My dad was an addict too and my parents fighting was beyond horrific. I favored my dad over my narcacist mom though. I loved the peace when he moved out and I loved staying with him every weekend. Now I have horrible anxiety. I feel you. ❤

@@ritajimmie3361 I know this might definitely sound crazy and I hope I do not offend you. I was JW if by any chance that you have forgiven him and or your mom also if you felt she let ya down or didn't protect you the way you felt or wish she should of. That's if that was the case with your mom. I pray you are able to allow yourself to feel true inner peace and calm. I know what it's like to have crippling issues. 🙏 🙌

I’m sorry your childhood was like that but, am so glad you’re breaking the cycle. I know the scariest thing about my parents fighting was, I had no idea how it was going to end. In the moment, it’s terrifying. My dad was an addict and was murdered over $60 worth of Oxy. Thanks for making a difference! Kathy

Hi sorry what you went through you, Frank my father raised 5 girls and one boy my mother died when I was three so I didn't have a good child life either my sister got on heroin when she was 14 but my question is to you show a picture of your mother father I'm so glad things turned out better for you and things turned out better for me I've never was a person that was into drugs and never will be but I have a daughter who is on drug and been missing for 2 weeks now she just got out of jail and got herself together but I hear that she out there again so I'm scared and worried any advice thank you
@blue-pb7mn
@blue-pb7mn 4 года назад
Try to be there and let her know you love her. If you can, go looking for her. No matter what she does, let her know you love her. Maybe put missing posters around and get her picture on social media. Call her in as missing to the police? I don't know her and your situation but that's what I would do. I hope you find her safe and everything works out for your family. Sending peace to you and yours.
@ArizonaAkinTv
@ArizonaAkinTv 4 года назад
Ms. Gail please hear me... do NOT listen to this commenter above me ! Your daughter needs to know you love her but I'm sure she already knows that... you can NOT change her if she doesn't want to be changed! Don't call her in as missing to police and don't waste your time driving around looking for her because if she doesn't WANT to be found, she's not going to be. You need to make it clear to her that if she wants help, if she wants rehab, you're there and willing to take her in with open arms. But beyond that you need to tell her you will not enable her drug use anymore and just leave it at that. I think the above commenter has either never dealt with an addict or if they have , I'm sorry but they went about it all wrong. I deal with a very strong addiction my own self so that's my experience ...

This video was heartbreaking for me. I empathize with that abused child in you... I was abused by my stepdad my whole life. My parents both used and sold drugs. Parties every night. But we happened to have money so all the kids in my school thought I had the perfect life. I was a competitive swimmer, cheerleader and honor roll student. Thing is, I did all those things to stay away from home just like you. I hated that house. Man, I commend you again on what you’ve done with your life. You guys are amazing ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Im sorry but we cannot blame our upbringing for our poor choices in life. I was brought up by addicts and they still are,but fuck man we are close and allways have been. Yea i went in buys or when they were selling,infact i honestly can say that i have never resented my parents for ANYTHING. ITS MADE ME WHO I AM. here in New Zealand drug culture is prevalent. But my parents and myself habe allways been functioning addicts,work,mortgage,nice cars,trucks,homes,so eventhough dealing and using has ALLWAYS been a thing we have amazing lives. I am now sober and my siblings too,we are musicians and our parents allways got us into music and diffrent activities. We used to travel overseas alot too,si ive seen the world. But the bad things that happened in my childhood havnt fucked up my relationship with the world or with my my family,and im talking some serious shit. So all i can say is we have to OWN our shit. Much love frank bro.

Thank you, both of you. I think you made a point worth repeating, when referencing how you would extort your classmates; that you didn't know what that even was. You never excused it, but instead you acknowledged both, the negative behavior and your naivety at that time. There's healing in that. You really are a good role model for "living & speaking your truth", Frank. Mad respect to you and your peoples for helping so many of us through our own personal journeys. 💎💜🕊☮

I also got held back in school but in 1st grade and it was also from missing too many days of school but the reason I had missed so much school that year was from getting the chicken pocks, the teachers said I could go on to 2nd but my father that wasn't even in my life at the time was the one that ended up being the one that said that I needed to redo 1st grade again. I tell you right now my teacher was an absolute nightmare of a teacher, I got threw it just fine other than being traumatized by my mean ass teacher!

I love how you can tell them; “Oh I know I used to be down to here drugged out, going through the same thing.” I think for most people it’s easier to open up to someone who not only says, ya I relate but to say I’ve been there, totally changes things. I’m going to continue reading your story but have you thought about writing a book? I also want to see if you talk about how you met your wife and about your family. :) Always God Bless you for all you do.

I’ve thought about “getting ass whoopin” as kid. Even today I think if a kid really earned it that is one thing, but what messed me up was the unpredictability of it. If you refuse to listen 3 times and by the 3rd time you usually got some form of physical punishment, I’m not against that, but when you just existing on a Tuesday sets your parent off, that is when it becomes abuse. Curious if others feel this way too?

Frank your mom loved you regardless of what she was doing to her life I think you know that! She "possibly" had to deal with her mother smoking weed, as you spoke about a little earlier. Even though she's with Jesus now(my condolences Frank) were you ever able to have life conversations with her? I just noticed, that's your shop and Titan? ! ? Nice way to put it Diamond in the rough. Rachael you gotta good man as I'm sure you are just as good a wife. God Bless your family and keep going strong in God's strength. Love you guys and all that you do......much love.

Our childhood has a massive impact on our adult life , it impacts our self esteem our relationships and choices in life. Sometimes you arnt even aware why you behave the way you do. and it takes a toll massively on your mental health me and my siblings went through physical and mental neglect we all turned to alcohol and some drug use., no one should be judged for trying to relieve pain . I’m now 57 and it’s been in the last two years that I’ve finally got it together

I really appreciate you doin this, Frank! Both my parents were Addicts and Alcholics, I relate to You so much about the constant chaos. Also, My Grandparents helped raise me from 2-15 years old, and I remember when I was with them, they made me feel Loved and Safe. I can't wait to hear more, Thanks. BTW, How long have you been sober? How old were you when you got sober for real?
