I really like AJ&Smart approach to UX and workshops. Very clear, helpful, no buzzwords and smokescreens to seem more PrOfFeSSiOnAl and ExPerT

The three x rule is so true, and the number to “teachers” and facilitators I hade who thought that “one and done” is the way to go is too dang high

Just watched second half and 3x rule is so helpful ….. instead of getting frustrated that people don’t get what you’re explaining, you need to explain/repeat something 3 times eg 50% get it after first time, 75% after second time and 95% after third time. Jonathan, how did you come up with this great rule? Thanks!

So glad it's helpful! It was just about trail and error and observing how workshop participants react to each formula.

Thanks Jonathan. I’m thinking…. Wow … this is very, very good - and I’m only half way through! I’m not a facilitator but can see how I might use this in the future. Have you considered releasing just some of the materials from the masterclass course as an essentials course at lower price point? Open sales say just once or twice a year for a week. Would act as a paid stepping stone for the main course for those who follow your channel but are unlikely buy full course in one go. For background, I buy some of The Futur products / videos etc. and I’m not a designer. Anyway, many thanks for sharing this valuable content with us.

Thanks for your comment. You're right, this technique can be used in many other situations, where you need to explain something. Glad that you find the video useful and your idea about the essentials course is great. We're actually thinking of creating a facilitation essentials course. What types of topics would you be interested in learning in such a course? Thank you

@@AJSmart Thanks very much for your question. It’s a tough question because I wouldn't have asked for the What, Why, How formula or the 3xRule as I'm not aware of these techniques. I've worked in consultancy firms setting up equity programs for employees. In the past, I've needed to explain some tricky concepts to clients and give explanatory presentations to employees. Having tried and tested frameworks for communications/training would simplify things for me and make it easier for the participants to understand the concepts. Any other techniques along these lines would be very useful. Another area is helping with decision-making processes for clients. The lightning decision jam is interesting but are there others that aid the decision-making process, especially when 2-4 people are involved eg deciding which features to go forward with in a plan or design. Having said all that, I think an essentials course would be appealing if there’s more like this video (content and how you presented it) so hope you take it forward soon!

Hey, what about a video on how to validate new features in an existing product through design sprint (mobile, web ecc.)?
