We have moved on again and this time we're on Oleron Island, where we seek out the very best view of Fort Boyard, and Mike faces his fear of heights by going up a 46m high lighthouse. All this and much more in this episode.
Those lighthouse steps just went up and up! Thanks for making the climb to show us the view. Looks like lots to see in that part of France. Thanks for sharing ❤
Hi, thank you for taking us on your tour it was really interesting your facts about the places are very good. Loving your French trip. Safe onward travels look forward to the next video. 👍😊🌻
Hi Sue, hahaha if you got giddy watching on telly then you can imagine what it's like at the top. I sometimes have that vertigo feeling watching things on telly.💕
Hari Om I love lighthouses - but these days it's strictly enjoyment from ground level! Loved the layout of that one. Kiera looks to be thoroughly enjoying herself... thought could do without the ticks and pillars"!! YAM xx
Thanks, yes she is having a lot of fun, but could definitely do without those nasty little ticks. We check her regularly and just had the one so far👍💕🐾
Still an excellent adventure. My wife Sarah does not do heights but we love light houses too. So I would have been solo light house climb too. Safe travels, Dave
Hi both, thanks for replying and sharing the link, we will definitely check it out 👍 Yes we are loving our 144 and enjoying getting around in it as we used to have a caravan but it gives us a lot more freedom in the great outdoors. Luss is now on our list of must-do’s. Keep up with the fab videos.
Got a bit queasy over my toast this morning watching Mike's heroic climb of the lighthouse. Well done and thank you for your efforts. Perhaps just as well the boulangerie wasn't open. A croissant could possibly have weighed heavy. Don't think I ever watched Fort Boyard but I knew about it. So interesting to see it and the fortifications. Happy travels 😊
Great vlog, we love our karcher for the windows BUT the noise drives me bonkers but we leave out two skylights fractionally open at night as we are fresh air freaks so a good flow of air and no condensation. Well done Mike very brave I would have been clinging to the wall as well but probably if I’d made it up to the top I’d just stand in the door way 😂😂
Agree the Karcher is good but the noise gives me the same reaction as chalk on a blackboard.....aaaargh!. The lighthouse really freaked me out at the top😱👍💕🐾
❤ My other half would love to climb the light house steps, maybe we will if we pluck up courage to travel to France in our campervan 😍🚐 Thanks for your lovely vlog❤️🐶🦩🍾🥖🇫🇷 xxx
Hi both Another enjoyable watch. We also loved Fort Boyard on the TV. It’s still going on French TV! Richard O’Brien presented Crystal Maze however. Leslie Grantham, amongst others, did FB. Safe onward journey.
Thanks, ah yes you are right, just googled it, oops. Strange, I remember looking it up at the time and Richard O'Brien came up, must have made a mistake 👍💕🐾
You and me both Mike, I hate heights. Won't forget the time we went to the Mumbles cliffs in Wales. Scared the living *beep* out of me! We've been to Ile d'Oléron as well but in February(!) 2015. We really enjoyed it despite the unsettled weather. Even braved the elements to see Fort Boyard from the beach (or rather I did, while my OH and kids stayed in the car, well, they were little back then!). We did have some quite mild sunny days for the time of year though. I imagine in the height of Summer, it is packed out. Bonne route!
Heights like that just freak me out, strange, I like hill walking with no problem, flying no problem, but show me a ledge and I just go all wobbly. Like you it was quiet on the island but yes I bet it gets really busy in summer👍💕🐾
Lovely video showing us all some very pretty parts of France, the lighthouse climb was certainly something and the view from above was left for next time..... Your drone footage makes up for it all anyway....Keep safe...🙃
Hello You Three - greetings from Poland. Very enjoyable visit to Oleron Island, the lighthouse and citadel. Facing demons to do with vertigo is horrible. Heights terrify me - I hate them.
Thank you for sharing this vlog. I like these (to me) out of the way places. I would love to have climbed to the top of the lighthouse. I have never minded heights but it has been a long time, so maybe now things might have changed.
Hey Mike and Tricia, loving watching your adventures around France. We are on our third weekend away in our 144 since picking it up last month and finding it very versatile. I noticed in your island episode to the lighthouse and Fort Bouyard, that you now have seat covers on the captains seats and wondered if you could share where you got those particular ones from, as we think they look really good and match well to the other seats and interior? TIA ZoeB
Hi Zoe, sounds like you are really enjoying your time away in your 144. Well spotted, yes we do have seat covers now, we felt that they match quite well with the rest of the van . We got them online, link below 👍🐾💕 motorhomeseatcovers.co.uk/
Hi Tricia and Mike. You mentioned that your little dog got a tick...when I was a kid we lived in the outback of Leicestershire and the dog we had at the time was a cairn terrier and she would often get a tick or two...so my dad but a drop of lighter fluid on it and the lit it with a match...the dog didn´t realise anything and the tick fell off with all of it´s legs attached.
Similarly, Tricia's dad used to say that you should use a lit cigarette and touch it and it would back out. I think we will stick to the modern method 🤣
