Another important fact: Alexander followed the footsteps of his idol, Cyrus the Great, who was one of the greatest military tacticians. That’s who he wanted to be like.

You said nothing wrong my good friend, and, l command you for your honesty dealing with my line of ancestry the House of Aiakides on Alexander's mother side. But what most researchers miss that Alexander's troops 3/4 of the were southern Hellenes. The famous cavalry was Thessalian, and, archers the famous Paionians Agrianes, among, Peloponnesians, Cretans, Athenians, Epeirots, and Thracians. Therefore the conquest was not Macedonian but Hellenic.

You forgot in 340-339 BC when Alexander was 16 his dad, Phillip II went east to battle Byzantium leaving Alexander in charge. While in power he battled Thracians and defended from Illyrian attacks. He even built a city east of Manorea named Alexandropolis and Macedonians inhabited this city. When Phillip II came back they marched to Athens and had the battle of Thermopylae when Alexander was only 18. They than marched on Amphissa, capturing the city and capturing the mercenaries sent by Demosthenes and the Athenians. Together they returned to Elatea and proposed peace to the Thebes and Athenians, but were rejected leading to the battle of Chaeronea in 335 BC where the Macedonians prevailed. Alexander was also exiled from Macedonia and fled to Illyria with his mother Olmypias for six months before returning. When in power he also killed everyone who threatened his position on the throne. He killed his cousin and 2 Macedonian princes. He also killed his general Attalus because he conspired to leave Macedonia and join the Athenians. He than fought an army of Thracians in the Balkan mountains, defended at the rear from Illyrians and eventually taking an area of Getae in the North past the Danube River. Alexander than went south defeating the Illyrians solidifying an easy route to Athens. He didn't take Athens he just made an example of Thebes for wanting to be an independent state. The troops garrisoned in Thebes were needed north so this caused the revolt against Macedonia. Alexander went to Thebes and demanded they submit but they did not want mercy, 6,000 people died. The remaining 30,000 were sold into slavery. He burnt the city to the ground to set an example to the rest of Greece and his predecessors. Than he went to destroy the Persian Empire...

These facts are actually pretty much well-known about Alexander the Great. Here is some history that is not as well-known, except by Greeks which study much of Alexander's exploits in detail. This is the history of the Sogdia Rocks.

Fun Fact: Alexander avoided fighting Sparta, though it's more likely because Lacedonia was a poor region with little to offer.

Texxas Riider, Are you claiming that ancient Greeks were of Egyptian origin ? of course there was connection cultural and trade with Egypt from ancient times but saying they have the same DNA is a cheap agreement ,what are your source of the DNA tests ? . Great Alexander like his father were of the family of Argeads originally coming from Peloponnese the birth place of Mycenaeans later moving to northern Greece creating the Greek kingdom of Macedonians illirians and the other you mentioned were people living very close to the borders of northern Greece and some families probably married each other like it happened in all Europe although the main population were Greeks -Helenes they spoke the same language and considered themselves Greeks .During and after his father death great Alexander unite the Greek states under his rule with the name of Hellenes but he didn't do the same with illirians or Thracians or any other of these states cause they weren't of Greek origin. this modern day propaganda trying to connect that nowadays Slavs with ancient Macedonians is sad and outrageous
