As one who experienced what Brother Bishop is talking about in this video, I can affirm that there is great truth in what he says. Actually, he's just sharing what the Scriptures already have testified of over and over again. Justification by faith is real. Sanctification is real. Grace is real. The Savior and the Holy Ghost are real. The Gospel of Christ is true, all of it. And how grateful I am for His salvation and power in my life!

Thank you so much for your witness. To add context to what was spoken in the taped interview, to "enter His Presence" by way of the First Comforter does not mean that we "see" Christ with our natural eyes (because as a general rule, we do not). And yet the same knowledge of His reality and power (as if we had seen Him) is manifestly present even as the ancient apostles experienced on the day of Pentecost. Through this knowledge, we experience "exceedingly great joy" on the same level as if we had seen Him (See Mosiah 3:13). To feel the nail marks in His hands, feel, and side is reserved for those who qualify to enter His Presence in the form of His Resurrected Personage referred to as The Second Comforter. This is our doctrine (See D&C 93:1 and D&C 88:68-69, 75 and D&C 50:44-46 and D&C 67:10-13 and D&C 76: 114-118). In my view, meeting, seeing, and knowing Christ on this level is "the end" of our journey of faith by way of the Second Comforter. This is why we are told in holy writ that Christ is not just "the author," but also "the finisher" of our faith." How do we get there? Yes, scripture study, and attending the temple and worship services are a given. But we follow the Light of Christ by turning inward and connecting with His light through prayer and meditative alone time with Him (to commune-icate from the soul level) and through deep ponderings of the heart so we can be given direction, one step of revelation at a time--line upon line and precept upon precept. --Steven Bishop

Just wanted to share this gem of what I referred to as "the crash site" in this episode, and which was spoken of by Elder James E. Faust of the Quorum of the Twelve in a General Conference talk: "IN OUR EXTREMITIES, it is possible to become BORN AGAIN, born anew, renewed in heart and spirit. We no longer ride with the flow of the crowd, but instead we enjoy the promise of Isaiah to be renewed... "TRIALS AND ADVERSITY CAN BE PREPARATORY TO BECOMING BORN ANEW. A REBIRTH (arising) out of SPIRITUAL ADVERSITY causes us to become NEW CREATURES. From the book of Mosiah we learn that all mankind must be born again--BORN OF GOD, changed, REDEEMED, and uplifted--to become the sons and daughters of God" (See Mosiah 27:24-27; emphasis added). "OUT OF THE REFINER'S FIRE can come a glorious deliverance. It can be A NOBLE AND LASTING REBIRTH" ("The Refiner's Fire," 1979 Annual General Conference; as cited in Putting On Christ, p. 101; emphasis added).

I also must add my witness that what he speaks here is truth, Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. One cannot stress enough the importance of this. I entered the gate at 51 years old in 2022 however my whole life I thought I’d entered at 8 years old. But a kind and merciful God gave me a new heart only after major challenges brought me to my knees and pleading for the blood of my Savior to cleanse me. It took me exactly 7 months from final confession to submit my will to God and be all-in. However I’d been trying to do it all on my own for the previous 2 years. There are not words to describe the experience, but there is unspeakable Joy and overwhelming tangible physical and spiritual sensations that comes when we are washed in his power, grace and love. He was with me all night. I was converted. Pure knowledge of Him converts us. Now on the straight and narrow path I know that it’s possible in this life to see Him in the flesh I just have to endure to Him as he is the end. I would plead to all to study Isaiah per the commandment in 3 Nephi 23:1 and the entire chapter of 3rd Nephi, especially the instructions given in chapter 9 verse 20

As you have witnessed, "trying to do it all on [your] own" didn't work and will never work. We must surrender it all. As stated in Putting On Christ, "Whatever we may value more than Him is what stands in the way of Him." I'm so blessed to know a fellow spiritual traveler. --Steven Bishop

