho because Devon IS a warrior.
This is all for PR dude, he won't lose sleep if he loses this fight. Its about the huge paycheque, he's talked about their family's financial struggle in the past as well and how much beating Michael Todd this year meant to him for that very reason. And a huge bonus from this is the attention Arm wrestling gets which is his true love.
@@ALT_RIGHT you do know Devon is Special forces right ? .. well former special .. elite milli .. reason he asked thor is "roughest night" .. wich thor didnt want to get into .. since he most likely havent been punched before this "training with his yesmen" ..
Thor is trash at fighting. Honestly Jake Paul has 10 times more talent in Fighting, granted hes been doing Boxing since 21 and this guy is a old power lifter but Thor isnt good, doubt hes got a chin too. Former skinny guy juiced up..I have no idea why anybody cares about this dude Boxing.
He’s a former JTF2 operator, which is Canadian special forces. The man has killed people and has probably seen more than we’ll ever know. He’s definitely got ice water in his veins.
@@cxoolio lol its a boxing match sparky not a firefight. After watching his footage he was flat footed, telegraphed everything and hesitant. Thor’s movement looks amazing for a guy his size. If he commits to his shots which he likely will in a pro event then Laratt is gonna lose. No disrespect to his record but it’s boxing, he is new, it shows… hopefully he stays with it.
if anyone is wondering, the subtext of that is Devon was Canadian special forces for SIXTEEN years, was deployed to Afghanistan seven times and was wounded in action.
"3:00" XD Ahhhh...yes...the mindgames... Devon is actually made for this combat sports... he is just in his mid 40's and cant straighten is arms fully. Devon has almost died so many times and is used to testosterone driven competition. No individual competition though... Hand judo... Armwrestling... whatever you wanna call it.. Devon is prepared to go to war. I just hope none of these 2 actually get hurt.
You're not very familiar with boxing or any martial art discipline if you think larratt can "bring the violence to bjornsson" in a boxing ring, if you've watched larratt's training footage; larratt's a great armwrestler and I'm sure he's a competent bjj artist and competent judoka, but none of those grappling disciplines help him in any way in a striking discipline like boxing; in boxing, larratt is no different from any average fella without boxing experience, and judging from his form, it doesn't even look like he's watched much boxing
@@jamesnm21 “What you got Jerry?!! *Jerry attacks* “Awwwww.” Holds for awhile. “I am way, way, WAY too strong! Way too strong Jerry, way too strong!” *pin* Think I’m gonna watch that one again.
@@TrapperBV hes super smart though as well. Dude has that fight not flight when faced with mayhem and death. Thors not seen a fraction of what devons seen period.
I dont know man, when the interviewer said to Devon that Thor was being sarcastic, Thor seemed very bothered by that. I think they are trying to trash talk, but there is too much respect from both of them Edit: and now that I finished watching the interview, Devin also looks bothered when the interviewer insisted on the idea of Devon playing mind games throughout the interview.
the funny thing is how the interviewer is more aggressive than devon and thor, he keep accusing devon that he is playing games while in fact he is just there brave enough to say what he actually feel while also being totally respecful
@@Kimera92 yeah the interviewer trying so hard to bring "heat" into both of those respectful men, he want them to hate each other while both of them respectfully praising each other
@RU-vidInsistInBanningPeople you might not know much about Devon but recently there was a big match in armwrestling and Devon made a comment about the size of the head wich is a measurement for being a great armwrestler. Anyway if you seen it and are aware you understand the comment better. Just to add its a joke ofcourse.
@RU-vidInsistInBanningPeople Looking absolutely horrible, as predicted. I have no idea why all these ridiculous fanboys thought he could actually fight.
I’ve seen so many face off interviews before fights and I’ve been a huge fight fan for my entire life and I have to say even though Thor has the edge in training experience and time, Devon by far has the edge in mental edge and confidence. For not being close in boxing experience and going through these interviews and pressers he seems very comfortable and intelligent and I believe everyone is underestimating him.
Your mindset plays a huge part and Devon has had so much experience getting his head straight with what awaits him only in the past it was life and death situations every day he was deployed. I doubt Thor has been in that situation even once. On paper Thor should win relatively easily. Devon is such a genuine great guy. He’s very humble, approachable and would help anyone anytime but underestimate Devon at your peril. My money is on Devon and it has nothing to do with his military service but everything to do with his mindset.
