@Marcos XVI I love how experimental they are, they never stick to one formula so everything that they do is a new experience and you get so many more aspects of the song with every listen.
@Choronzon 33 XVI This song is from the follow up album, "In the Future Your Body Will Be the Furthest Thing from Your Mind" and they are on tour in support of it. I caught them in my hometown and they are every bit as awesome in concert. Catch them if you can.
Getting clean is like putting on a Space suit and walking away from the comfort of well comfort. No fear in the numb, also no progress, endless circles, madness but it becomes you inside and out. He picks up the needle, then moves to vials which I perceive as Methadone to need that crutch, but at the end he decides to take that scary leap into outerspace which seems so dark, scary, and hurtful, which it is, but it's life and space suit isn't going to protect him because it's not really space but just outside. Outside his room, outside the condensed opiate fueled mental world. When your on opiates it covers you in an invisible shield like a space suit void of feelings. Everyone has their root reasons for using and everyone has an excuse to keep using but man the gravity is soo crazy trying to climb out from the hole your in and I could go on forever but this video and song are deeper than people think and if your not an addict it probably seems simple or stupid.
Thank you for your post. I was wondering about the meaning and your explanation is so personal and profound. I wish you well in your recovery. Thanking God I never slipped into the opiod trap...seems so seductive and scary.
Happy to say am not an addict, am not even a user. But the metaphor comes across hard and loud. Glad to hear that it sounds like you are free from this too, now. I definitely feel for everyone with struggle
HOLY CRAP!! Directed by Ken Andrews? Is there anything you CAN'T DO Ken?! Love that this video feels extremely personal considering the bands past problems with addiction. Excellent work guys!
Racin' all around without a head to roll There's nothing keeping you from just floating away Everything you thought you knew that was true Has lost its connection and broken loose A wound that has opened that can never heal But you're floating on a channel that cancels the feel Of being untethered in an open void With nothing to grab you're just a broken toy But you're free now You don't need this You won't freak out You can't feel this When sleepin' is a dream that you want to be given But a waking sort of death is what you're actually livin' You're caught inside a space with no way to leave You're trapped inside a room with no air to breathe I'll run a week, I'll run a full hundred miles You cannot leave, you cannot demote yourself Your words flaring out Your words flaring out But you're free now You don't need this You won't freak out You can't feel this 'Cause you're free now You don't need this You won't freak out You can't feel this You did it right, you tried to forget it all You did it right when you said it was all your fault Don't change your mind, it's already over Can't change your mind when it's already gone But you're free now You don't need this You won't freak out You can't feel this 'Cause you're free now You don't need this You won't freak out You can't feel this
What I thought was freedom was a trap, letting God take the wheel is Mt personal freedom. Yeah I discovered "Stuck on you" as a young professional background in the day, these guys still sound awesome, I hadn't heard them in like 30 years, definitely in my play list!
Somehow I have been getting into Failure and David Dastmalchian all at the same time and I just now discovered they made a video together. I've heard David's story about addiction and it's beautiful to see this collaboration. This feels oddly healing. I'm rooting for these underdogs, both Failure and Dastmalchian.
about a month ago i saw this guy in the new blade runner, and was trying to remember where i'd seen him before. turns out it was dark knight. now here he is again. this man is haunting me.
how the hell did i not know about this sooner?? it's got everything. briefcases, heroin, space travel. goddamn i hope ken goes down in history like duke ellington or beethoven
One of those actors that adds so much to films. Great Actor, Great Song, Great Video! Ken on direction duties man... don't ya just get jealous of talent!?!
Outstanding video. That actor kicks ass. Super concept, and execution. Love the accented minor third notes in the upper register toward the end. Super cool vibe.
David Dastmalchian, the actor in this video. He's been in Blade Runner 2049, he was also the crazy joker thug in The Dark Knight and he was in Ant-Man.
Very cool! Looking forward to the rest of the tunes. Be sure to hit Lincoln, Nebraska again on your next tour! The Bourbon Theatre show was outstanding.
Please release more music videos, guys! Not only because it's a beautiful bloom of artistic expression, but look at those views! And the money y'all are getting... it's a win-win!
My God, in 2020 we got the new Hum record, Inlet, and the new Deftones record, Ohms. Now this year saw new albums drop from Genghis Tron and Failure. Every one of them complete bangers. What a great time for music and the lost art of the complete album as a brilliant body of work.
I love the song and love the lyrics but that video reminded me of what it felt like being in that pit in a hotel room all weekend/every weekend and that constant feeling of being worried b/c its gonna happen again and again