I am grateful for Steven and his book Putting on Christ. My experience of rebirth in 2020 changed me instantly, but with that change came a sense of loneliness and a I felt like a sojourner for quite awhile as I had only Christ to share my joy and new heart song with. At one point, I did finally share my experience with my husband and he treated it precious which was wonderful and supportive. I admit though I wanted a someone that could relate more fully of the instant type rebirth experience. Even though Christ and my husband were supportive friends, I was craving conversation about it. So thankful to have found Steven Bishop and his book through an interview on the Latter-day Disciples Podcast. I listened to him and the songs he shared for days and finally reached out via email to express how wonderful it was to have validation that brought comfort of a companionship of understanding. We've since had a chance to visit and I was able to share parts of my experience with him too. These experiences are very sacred and I've been hesitant to share with others because it is a pearl of great price. Thank you for opening up about your experience, Steven, and sharing this blessing and bringing comfort and validation to many souls! Take good care and have a great year ahead 😊 Jan

Thank you for sharing. Witnesses are crucial for "our people" to wake up to the essential need of being born again while in this life. (John 3:3-5). Pls read and study his book because you David can reform the world and help the church per the condemnation we are yet under as stated in D&C 84. We need to embrace this doctrine as a people.

Thank you for your zeal, brother! I'd like to recommend two really good talks that speaks to Spiritual Rebirth and Beyond. One is "Born of God," by Ezra Taft Benson. The other is "Rock of Salvation," by Bruce R. McConkie, taken from a Conference Report in 1969. Both are referenced in Putting On Christ. One of the 1 star reviews on Amazon states: "Note that there is an absence of any quote or teaching from modern Apostles and Prophets." This has brought many "likes." For the record, there are quotes from approximately 33 or 34 different modern Apostles & Prophets cited in Putting On Christ.

"As long as we make the offering of a broken heart through surrender, in contriteness to God from the altar of our souls, entering the depths of repentance, while having received of His ordinances, and demonstrate that diamond-hard, committed willingness to risk everything to know Him-to emulate and be “all in” with Him from our hearts throughout eternity, IT IS ULTIMATELY HIS BESTOWAL OF FAITH AS AN ENDOWMENT OF POWER THAT SAVES. This salvation arises through that catalyst of “falling down and crying out to Him” with all that we have and are-one whom we have never before seen with our natural eyes though nevertheless is real, allowing our desperate plea for his atoning blood to both heal and cleanse. Through this very personal journey, we will have been led to a mini-Gethsemane of our own to further appreciate and comprehend of His offering, while RELYING ALONE UPON HIS MERITS, MERCY, AND GRACE. In an instant, the promised gift of the Father can then be received through an inner commitment to abandon one's self and one's will to God. This is when we completely surrender and ‘let go’...into His ineffably loving arms. It is by way of this ultimate expression of submission that we will have found oneness and spiritual union in Him, together with unspeakable joy in the Holy Ghost. This is the fulfillment of the promise of the Father. This is salvation. This is “putting on Christ." brah... this conversation is BASED! This year has been one of growth for me, the issue of grace is one that I needed to really understand better. And what he said about "all that we can do" is to just wholeheartly humble ourselves to Christ was the same conclusion that I came to. In my own search for this answer, I kept thinking about all the times in the book of mormon that people just had to cry out unto the Lord, and then a miracle would happen, this was alwasy not clear for me, even during my mission, but I found that Paul spoke of the same thing in 2 Conrithians 7:10 he wrote " For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation..." repentance is Faith, but youmust have godly sorrow, and when we do the work or act of simply calling out to God, thats when we are blessed with grace, thats what it means to be saved by grace, not our works. The work itself is not going to save us, is the borken heart and contrite spirit, is the humilty that we bring to Christ. But this humilty will only come by having a relationship with Christ, getting to know him, seeking out. If im not right correct me, but thats where im at at this time. The question I have is, how do you remain in a state of a broken heart and contrite spirit. I feel like through out my life, this is something I've learned forgotten then relearned again.
@puttingonchrist230
@puttingonchrist230 7 месяцев назад
I see it the same way, Carlos. And thank you for your question. 2 Ne. 2:6-7 spells out the law for obtaining redemption. It must come through a broken heart and a contrite spirit (and Spirit of complete humility and surrender) as you have suggested. Maintaining a broken heart and a contrite spirit could be viewed as a part of "enduring to the end." Maintaining a soft and open heart allows the light containing spiritual knowledge and impressions ("revelations") to continue to flow which will lead us to next steps, both before and after the Rebirth. Chapter one of POC speaks to tools we can use to maintain this state of heart. Feel free to reach out to me to go deeper. God Bless, brother. --Steven Bishop