I think its the completely oposite. People are actually overestimating Devon with all his special forces background and how chill he is with everything, and although its all true, he simply doesnt know how to box.... armed self-defence skills has almost NOTHING to do with boxing. The only way I see Devon winning is if Thor underestimates him in the fight, dont keep his hands up and MAYBE he could land a one an a million perfect (cosmic) punch and knock Thor out. Although obviously possible, its EXTREMELLY unlikely
@@Kimera92 I’ve never said Devon can box. They certainly don’t teach it in the military unless you choose to represent your regiment in boxing. I’ve also said that on paper Thor should win. Devons only advantage is his mindset.
Devon is cool as a cucumber with no signs of anxiety. Thor on the other hand can't sit still, constantly doing stress-relieving gestures. Thor is extremely uncomfortable and this may be his first legit real fight in his life.
Devon is special forces, deployed 7 times in Afghanistan. I think Devon knows what a "rough night" is. Thor is a human specimen, for sure, and I love the guy. He lifts and trains very hard but also lives a very rich Hollywood pampered, conflictless lifestyle. Devon just has that killer soldier mental strength, focus. He's a mastermind strategist and the dude still has pipes - it's not like Devon's going to be throwing Nerf hammer punches at Thor.
I mean your completely disregarding the fact the Thor competed at the top level in one of the most painful injury wise and hardest sports in the world, you’re completely disregarding the fact that he’s an amazing athlete and has an athlete’s mentality, not to mention has literally boxed for way longer
No Limits getting the wider recognition his talent, charisma and mentality deserves. Devon is the fucking man y'all, I always thought he would've been a superstar in WWE.
@@joshwaterman5526 WWE, loved it as a kid, but yeah.. calling that clown show a sport and the praise it gets is just a reflection of the trash intelligence out there,, And i'm talking about adults loving that shit, its for kids.. at best
@@Haz-Zzz Hey sorry my comment bothered you and @josh waterman so much... allow me to rephrase... "the pinacle of that entertainment"... LOL. Everyone is so angry on the internet... Icemandef was making nice comments about Devon and we were having a laugh. I'll buy the next round...
I like devon like everyone else but just cause he was in special forces doesnt mean anything and like he said he didnt come straight out to boxing he was retired for 5 years and now boxing which is a big difference
@@MC_1993 uhm I did he sounded about normal decent amount of charisma and a good advocate for his sport. What was exceptional? I am still waiting for it. Is it in a different interview?
@18:36 Devon interjects and queries Thor, "Have you been knocked out yet in boxing?" Thor replies, "I have not". Devon quips, "Me either!". Thor looks confused, moderator looks amused but can scarcely keep up. Croiky this is the best Devon Larratt mind games yet!
This could be taking in 2 ways by Thor. 1. Devon is saying in the last 4wks I haven’t been knocked out 2. More likely Devon wants Thor to think about all the yrs Devon spent in the military, hand to had combat instructor and the amount of fights he must have had and nobody knocked him out. On paper Thor should win relatively easily. But Devon has already won the mind games. Thor looks nervous, Devon looks comfortable. Bruce Lee called the mind games the art of fighting without fighting. Devon is a master of that.
@@gaz0463 Yep... me either! I wouldn't bet either way... but StakeKings are offering a 3 rd KO stake...if Devon gets knocked out within 3 rds then Thor wins... if he survives past the 3rd round then Devon wins. I seriously don't thin that Devon gets knocked out.... but I can't stake Devon because he is sold out. I'd put my entire savings on Devon not getting KOed if I can.
@@erichoughton4128 thor moves terribly lol. For a heavyweight hes slow, mechanic, feather fisted and moves like a lumbering lifelong giant strongman whos never been in a fight. TBH.
19:03 Look at Devon's eyes. That gave me chills right there. He's a wolf. A hunter. Thor looks motivated by fear, not wanting to lose. Devon seems like he has a thirst to hunt people down. That difference could be crucial.
Thats what im saying. I guarantee you thats what he was like when storming a building or clearing an area with hellfire and mayhem everywhere. He's one of those guys that loses his temper but never his mind or control. Just cerebral, calm cool and ice cold in life and death combat situations. I can picture it clearly from myown experiences lol. Shark or wolf is right. Hes the nicest guy but hes a born alpha beast.
You can tell he's killed people before. I had a sergeant during training who was a sniper. I think he had just come back from Afghanistan and you could see it in his eyes. All the people he had killed. Devon looks a lot more mellow than that guy did but it's all in there. That shit never goes away.
People talking like Thor got no hearth and passion lol i don't think average people got an idea what it takes to win the worlds strongest man competition. They both got that champion mindset from their sport's.
