Hey, take it easy on yourself! Listening to your body is never a failure! And if I commented that I had to cut a run short due to my chronic blood pressure issue, would you call me a failure? Of course not! You deserve to treat yourself with the same kindness you treat others. Ok, finger shaking done. 😂 Beautiful pupper. I get so sad thinking about the pets and people of Ukraine, but I'm so glad some are finding their way to a safe and happy life. And I loved the tour of the waterfront!
Totally agree on the Huberman stuff. I haven't actually listened to his podcasts but he is part of the crew that relentlessly pushes AG1. And AG1 is in that bucket of there are basically no studies supporting it. Yet it is pushed as if there is strong evidence. Good advice to check things out yourself!
Given that none of this is what you expected and recovery is tricky and difficult, you're doing so well! I enjoy following along on your journey and am here cheering for you from The Netherlands!
I've lived in Bristol practically all my life and this has made me realise I still know basically nothing about the area! You should be a running tour guide - I'd sign up! 😂
As ever Flora, I enjoyed your commentary: you're a real trooper. I've been to Bristol a few times but never for long enough to have a good look around the many historical bits, not even long enough to have a proper session in any of the historical pubs, so your tour was a treat. The best of luck in your battle to regain full fitness. You will succeed.
Don't be discouraged, you've done amazing! Well done for listening to your body. I really loved this video, from the upbeat music to the Bristol history!
Hey Flora! Phily Bowden would be a cool runner to interview - she also has a running RU-vid channel, her comeback to running after struggles running in college is really inspiring
Hi Flora well you talked lots so bang on Z2 which is important!!! Keep believing and believe in the process!!! Guess what…..I’m doing MCC this year! Didn’t get in officially even though I’m local but some of the guys and gals in my gym group, some of whom are doing UTMB and a couple are pros (with North Face etc) have kindly agreed to do it with me as a training run and we’re just going to have a day out in the mountains!!! Should be fun 😊
Good to hear the Huberman scepticism. He sells ludicrously expensive supplements and gets huge kickbacks from Athletic Greens so I’m not convinced his science is always unbiased.
You are amazing Flora! How you run and vlog at the same time boggles me lol. Be so good to get a sports dietician to interview... especially one specialising in endurance sports. Rest up, enjoy the lights too 🙂
Hey Flora 😊, you’re doing awesome well done despite what your score said! The runs in which I’ve felt the worst are often where I’ve been most proud of myself for keeping having a go. I imagine the difficulty of talking to us on a run must be great for forcing you to run slower in a zone 2 and help keeping your heart rate as low as possible
Oh I don’t know: I ran along chocolate path as part of my run a few weeks back and found it very exciting 😂. Looks like you planned that run just right: good effort!
Hi flora! I’ve booked a grasmere gallop after i saw an ad on one of your vidoes- I’m excited! I’ve been meaning to ask- Where are your favourite places to get jewellery? I keep spotting your necklace (the gold choker) and I love it! Love your earrings too🫶 thanks for your vids🩷
Loved the tour-guiding! I wouldn't categorise your run as a "big fat fail" though - you got out and go some useful KMs in. Your attitude is great though - recognising the limitations you have for now and still getting on with it and finding joy in it is a great example to the rest of us! Interesting about Huberman - lots of great content but, as you pointed out it needs sense-checking. I was very close to starting with AG-1 but some research shows that, while a couple of the ingredients have scientific merit they're all so massively underdosed to be ineffective.
Curious if this could be a Long Covid thing? I have LC heart issues that have been flaring up more recently. I understand the frustration! Sending peace while you navigate your health and glad to see you're listening to your body and stopping when you need to.
Apart from a lack of dog company it looks like a successful run to me, you got out the door which I always count as a win in the winter months 💪 every run with my new pup feels twice as easy, probably because I enjoy it more
@@FloraBeverley Victoria Park! Congrats on your recent Marathon in Paris, also we all have off days and off weeks. My Vo2 cratered in late 2023 - as you say, sometimes just unseen bugs or fatigue from other stresses. Keep going 😊
🎶 track? It’s *I've Had Enough* by *Snake City* - and yes we are THRILLED to be your trusted provider. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sWGCHNeSSuQ.html // Epidemic Sound
Not a bad run by any measure...keep showing up, and I am sure you'll crush Paris when that time arrives! Thanks for showing us more of Bristol; I relish my last trip to the UK almost five years ago, and look so forward to a return one day!
I have chronic fatigue and I would suggest fuelling every 20 minutes instead of every 45 minutes. It takes around 20 min for the food to start going through your system and if you waited 45min, you end up with a gap of no fuel being utilised. With more frequent fuelling, with actual solid food or gels, doesn’t matter which, you have a consistent stream of energy ready to be used. I tried the 45min and I really hit the wall in tougher sections on trails and it takes forever to fuelling to catch up. Also taking food for any run that could be over an hour just in case. I’ve learned the hard way many times that even 20min over can result in a serious bout of fatigue for days. I hope you find what works for you! Keep trying, you’ll get there ❤
Hi Flora here's a couple of people I can suggest for you to interview. Nicola Forwood aka Nicola Runs and Rachel Davies aka Rachel D. Both are keen runners and would make interesting interviewees.
Hey Flora! I know it wasn't what you'd initially set out to do from your plan but I wouldn't class a 10k as a fail on normal conditions, let alone with a chronic health condition. You went out and did a 10k, i'd celebrate that (although hope you didn't feel too poorly afterwards and managed to get a good nap in?). 🧡 Watching this with hubby and he is keen to know how the building work is going tho, have you had much progress so far? x
100% agree on Andrew Huberman, he is running out of good science because it takes a long time to do and is rarely ground breaking and is grasping for straws now
Immigration: Which city do you want to visit in the UK coming from Canada? Me: Bristol. There is the path along the river and the bridge which figures in a lot of Flora videos. There is the Harbour, the chocolate path, the light shows, the datetrees and birds. Immigration: What about London? Me: I think I saw the video when she went there. I am still going to Bristol though. Thanks, Flora!
In Ghent, where I live in Belgium, there's also a lot of fig trees growing from the walls at the river side. Probably because of the same reason you mentionned. I visited Bristol last year. Really enjoyed it! I was too scared to get on the big suspension bridge though 😅
Have you tried taking calms tablets? my body and brain gets super stressed, super quickly since i started suffering from chronic illness, but the calms has made a huge difference.
That's what I'm doing! Towards the end I talk a bit about walking if my HR spikes. Usually unnecessary on flat ground now, but I've built up to where I am now through exactly that method.
treat your self with kindness i dont call that a fail you done 10 k likely faster than I could now days ; I have high blood pressure and about 2 years ago now I had covid wasn't terribly sick from it but for some reason my average heartrate is much higher ; doctor cant find anything really wrong he suggests it has effected my asthma as lung function is not as good as was ; before covid I could run 10 k at a 5;15 pace now I struggle to do it a a 7;00 pace ; I too find it frustrating ; but I decided if that was my runs now ill except that and just do the best I can ; like you we just have to except our weaknesses and rely on the few strengths we have
Run looked a SUCCESS not a failure ! Time in the fresh air, you kindly gave a guided tour & history heads up and you met some new furry friends ! Colds etc doing the rounds, if you've picked up a minor one, only going to exasperate what's remaining of the EBV. Don't put pressure on yourself to be nailing targets or feel that you're falling behind the Paris schedule. Worst case scenario, no shame in postponing till a later event. No fault of yours if "life's masterplan" differs from the page you're currently on ! Process will prevail ! There's a Arc of Attrition Buckle with Flora "written" all over it, other side of the "cloud" ! :) 🌤