Wow! This is the most important message we need to truly understand. It is a great trick of the adversary when he blinds us with the misunderstanding of the natural man, and not knowing that we still need to seek the actual reception of the Holy Ghost after our confirmation. The actual gift performed by the Deity, in Power. This is an unspeakable transformative interaction, it gives us a revealed knowledge and eternal witness of Jesus Christ that can never be taken away from us. When we realize we are separated from God and what that means and then truly see our awful state we can then cry out in faith and humility as described in 2 Nephi 31, 13. “13 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, I know that if ye shall follow the Son, with full purpose of heart, acting no hypocrisy and no deception before God, but with real intent, repenting of your sins, witnessing unto the Father that ye are willing to take upon you the name of Christ, by baptism-yea, by following your Lord and your Savior down into the water, according to his word, behold, then shall ye receive the Holy Ghost; yea, then cometh the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost; and then can ye speak with the tongue of angels, and shout praises unto the Holy One of Israel. You I want to add my witness to what has been given that these things are true that we can be born again, and receive an eternal witness and revealed knowledge of God that can never be taken from us. After we receive this knowledge, we will never be the same, and are then Abel to receive additional blessings and direction from God that will lead us to the feet of Jesus, where we will be lifted up and be brought to our eternal Father with Christ as our advocate, being ones that are adopted, sons and daughters of God. I would encourage anyone that is truly wanting to receive a revealed knowledge and a clearly explained path that will lead us back to our eternal Father to Read Putting on Christ, it is filled with many profound truths, and inspired words from our Savior, apostles and prophets.❤️🙏❤ I love you all

Thank you for taking the time to add your wittiness of the truth of becoming his adopted Sons and Daughters. I add my experiential witness of the same. The keeper of the Gate is He that we should seek, and we must enter the Gate to receive a redemption from the fall, His grace knows no limits neither His love. Come unto Christ, forsaking all, for we are all indeed the natural man and unfortunately the enemy of God, thus we all must be born again new, which requires the death of the natural man. Put him on the alter, and allow the grace of the Savior to cleanse, heal and convert you.

Too many people think being saved is just doing the checklist. Too many think they're better than others because they check more boxes. Many Christians will be shocked in death to learn that isn't the case. Knowing God is much different than knowing of God. You can memorize every verse in the scriptures and live every commandment to a T and still not know Him. The Pharisees did that. The message shared today needs to be shared more often 👍.
@puttingonchrist230

Very astute observation. The first line in the Preface for Putting On Christ starts with the Subtitle, "Knowing About God, Versus the Perfect Knowledge of God." President Joseph Fielding Smith explained why many members never receive the gift and enjoyment of the Holy Ghost in power: “It is my judgment that there are many members of the Church who have been baptized for the [intended purpose of a] remission of their sins, and who have had hands laid upon their heads for the [intended purpose of receiving the actual] gift [and enjoyment] of the Holy Ghost, but who have never received that gift-that is, the manifestations of it. Why? Because they have never put themselves in order to receive these manifestations. They have never humbled themselves. They have never taken the steps that would prepare them for the companionship of the Holy Ghost. Therefore, they go through life without that knowledge” (“Seek Ye Earnestly the Best Gifts,” Ensign, June 1972, 3; emphasis added).