Devin is gonna surprise this guy loI. I believe Devon might not have a strictly boxing background, but he has a general fighting background and actually knows what he needs to do.
He can't straighten his right hand,he's not a southpaw, he probably doesn't even know what that means 🙄 Thor is chinny, the guy he fought previously took it light on him,he would have stopped Thor if we wanted to. I still think Thor beats Eddie though, and he'll beat Devon and stop him if he wants to. As far as Thor being a pro,I doubt he can beat a good cruiserweight. Usyk stops him in one round 😅 Anyway,I'll still support this show and stream it illegally 👍
When Devon says ''what's the toughest night you had in your lfie thor '' Devon was definitely picturing all the rough nights he had while in the military. I got goosebumps..
24:00 That's those crazy eyes that no opponent ever wants to see. I know one thing if Devon had been training for 1+ years as well he would definitely be the favorite. Just not sure 5 weeks is enough. Good luck Dev I'm in your corner bro.
Devon’s greatest strengthen in this fight is sewing doubt and bolstering his general experience under pressure. Experience means nothing if you can intimidate someone off their plans. This is his only strength, and Devon is incredible at exploiting any weakness.
@@carnivorepolice5-0 he wasnt pretending at all lol. 7 fucking tours in Afghanistan special forces. Hes been wounded in combat and served in active combat situations. Hes had several hellish nights that thor least of all would havethe first clue about. Thats a fact and one that thor started by opening that cup of worms tryna intimidate a special forces combat veteran lol deuche.
Haha after all these years of watching IFL, I never thought Devon would be on here lol. The man is a legitimate trained fighter and has taught combat training for what I believe is the Canadian special forces. It will be tough for him because of the size and lack of dedicated training but he does have a chance based on his history.
@@FotisNorscan it's more than likely he will because he is in 50's, not really prepared for boxing and more than likely not in shape to go a couple of rounds without gassing out. Everything is against him. What he has going for him is understanding the mind set needed to fight. That at least gives him a low % chance of pulling something out of the bag. Like I said, it's going to be tough for him and that's an understatement.
16 years in the special forces and he's never put on a pair of glvoes? I think Devon is a secret ninja. Defintely rooting for him, but have lots of respect for the health improvement thor has gone through.
Devon knows how to handle a fight. boxing is so physiologically based and years of being special forces and arm wrestling is so technical, Devon is sharp and has the tendency to rise to the occasion, but anything can happen and it. will. be. spectacular. 🍻
I agree but fucking hell he's facing the biggest boxer on the planet... dont forget that. I just hope Devon KO's him the first round. otherwise it will be slug/slowfest

Huge ifl fan been following for years, loving the fight between thor and Devon, massive strongman and armwrestling fan I just think thor is going to be to big and devon can't fully extend his arm
Devon is making it great already. Never heard such cunning trash talk from a "real" fighter. Boxing is harder than it looks, mentally. It may well turn out that thor struggles to let rip on a defenceless Devon.
Devon going into a fight with arguably the strongest boxer of all time and doesn't even know the difference between exhibition matches and real boxing matches etc etc. what a legend.

Devon's funny lol. I'm actually looking forward to this. Thor thinks that Devon has never fought before or something. I think Thor will be surprised. He seems to think that because he took this long to develop that everyone else should be the same. Thor doesn't have any type of fighting before he started this and I believe he will gass out, all the while Devon will be laughing and punching Thor into his new reality.
Exactly!! Bro he is super uncoordinated (not for his size and Height) for a heavyweight and hes not a hard puncher at all. Devons been a fighter and warrior his wholw life thors never been in a fight in his life.
“How many rough nights have you had” “what’s your roughest night” LMFAO Devon straight up owning prissy entitled Thor. Devons worst nights were in a fox hole with enemy fire over his head missing his family and mourning his friends lost in battle. He’s a different breed.
no offence but soldiers is not the ones who experience the toughest things in war. Imagine being a victim ( a civillian) who is about to be beheaded by isis or see your family get executed infront of you. Now that is hardship.
It's interesting how Devon has barely mentioned his combat experience in any of this stuff leading up to the fight, at least directly. He just lets it hang over the whole room, silently, while we imagine the things he has seen and done.
I feel like Devon won even though he lost. Both are warriors. Thor is amazing, as we all know. But, being a Canuck, I'm slightly more a Devon fan. Both are such nice guys!
I like Devon a lot. He’s the reason why I enjoy armwrestling and I appreciate everything he’s done for armwrestling. But Devon will get knocked out in the first round and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was within the first couple seconds. His punches have no weight and he’s really slow. No hate. Just telling it how it is.