Thank you, Henry. I know of many, but they are still "few" compared to the masses within the Church. A deeper awareness of its reality (and His reality) can lead the candidate of salvation to obtain the same by diligently seeking Christ. Putting On Christ was written to highlight the patterns in scripture that point to this reality: As you know, all must be born again to obtain the Kingdom. "Marvel not that ALL mankind, yea, men and women... must be born again; yea, born of God, changed by their carnal and fallen state (by Him), to a state of righteousness, being redeemed of god... And unless [we] do this, [we] can in nowise inherit the Kingdom of God." (Emphasis added) God Bless, my friend. --Steven Bishop

Amen, @charlotterains1391. And not only was this gift of the Holy Ghost promised to them, but to [our] children, and to ALL that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call (Acts 2:39). Thank you for sharing this verse. And this "promise" for the Holy Ghost was referring to "the promise of the Father" as shown in the prior Chapter (see Acts 1:4). How do we know that "the promise of the Father" was referring to the promised reception of the Holy Ghost? Because in the very next verse it reveals it: "For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence" (see Acts 1:5). When hands were laid on our heads during our confirmation (also known as "the gift of the Holy Ghost," meaning, the "ordinance"), this is when we each individually received the same "promise of the Father," which Christ sent to His apostles. The actual reception and enjoyment of the gift of the Holy ghost, however, comes once we fulfill the laws tied to receiving this promised blessing. This is done by executing the doctrine of Christ, also referred to in the Book of Mormon as exercising "faith unto repentance". If we don't fulfill the law(s), we don't receive the promised blessing, no matter how many hands have been laid on our heads (individually speaking). The offering of a broken heart to the Lord must be made, crying out for His mercy in a spirit of complete surrender and contriteness, withholding nothing. In other words, we must become wholly committed to Christ, or "All In." With love, --Steven Bishop

Man, I'd have gotten out of Arizona too, especially Chandler, they've been having some major problems, it would seem. Lori Vallow came out of there and a lot of gullible Latter-day Saints were living around there that bought into that cult. I don't know where Julie Rowe is, but she's going to have an interesting interview with a Bishop before she approaches the judgement bar to determine her fate. She's posed as a seer for who knows how long and destruction has been in her wake. With the recent abduction of the kid that, ironically, was worked up into Idaho around Boise and then up into Canada, a lot of weird stuff has been transpiring in Arizona that's almost producing the Florida Man effect. Like, California is Soddom, Florida is Gummorah and then Arizona is right at that line with their New Age Religion, which is dark stuff, but it's producing really odd people. So, I'd have gotten out of Chandler. Their Police Department is totally incompetent and NOW are trying to clean up the mess they didn't want to take seriously and, again, look what came of it, ergh.... A lot of gullible people, so now the town is trying to save face, just..... Not good

I would just say to everyone, be careful of people who feel they have “unlocked” further knowledge than what we receive from our prophet and apostles. He seems to be grasping for some deeper knowledge, visions, etc…and claims he has the secret understanding…red flags to me. 😬😬.The gospel of Jesus Christ is not as complicated as he is making it seem. We do not need to overcomplicate the basic principles and ordinances of the Gospel :).

To be born of water and of the Spirit is part of the doctrine of Christ. Go watch David E Bednar talks Converted unto the Lord (2012), and Receive the Holy Ghost (2010). Joseph Smith said, “The baptism of water, without the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost attending it, is of no use; they are necessarily and inseparably connected”.Have you had the mighty change of heart? Do you have no disposition to do evil? Please search the scriptures. This doctrine is everywhere. Many are not willing to pay the price. Read these scriptures. But having experienced this mighty change and gift of grace I feel sorry for anyone who doubts the truth of Christ’s redeeming power. The pattens and events written in scripture are there to teach us the way. All I can say is read the book study the scripture and doctrine you will find in his book.

Dear @chapmanchaps. One of the Dean's of religion at BYU once said, "The greatest kept secret in the Church is the gospel." I'll let you ponder on this one. But to your point, the gospel truly is simple. Faith, Repentance, Baptism (of water), Confirmation, Reception of the promised blessing or Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. Putting On Christ merely highlights the patters in scripture (and from Apostles and Prophets) that lead us to the experiential reality of coming to a Knowledge of God through a redemption in Christ, per Words of Mormon, verse 8. So this is the gate that the Lord said few would find. Nephi taught this about the gate: ""For the gate by which ye should enter is repentance and baptism by water (now notice) and then cometh a remission of sins (how?) by fire and by the Holy Ghost. And THEN (and not until then) are ye in this strait and narrow path which leads of eternal life; yea; YE HAVE ENTERED IN BY THE GATE. To highlight the patterns that lead men and women to being truly Born Again is a calling for me. I'd really recommend you read Putting On Christ. In fact, please send me your address as I'd like to send you a free copy. What do you have to lose? Then we can get together and discuss through the tears that will assuredly follow. Love you, brother. Sincerely. And God Bless. --Steven Bishop

President Joseph Fielding Smith explained why MANY members never receive the gift and enjoyment of the Holy Ghost in power: “It is my judgment that there are MANY members of the Church who have been baptized for the [intended purpose of a] remission of their sins, and who have had hands laid upon their heads for the [intended purpose of receiving the actual] gift [and enjoyment] of the Holy Ghost, but who have NEVER RECEIVED THAT GIFT-that is, the manifestations of it.

@@puttingonchrist230 Your words have had a great effect on me. I am going to give this book a try. At one time in my life, I was very in tune. I turned to sin again and was in sin for years. I decided to return but I have never felt the way I did in 08-09 again. I know there is something missing in my life, I can feel it. I hope this can help me in my path and that it's not too late for me.

This brother does not understand Paul. Neither does all of Christianity, and most members. Paul is only talking of the law of Moses in his teachings about works and salvation. Saved means delivered. A person is not delivered from sin by not killing, but they are delivered from sin by not hating. A person is not delivered from sin by not fornicating, or committing adultery , but they are delivered from sin by not lusting. Paul was teaching that obeying Christ requires us to change from our spirit, but to obey the works of the law of Moses does not. A person can obey the law of Moses outwardly and appear holy, which twice in the New Testament Paul said he did blameless, but he knew he was not delivered from sin, because he was full of all kinds of spiritual sins, lust, envy, back biting, and hating one another. The law of Moses is the letter of the law, which Paul says killeth, and Christ's teachings are the spirit of the law. We are delivered from sin when we obey Christ, we are forgiven by His atonement. We enter into a relationship with Christ by being Christ's hands, feet, eyes, heart, in helping those He would help, in the ways He did. By doing the works of Christ.

Dear Chardona24. Let me add the following context taken directly from Putting On Christ that I did not have time to go into in 33 minutes: "WHEREFORE THE LAW WAS OUR SCHOOLMASTER TO BRING US UNTO CHRIST. The “law” here refers to the law of Moses and other performances under the Jewish law, yet for our purposes will be likened unto the checklist of all the “to do's” (i.e., "works of the law") and other responsibilities we are expected to perform in the Church. John said that “the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth come by Jesus Christ” (John 1:17). Anyway, the above is taken from p. 227 in Putting On Christ. I go deeper into this but wanted to at least respond to add a portion of the context that was missing from my interview with SU. I'd encourage you to read Putting On Christ for an even greater context and understanding and would look forward to hearing back from you after you do so. Good luck on your spiritual journey and God Bless. --Steven Bishop

I believe the words of Christ as he spoke to Nicodemus. John 3:5. Jesus answered, verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
